Peggy Joseph’s America

See? She was right all along.

In his recently released book Leadership and Crisis, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal recounts an exchange with President Obama during the Gulf oil drilling moratorium. (Full disclosure: I co-wrote the book with Jindal.) After telling Obama that the moratorium would potentially cost tens of thousands of jobs, ”The president went on to assure me that anyone who lost their job would get a check from BP. When I explained that BP might not write them checks because it was the federal government that imposed the moratorium the president said, ‘Well, if BP won’t pay the claim, they can file for unemployment.’
For Obama, getting an unemployment check is about the same as getting paycheck.

That’s because he’s never really worked for one.

  1. Can’t help but get the feeling sometimes that Obamgabe can’t seem to access some of his backup files in real time. Some sort of virus he and Nancy Pelosi might share.

  2. I like the last line of the Joseph piece, too:
“Obama is knowingly damaging our economy, and assuring that more money goes to energy producers like Venezuela, Iran, and Saudi Arabia.”
Kind of makes Ezra’s point for him, doesn’t it?

  3. Obamas response was a socialist-enviro-redistributionist’s version of “Let them eat cake”.
Obama is presently doing more damage to the liberal/ progressive left than Ron Reagan ever did. What’s amazing is that it seems he has no clue that he is.

  5. Barry is a saboteur. What is news about this? That’s what a “community organizer” is, a guy who sabotages communities.

  6. Obozonomics . . . because progressives are smart enough to figure out who should get how much from whom.

  7. I agree with what Gord Tulk said the first time, only a little more succinctly……
    Obama has no clue.

  8. Obama isn’t running anything. From the Instapundit link above, his CARBON FOOTPRINT: “Last year Obama flew in Air Force One 172 times, almost every other day.”
Obama is a rock star, not a leader. He is addicted to being on stage constantly, he’s just a TOTUS. The question is: who is running the Teleprompter?

  9. nomdeblog is right; Obama is a stage-puppet. Obama has no clue – or interest in- the well-being of the USA.
The question is: who is running him? The BackRoom Gang, all radical socialists – such as Soros… they run him to get statism into the US.
The BackRoom Gang’s VPs, such as Pelosi and Reid, run Obama to get money for their power-brokers, the public unions, the pork-projects.
Obama himself has only one focus: Himself as a stage star. He’s not interested in debate, analysis, criticism. Just cheers from the crowd. And vacations and golf and parties.

  10. Oblamebush is really not the problem. Its the majority of American voters who voted for him that is the problem. What’s more there is a likelihood that they will vote for him again.

  11. I agree with Gord Tulk, both times. Actually, all of the above.
The Peggy Joseph equivalents in Canada are the reason why the Liberals and NDP get so many votes. Taliban Jack and Mr. Iffy will just pay for improved social programs out of their own pockets because they care for us.
BTW Joe, just ignore the baiter troll that you had an exchange with yesterday.

  12. And I agree with Ken (Kulak)!
60% of Canadians now vote for the Socialists and Communists as represented by the ND’s, Libranos and the Blocheads in Quebec making Canada two thirds already Peggy Josephied, …….lusting to suck at the government teat.
But then our municipal elected officials are not a hell of a lot better, here in Oxford County, Ontario, I can’t even get the newly elected council to set an example and agree freeze their own pay for two years, in this recession.
Self serving Peggy Joseph’es, in power.

  13. “BTW Joe, just ignore the baiter troll that you had an exchange with yesterday.”
But I like ET! Even if she does get a little obtuse at times she means well. Oh you mean that other fellow. Sorry my bad.

  14. Obama was in Chicago and the way to power there is more social assistance.Itis hardly suprising that he would use the same idea in the gulf. Not social assistance but unemplyment forever.

