Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

The federal government has sole and exclusive authority to legislate anything related to ‘indians’ and the ‘land indians reside upon’.
That’s why the feds coughed up for the negotiators and covered overtime for the police.
I think it’s more important to note that the ‘law’, the provincial government, the federal government, and every ‘authority’ involved here has abdicated their responsibility.
And now, they use the power and resources of the state to fight against the people they were to protect.
Such is the leadership from ‘authorities’.
Native Americans do not have any right to traditional land. They took whatever land that they roamed from other tribes and never looked back. It was all about how much land a band could defend against others – naturally.
I’m sick of the whitey guilt that I’m supposed to feel. I was no where near the Native Americans 150 years ago, I didn’t sign any treaties, and when someone legally purchases land, it should be theirs’ (however, Canada, with its lack of property rights, SUCKS). Native land claims are a whole lotta hooey and even worse is this idea that natives are entitled to royalties from oil and gas exploration! Ha!!! If Natives were here living a native way of life there would be absolutely no oil or gas exploration ever!!
What many fail to realise is that aboriginal people fought with each other. Who nearly wiped out the Wendat (commonly known as the Huron)? The Iroquois did. Do all Indian tribes get along and are banding together to re-obtain what is rightfully theirs? No. How do you mark the land of nomads, anyway? Are all Canadians guilty of past aggression? Tell that to first generation or new citizens.
Whatever problems aboriginal people have aren’t going to be solved by thuggery or instilling guilt. Nine times out of ten, they hurt themselves with their inaction, thuggery or infighting.
“Any real resistance would send them running for cover.”
There are a lot of loud idiots at the front of these little skirmishes but the Mohawks themselves can be pretty tough if they want. For a couple generations it was standard practice for all Mohawks to join the Marine Corp. In the 70’s the cops would be pretty worried about dealing with any Mohawk trouble knowing that all of the Mohawks they were dealing with had military training and most of them had been to Vietnam. Not sure if that is the case today. Just pointing it out though.
atric:
You’ve come the closest in the whole thread. McGuinty may be a feckless liar, but he’s not totally stupid. He saw how Mike Harris got crucified over Ipperwash, and he’s not anxious to repeat the experience.
So, what’s a gutless politician to do? Run away and hide, of course, and hope that no one else mentions the problem. Good on Blatchford for keeping up the pressure, although I admit I’m surprised the G&M editors are letting her run.
OPP no longer means Ontario Provincial Police
It means Ontario Political Police.
Can’t disagree with you hardboiled, but with one exception.
The issue is one of land claims. Land claims are the exclusive responsibily of the provincial government. This whole mess is being dealt with
in Cayuga Ontario, the counry seat for Haldimand County Ontario.
Having said that, I totally agree that ALL levels of government have abdicated their responsibility
in this matter.
I have some knowledge of how federal as well as provincial governments deal with the Natives on daily, more mundane affairs. It isn’t pretty.
I’m not stupid enough to disclose details here.
That may sound like a cop-out but believe me, you wouldn’t either.

…just sayin’
Ontario Pretend Police……………
As a person who grew up in Wetaskiwin, Ab and also one who has native relatives I can honestly say there are a lot of natives in this country who can’t stand the idea of reserves or “free” money.
Many of my native friends can’t stand the crap that other natives pull in this country they also hate the fact they get away with it.
In my experience I find it is only the ones who have no ambition who create these kinds of incidents. They are also the ones who are most fanatical about “losing” their culture.
The best thing that could happen to the native people who want to be a part of Canada is having a government that will stick up to those who don’t.
not stirred enough,
if I remember correctly, texas canuck had a long career in the Canadian forces before he decided to get a job and make some money. Can that be considered doing something?
Kate and Kathy have two of the most successful conservative blogs in the blogosphere. They influence a lot of opinion. Even down here in the States. Kathy actually shows up at various rallies, sometimes as a speaker. Does any of this qualify as doing anything?
How about you? What are you doing?
I’m sure not stirred enough will do something amazing just as soon as he gets his own apartment. Then watch out.
Well Ontario is stupid but England is really, really stupid . . .

