Allan Rock: First He Came For Your Property …

Via Take Back Your School;

On receiving, drip by drip, the transcripts of the emails that senior university staff sent between each other, some with redacted areas, CFOB also came to learn that as requested, the social networking site Facebook had been used to find out which students were attending the meeting. One message, sent on 30 November 2007 by Steve Bernique, assistant director of operations at the university, said “I love this programme [Facebook]! Now we know who is going to attend.”
A screen shot of the list was distributed amongst the higher echelons of the university as they discussed possible ways of blocking the event, including making use of university facilities out of the financial reach of groups such as ERI and CFOB.

“I think it’s quite incomprehensible; I don’t understand the actions of any academic institution spying on students and the community expressing their academic right and freedom; it’s preposterous,” says Hameed. “It wasn’t clear to me who the spies were but all the same it was quite distressing that students could be induced or paid to spy on fellow students and human rights activities.”
One member of the audience had deeper reasons for feeling distressed: octogenarian Harvey Su is the oldest Karen refugee in Canada. He was “appalled” by the surveillance, a phenomenon he thought he had fled.
“Who are these University of Ottawa presidents, vice presidents and security staff working for exactly? The people of Ontario? Or are they working for the Desmarais family, the oil companies and the Burmese military regime? This I really want to know.”

  1. A sure indication that people know they cannot defend or justify their views is to seek by all means to prevent dissenting views from being heard or read. It is nothing more than pure totalitarianism, whether it comes from the so-called Right, Left or Centre.

  2. Allan Rock- he’s lower than the slime on a snake’s belly. A two-faced coward who ran out of town when he knew the ‘letter’ from the esteemed U of Zero Prefect Frank Ahole to Ann Coulter would ignite a shitstorm. His thinking- that he’d let it blow over and let his underlings take the flak and eventually he’d be able to slither back to his hole.
Don’t ever forget this was the Liberal SOB who who foisted the infamous Bill C68 (Gun Control) on this nation, (with his calm assurances and false promises… No, outright lies!!). Not satisfied with that, he wallowed in on The Canada Health Act, screwed around with it until he had to go stateside for his own procedure, then came home to phuck it up some more!
    HYPOCRIT! (But naturally, MSM Darling).

  3. Kinda creepy.
If any of the U of Ottawa’s benefactors have any pecuniary interests whatsoever in Total, the U’s behaviour would be doubly creepy, and, frankly, a scandal.

  4. All bad roads in Canada seem to lead to the Liberal$ and their puppet masters, the Desmarais Family.
The media, except for the National Post and a few brave others — any chance that’s why Conrad Black’s in jail? — are obviously afraid to say anything or to expose the sordid network these guys control.
O Canada. Poor Canada. Duped Canada.

  5. A nest of shopworn Lieberals and marxist losers turning out processed meat for the fed civil service and assorted hangers on. What’s not to like?

  6. Allan Rock, isn’t he ex-media, was he the dork I saw fawning over Lennon and Yoko in the bedroom in Toronto, oh so many years ago, with the black horn-rimmed glasses?

  7. “… octogenarian Harvey Su is the oldest Karen refugee in Canada…”
Wow! Just how old is this fearsome Karen from whom he’s a refugee?

  8. @ Larben
Yesterday’s Pop Cultural event is today’s history lesson for you.
The Bed in for Peace was held in Montreal, not Toronto in 1969. I believe the “horn rimmed” media person you were referring to was John Robertson, who did a couple of interviews with John and Yoko.
Alan Rock was not at the bed in, per Wikipedia:
“As a student leader in 1970 he met John Lennon and drove him around Ottawa while he was hosting him for a “peace conference” he was holding. He had invited Lennon to Ottawa after his famous “bed-in” in Montreal. He tried to introduce Lennon to Pierre Trudeau, but the prime minister was not at home when they dropped by.”
But since in other threads you’ve tsk-tsk’d Pop Culture, I guess I shouldn’t have expected you to know much about what happened back then.

  9. Al; was not that DOPE, Rock, the limo driver for those pot-headed miscreants Lennon and Okoyono? I honestly think Allan Rock was trying to institute dumb control but Jean misunderstood him, Jean couldn’t speak or hear english.

  10. Dumb control? Was Rock trying to legislate Liberals out of existence? lol

  11. Harvey Su is the oldest Karen refugee in Canada. He was “appalled” by the surveillance, a phenomenon he thought he had fled.
“Who are these University of Ottawa presidents, vice presidents and security staff working for exactly?
That’s a million dollar question no Kanukistan MSM outlet has the balls to investigate.

  12. The Socialist evolution of Allan Rock’s University of Ottawa is complete, they’ve banned bottled water. We’ll probably see fountains springing up all over the campus.
The students are down to drinking river water and risk becoming true sh*t heads if something else goes awry given the city of Ottawa has frequently had oops moments when raw sewage escapes into the river.

  13. Thanks big Al, I knew there would be someone who could answer that, I was only 20 at the time, but even then I was far too square to really care. I mean, how important this must have been to world peace, and I practically slept through it all. Pierre may have been in Cuba at the time letting that murderer Castro dandle his infant sons. Oh well, at least it wasn’t the Pope or some priest!

  14. Wow, major issue of institutional abuse of power. If only there was a prominent human rights lawyer at the UofO to take up the cause.
Oh thats right there is, Amir Attaran. But I guess he is too busy with other issues to care about a problem with his own institution. Or he wouldnt see it as a problem, since human rights only belong to certain classes of people, or those who think correctly.
    What a hypocrite.

  15. Well we all know if the conservatives had done this it would be front page news, from St Johns to Victoria.
LPoC and the MSM’s avert their biased gazes,
Is it not time to pull all funds from these Liberal party propaganda machines?

  16. @Larben,
I was only 12 in the summer of ’69, but I have the recollection of events of that time, as per family tradition growing up, our family always read the local paper together and watched news programs, and engaged in dialogue and discussion of the events of the day.
A practice that has been worthwhile to follow to this day and it sustains my nose for news.

  17. larben, the bed-in for peace was in 1969, Trudeau didn’t marry Margaret until 1971,so it’s unlikely he was in Cuba letting Castro “dandle” his infant sons.

  18. Quick…name me one thing Rock hasn’t screwed up.
And remember this: the Globe and Mail, Toronto Star, Montreal Gazette were hailing this incompetent clown as the next PM.
Want to bet they’ll do the same thing with Pierre’s pup?

  19. Thanks dmorris – Still Trudeau did let the murderer Fidel Castro dandle his little darlings, and I believe it is Sacha, the incredibly bad journalist who still calls him Uncle Fidel.

  20. I flew for Okanagan Helicopters offshore from Burma on two tours in late 1975 and early 1976. A Japanese company, Arakan Oil, had contracted Okanagan to fly the shift changes back and forth from rigs a short distance offshore.. Our base was at Kyaupyu (pronounced Chowpoo). On the video it is named as the start point for the gas pipeline. Burma was ruled even then by a brutal socialist junta. Dealing with such regimes does not seem to faze the Demarais family or pose any ethical problems for them or their Liberal Party sycophants.

  21. I still fondly recall Allan Runt’s frustration, after C68 was enacted, the first dealine passed, when he directed Canada’s Police forces to “vigourously seek out unregistered firearms and unlicenced owners”.
The police demurred citing lack of resources and unwillingness to damage public support.
It seems the GTA gun-grabbers are 2 decades tardy…
IMHO McSquinty and Runt are a matching set of weasels.