  15. Joe nailed it!
    GTulk said:

Is it that he has no clue, or is it he doesn’t care? Yesterday ET wrote about Socialists and their ingrained inability to look forward. This appears to be part of the Socialist DNA; lets call it a genetic flaw, that ensures that socialism implodes on itself regardless of the time, date or place. Say what you might about ET Joe, but in my view, she’s been one of the most consistent commenter(s) on things related to sociology, and she’s never bought into the doomsday scenario that us on the Right like to purchase in bulk regarding the Left. She takes a very scientific and emotionless approach to such topics and seems to be immune to the peaks and valleys others go through when discussing these topics over the years. JMO
If this theory holds water, then in my mind, it makes a very strong case for Intelligent Design. So if there is a God, we can be very thankful for that.

  16. Zero their Trudeau, only worse, because he started from a worse position, and worse because Turdeau was a true believer, so when cancer gratefully wasted the pig, the idiodicy died with him. Zero is being run, and his puppeteers won’t all die without creating new followers.
Can you imagine what would hapen here if PET’s wretched spawn that resulted from his union with the drunken drugged out rock groupie produced?

  17. Whenever I hear a regular Progressive speak, I can’t help but feel that I am listening to a child. They fall for every quick-fix that comes along and never look beyond the next polls. Once in a while these useful idiots are lead by a socialist with a plan (Chavez, Castro, Lenin). My only question is on which side of the teleprompter is the PLAN located?

  18. Indiana said “She (ET)takes a very scientific and emotionless approach to such topics and seems to be immune to the peaks and valleys others go through when discussing these topics over the years. You are right and that is probably the best way to approach the topic of “socialists”, however it is hard for those whose people have experienced the finer moments of the socialist world to be emotionless about the topic.
Joe, oops,I did not mean ET, but I think you know who I meant.
Joe Molnar, please do not paint all municipalities with the same brush…there are few Rob Fords out in the hinterland.

  19. Those who read Five Feet of Fury – and if you don’t, what’s wrong with you? – will know that Kathy Shaidle often suggests that women not be allowed to vote. Since this isn’t actually going to happen the lefties can stop screaming. Still, it’s indisputable that women vote to the left often enough to turn many national elections in the States and elsewhere. I do think that there should be some sort of qualification on the franchise. Obviously this kind of thing got a deservedly evil name in the pre-Civil Rights South, but there should be something – Intelligence? (no, I don’t trust those tests; anyway Noam Chomsky probably has a real high IQ, and I wish he wouldn’t vote) – Property? (like the Founders intended) – Basic Civics Knowledge? (I wouldn’t trust the people administering the quizzes)…
Thank God for voter sloth, most of the time. I doubt Peggy Joseph usually votes. One of the big moves on the part of the left is/will be to try to get traditional non-voters to vote, by force if necessary (like in Australia, where you have to cast a ballot). Federal prisoners, members of the underclass, homeless drug-addicts, people who can’t spell the word “vote”, Peggy Joseph… rich and vibrant Democrat constituencies all.

  20. I don’t believe Obama is doing what he does by accident or out of stupidity. He has his handlers, as so many politicians do, and he’s following THEIR plan quite nicely.
Soros made a couple of billion shorting the Pound a few years back, I’d like to know his position of the Yankee Buck this Spring.
George Soros, the Paul Desmerais of the U.S.

