Federal Environment Minister John Baird arrives at the global climate summit Tuesday looking to administer last rites to the Kyoto Protocol, at least in its current form. But the funeral may have to wait for next year’s session in South Africa.
For Prime Minister Stephen Harper, the end of Canada’s commitment to Kyoto would achieve a long-standing goal, as he has opposed the accord since its inception in 1997 and distanced his government from it since taking office five years ago.
Related! One of Al Gore’s campaigns to save the planet has scaled back its field operations since climate legislation failed earlier this year in Congress.

Now can we just get on with the warming … my heating bill is getting stupid.
Funeral, eh. I guess the proper thing to do is to send flowers. In the spirit of Kyoto’s intentions and motivations, I consulted a copy of The Language of Flowers and decided to send a bouquet of aconite and lobelia. Does anyone have Suzuki’s address?
Does anyone have Suzuki’s address?
For which of his palatial homes? The senile old hypocrite has a few …
To borrow a quote from Kate, with a little change.
“Kyoto, not quite dead enough!”
Good, perhaps now we can enact environmental policies founded on helping mother earth instead of lining the econuts pockets with cold and our silver.
It would appear as if Suzuki has moved on from the AGW threat. A quick scan of the Suzuki Foundation site reveals one mention of the Cancun confab dated November 29th.
And it ticks me off when these reports mention Crétin signing the Accord that they all fail to mention that he didn’t do anything about it until the last year or so of his third government. And then it was SFA contrasted to what he had signed Canada on to do.
The sad thing is that it’s really impossible for us to track how many fossil of the day awards. I want to see a higher total than Copenhagen, but all the environmental groups are so poorly organized that there’s no place to find out how we’re doing.
Come to think of it, I’m glad that they’re so poorly organized.
Rose, you got it. However I do not believe for one second that the Marxist anti-capitalists will give up.
Are we gonna have a wake, for Al Gores scam, I propose we burn some tires, and throw some seal blubber on to keep it going..
PET Cemetery AGW Lepolt.
The latest hyperbolic bilge from the TO Red Star.
“Baird heads to the talks in Cancun Tuesday with the eyes of much of the world trained squarely on the Conservative government.”
“Christiana Figueres, the Costa Rican executive secretary of the UN climate change process, outed the four nations last week in Cancun,”.
Baird tosses out the bait with this:
““We have the Copenhagen Accord. I think the most constructive thing is to put the meat on the bones of that,” he said.”

” Oh please: As if Harper and the rightwingers are really going to do something to protect the environment and…… mkbarekg1″
I love Rex Murphy’s column in the National Post today. He’s getting to be a regular James Delingpole.

Next year in South Africa, eh? Gotta stay away from those colder regions and hold it somewhere hot so they’ll think the planet is heating up real fast.
Maz, I particularly like the Star describing Canada, Australia, Russia and Japan as the ‘axis of evil’.

“*Heavy snow sparks further chaos”
“Britain is enduring more snow and sub-zero temperatures at the start of another week of bitterly cold weather.
Snow swept across southern Scotland during the day on Monday, disrupting air, rail and road travel, and is forecast to move into northern England overnight.
The death toll during the big freeze rose to at least nine as it was revealed that a man had died while trying to clear snow outside his home in County Durham on Sunday and an elderly man was found dead in the snow at a caravan park in Humberside.
The Met Office said there are between 10cm and 40cm of lying snow in the central lowlands of Scotland, around 32cm in Edinburgh and 11cm in Glasgow.”

“GOP’s Global Warming Skeptics to Take House Chairs on Energy, Science”
“Scientists Anxious About Incoming Republicans Who Deny Global Warming”
“All of the contenders in line to head the prestigious House committees responsible for setting America’s energy and science policy are global warming skeptics, and that’s causing scientists to worry that Republicans will use their new positions for political grandstanding at the expense of scientific advancement.”
“The Republicans, who will take over leadership of the House in January, have not yet announced who will chair the Energy and Commerce Committee or the Science and Technology Committee, but the short lists for both committees consist solely of congressmen who question the veracity of climate change.”

If there are four more beautiful words in the English language than “Federal Environment Minister John Baird”, I don’t know what they are.
STOP now maz2,tolerance of your common sense and insighful comments will only go so far, you are causing great hardship to EKG or whatever his thimblebrain uses for a moniker this week. Maz, chant after me, I will not rely on my brains anymore, I will give myself over to the goddess of basket weaving and squiggly light bulbs Ickstal Gaia. Pass the Tequila now, this next week of lunacy in Cancun will demand lots of that to see globull warming is real here in Canada.
Is it me, or has there been a real lack of stories on the fact that AGW is circling the great white bowl at warp factor seven? Nobody important is even -in- Cancun this week. They all stayed home.
Phantom, that’s entirely the case. The story count is way down, because everything that’s happening runs entirely counter to the MSM narrative over the past 10 years. The MSM mostly missed all the signs that Copenhagen was going to be an abject failure, but it’s finally sunk in on them. Not one national leader is going, only environment ministers. Remember that most of the MSM are nothing more than political gossip columnists. When they see all their political celebs staying away, well, that’s their bread and butter.
There’s an old Arabic saying: “Success has a thousand fathers, but failure is an orphan.” When even the leading greens stay away, you know it’s done like dinner.
The Phantom-
I’ve been on Watts Up With That? 24/7 to make sure it goes down the trap, and into the sewer.