  21. I don’t agree with just blaming the ‘American people’ for voting for Obama and releasing Obama himself from culpability. Obama, in his own nature as a malignant narcissist, anti-American, anti-white, anti-capitalist, intellectually barren and amoral —-bears a great deal of blame for what is happening in America now.
If he weren’t any of the above description, then he would take a moral and principled stand, and reject the policies and programs given to him by the BackRoom Gang (Soros, Pelosi, Reid etc).
Instead, he supports them, tries to ram them through Congress, exhorting their passage without debate or reading (a clear rejection of the FACT that government rests with the people – not with a King). He can’t answer questions about any policies – and that’s why he doesn’t take press interviews – including his famous one where he left Bill Clinton to explain the tax policy.
The American people voted for him, within a communication fog of emotion and ‘white-outs’ where key information was hidden (Obama’s past); where the electorate was tired of war and anger; and where the platform was utopian. Pure utopia: an end to partisanship, racism, anger..and so on and on.
The fact is: Obama is the most partisan, divisive, thin-skinned, intolerant and malicious president the US has ever had. The electorate is more class and racially divided than it has ever been…and he plays one set against the other.
Finally, the electorate is waking up, but it’s hard to believe that one was so misled, that Obama and his Smiley Face is really an ignorant and arrogant cad who has no interest in the well-being of America. So, it takes a tremendous effort to see below the smile and the wave…and to acknowledge that not merely utopia doesn’t exist, but, the oceans do rise..and fall. Quite naturally.
By the way – I’m an atheist, and disagree both with the notion of god and intelligent design. After all, both are rather similar in that they include intentionality. I disagree. That there IS design – I’ll certainly agree with. We have only to consider the five petals so common in flowers, the arrangement of atoms and molecules, the interaction of all of life to realize that design is a major factor. But, it’s self-organized design. There’s no Designer.

  22. “I don’t agree with just blaming the ‘American people’ for voting for Obama”
Of course not and what’s more I don’t blame a drunken little tart when she shows on my doorstep with a child in her womb either. It was the booze induced euphoria that caused the pregnancy.
It wasn’t my fault I bought a ‘write off’ from a curber the other day either. The paint was just so fresh and new and the seller was such a nice guy how was I to know that the darn thing was totaled two weeks before in a multi-car pile up. Its not like its up to me to check the record or something.
BTW blaming your personal absence of God doesn’t cut it either.
The American people had a clear choice to make and failed to do due diligence. Oblamebush did not seize power in a coup d’etat. He was elected by the majority.

  23. Thanks for the link Kate. The reality is that Obama is a strange creature – a millionaire welfare recipient, with the keen understanding of economics of a welfare recipient. A job is a check, a welfare check is a check and there is no difference between the two. Welfare checks come in unending supplies from … the government … which has an unending supply of money. And that money can used to buy stuff that just sort of appears because some people just like to produce things while others prefer to collect their government checks without bothering to produce things. In the minds of welfare recipients there is no logical connection between production and income; an economy is a perpetual motion machine that never stops no matter what you do. Any ideas to the contrary that he may pay lip service to are simply a verbal fog that he really does not believe, but he needs to say them because other people believe them.

  24. I think one can blame the media as well for carrying the ball for Soros and his ilk,Obama is an empty suit teleprompting his handler’s propoganda. Why the nazi collaborator Soros is not in a jail cell somewhere is stunning once one does any research on this snake.

  25. joe- I don’t blame my ‘personal absence of god’ on anything. I’m an atheist; I don’t believe in a god(s) or in an intelligent designer. I certainly believe in order (and even some randomness!) but it’s self-organized order.
I said that I don’t believe JUST the American people for their election of Obama, for that excuses Obama, the radical Democrats, Soros, Pelosi, Reid et all, the MSM and so on. Why should this set be removed from culpability and the entire blame for Obama be put just on the electorate?
That’s like the Mexican’s declaring that they aren’t to blame for the US/Mexican drug war; the real cause, they say, is the Americans who want to purchase drugs. They, the Mexicans, are just hapless victims in this whole thing.
Or, Canadians blame Americans for guns-in-Canada, ignoring that we Canadians purchase those guns and use them.
So, I don’t JUST blame the electorate for Obama. I blame Obama’s ego and narcissism and his utter lack of ethics and principles.. and the radical Democrats and the leftist utopians and their agents, the MSM.
As for checking Obama’s record, since ALL his records, including his birth, his entire schooling, who funded his schooling, his work etc, have all been removed and are off-limits to the public, then, we the public still can’t check up on him. How about that, Joe?
moneyrunner – thanks; that’s a nice outline of Obama’s mindset. Exactly.

  26. ET you go to school a lot so I’ll keep it real simple. If I walked through the doors to your school administration and said “Hi I’m here for the teaching position but I won’t let you see my credentials.” Would your school hire me? If they would then why? Because I had a smiley face? Because my skin colour was the colour du jour? Because I had a marching band and a bunch of scantily clad cheerleaders yelling my name?
Before the election I pointed out to several of my American friends that they were buying a ‘pig in a poke” if they voted for Oblamebush as he was being presented to them. They brushed my warnings aside. They didn’t want to hear about the lack of scholastic records or birth certificate or published articles or personal history or….. Their attitude was ‘Don’t confuse me with facts my mind is made up’.
I’m not an American but I could spot that fraud about two weeks after he started to run in the primaries. It took that long only because I was focused on Shrillery. The biggest issue though is that there is a real likelihood of his re-elected as he has been able to put most of his tarnish onto Congress.

  27. ‘will know that Kathy Shaidle often suggests that women not be allowed to vote.’
I think she might have jacked that one from me. The difference is, I’m joking, she’s serious. I believe this is less about gender, and more about education. When women were granted the right to vote (here and the US), I’d argue that the largest percentage of women were not knowledgeable voters. Coming from the kitchen, with a different education than given to men, women were instantly giving the unearned responsibility of casting a ballot. This naive voting block (the biggest) was obviously the low hanging fruit, eagerly snatched-up by the socialists. After all, they’re the most aggrieved group in history right?
Forward to the future, where there are millions and millions of knowledgeable women with likely better educations that their husbands, and what appears to be a massive shift of this demographic to a small ‘c’ conservative philosophy, and what do you get? You get the socialist movement desperate for another significant, under educated, and aggrieved voting block. Hence, the massive push for third world immigration, and wait for it… a push to lower the voting age to 16 years old, for today’s most aggrieved group, our kids(made them keep last years cell phones).
This is why I am the biggest, and likely the only advocate for raising the voting age to 25. Actually, what I really support is changing the voting criteria to white guys named Jon, who cheer for the Chiefs, live in S’toon, and has a made-up fantasy of Black Mamba in his mind. Those are the only people that should vote. Period!
    Mambaa
My dad always told me that everyone should get one vote for every tax dollar they pay. And yeah, I’ve never bought the line that we need to get everyone out to vote. Nope, let the morons stay home! The Dippers want to lower the voting age, I say raise it to 25yrs old. After all, don’t the Progressives now tell us that adolescence has been extended into the mid late twenties?

  28. The fact is: Obama is the most partisan, divisive, thin-skinned, intolerant and malicious president the US has ever had.
    Succinct……….
Thread winner. It will be in the history books, in Mandarin.

  29. It’s nature, Indy. Women like security – i.e. Big Government – and they like to manage people’s lives, as if they were children. Not that it’s all women – I keep telling you people, we’re all androgyns – but enough to swing elections.

  30. “But, it’s self-organized design. There’s no Designer.”
So that’s how that truck showed up in my driveway! What a relief I thought maybe that FORD sign on the front of it meant someone had designed and built the stupid thing. Hey I wonder will my truck multiply if I find it a mate? Would an undesigned Chevy do the trick?

  31. The main reason I lable civil war/civil violence an emotional event is because that is exactly what it is…..a temper tantrum writ large.
When tyrany arises regardless it’s political alignment….it is because the normal peaceful checks and balances are missing or have been suppressed.
The communists/statists/totalitarians frequently have used this to gain power. Because of this the Soros/Pelossi/Reid axis really freaked when the TEA party movement arose.
They could envision this morphing into a violent revolution against them and proceeded to accuse the TEA-party of motives and acts of violent revolution. They simply could not imagine a political movement against them being peaceful, polite and picking up their garbage.
The extreme hate towards the TEA party is really simple gut-wrenching fear. They literally see themselves hanging from lamposts.
A combination of frustration and self defence against a predictable violent offensive by the left against perceived opposition will likely incite the “emotional event”.
The left will not peacefully surrender their position democratically….they will literally fight to the end. They always have and always will.

  32. U might be right Mamba, there is likely some DNA involved, but I still think that the ‘low hanging fruit’ theory holds water.