A former soldier in England has been arrested and convicted (and may even go to jail for five years) because he found a gun in his yard and he turned it over to the police. I presume this is in part a reflection of the anti-gun ideology embedded in UK law, but don’t prosecutors and judges have even a shred of discretion to avoid foolish prosecutions and/or protect innocent people from absurd charges? Here is the news report:
A former soldier who handed a discarded shotgun in to police faces at least five years imprisonment for “doing his duty”. Paul Clarke, 27, was found guilty of possessing a firearm at Guildford Crown Court on Tuesday – after finding the gun and handing it personally to police officers on March 20 this year. The jury took 20 minutes to make its conviction, and Mr Clarke now faces a minimum of five year’s imprisonment for handing in the weapon. In a statement read out in court, Mr Clarke said: “I didn’t think for one moment I would be arrested.”
… The court heard how Mr Clarke was on the balcony of his home in Nailsworth Crescent, Merstham, when he spotted a black bin liner at the bottom of his garden. In his statement, he said: “I took it indoors and inside found a shorn-off shotgun and two cartridges. “I didn’t know what to do, so the next morning I rang the Chief Superintendent, Adrian Harper, and asked if I could pop in and see him. “At the police station, I took the gun out of the bag and placed it on the table so it was pointing towards the wall.” Mr Clarke was then arrested immediately for possession of a firearm at Reigate police station, and taken to the cells.
… Prosecuting, Brian Stalk, explained to the jury that possession of a firearm was a “strict liability” charge – therefore Mr Clarke’s allegedly honest intent was irrelevant. Just by having the gun in his possession he was guilty of the charge, and has no defence in law against it, he added.
… Judge Christopher Critchlow said: “This is an unusual case, but in law there is no dispute that Mr Clarke has no defence to this charge. “The intention of anybody possessing a firearm is irrelevant.”
Not stirred enough, your comment at 1:19pm has got to be one of the most ridiculous ones I have ever heard on the subject. You are a prime example of those people who do nothing for those natives who want to be a part of this country.
Maybe if you integrated with the natives a little bit or at least talked to the half breeds(yes, I can get away with saying that), you might realize that the government and the OPP is in the wrong here.
You wouldn’t have a clue how hard of a fight it is for young natives especially, who want a wild fire of change sweeping through their people.
I was disappointed when Blatchy went over to the G&M, but am heartened to see that she continues her good work.
not stirred : I hope someday when your old and grey all set in life content you worked hard, obeyed the country’s laws, raised your kids and eased into retirement. Only to have a bunch of lazy asses with brown skin lay claim to your property and as you realize your paying for their lawyers and trying to raise enough concern and money to pay your own many thousand dollar defense of “your” property you think back to your asinine comments and have the balls to realize how stupid you where, and wish more people like Kate, Kathy and the other “zeros” would rise to your defence.
From what I’ve seen they do a hell whole of a lot more than government has for their “civilized” tax payers.
I sat in a meeting years ago watching seniors some in tears discussing the land claim against them, the arena should have been full but by then the local residents did what Canadians do best forget and “fall back to sleep”. The federal government a Liberal one back then did dick squat.
Talking to residents at the time and seeing what was going on, I’m pretty sure Liberals don’t have a clue what real tolerance is, or that there just might be a limit and someday someone might just think themselves and their property worth defending, without all the politically correct mumbo jumbo…. thus cutting through all the BS.
Was a time when one didn’t feed the trolls around here. Times change. When there was a small indian uprising in Quebec, the army was there, as I recall. Frogs are the number one unresolved issue in Canada, IMO. I tink, dem der tings der eeehh….
Azphiks, not everyone with an opposing view is a troll. I know too many white guys who think as he does too.
forget the too at the end
Someones going to get shot here.
I can’t wait. There will be a LOT of ‘splaining to do…..
Until this rot is scraped out. No police force in this Country can hold their heads up as protectors of the law, or the Citizens of this Nation. Again with the Politically correct not sane approach.
I agree with the REAL policeman that got to the core of it. How many incidents or bodies will it take to wake these dreamers up?
The turning point came when he overheard a woman talking on the phone to a police dispatcher, saying she wouldn’t give her name because she was afraid. “The police won’t do anything,” the woman said, “Who is going to help us?”
It was, he said, “a perception I could share.”
The trial resumes Monday.
eastern paul, somebody already got shot. He just didn’t die. May 17th 2007. After the DCE was occupied for a whole year already.
An “employee” of one of the frickin’ dozens of illegal smoke shops got shot in the arm by one Donald VanEvery with an “AK47”. According to eye witness accounts VanEvery was seen on the DCE occupation site shortly before he aired out the smoke shack with his trusty, amazingly illegal and fully banned AK assault weapon of murder/death/kill/bad.
Jail time upon conviction for spraying a building he knew was occupied and hitting somebody? A building right beside a major highway with people driving past at the time, incidentally? With a banned instrument of destruction? 4 1/2 years.
According to the news, the good Mr. VanEvery has had 74 previous convictions (not charges folks, convictions) 43 of which were gun related. 4 1/2 years my friends. Its possible he may be out already.
OPP sat on their hands while he was shooting the place up. They were 100 feet away. They called the 6 Nations cops and WAITED. Google it.
“The intention of anybody possessing a firearm is irrelevant.”

this is truly frightening.
there’s a schwack of google citations, here’s one of the better ones:
newportcity.blogspot.com/2009/11/paul-clarke-police-guidelines-show.html
I think Im gonna bypass not-so-great britain when I finally get over to that part of the globe.
I can hardly believe that this is happening in Canada today. The OPP are paid extremely well to protect the people and basically enforce the law. They and their political masters have totally abandoned that responsibility. They talk of the need for a gun registry, and sit and watch natives ignore all rules and existing regulations.
Since Ipperwash, the Ont. government has refused to appply the law to natives. The testimony about AK47s is particularly frightening. The authorities know where hand guns and assault rifles are being smuggled into Ont. but refuse to act. I hope this court case wakens Ontaians up, if not then nothing will.
Mission Statement – “To Swerve and Defect”
Their suit doesn’t stand a chance. If it is successful, every homeowner who is burgaled, every person who is mugged, every car owner who has his vehicle stolen can claim the police failed to protect them, pay me! Forget about it!
re VanEvery:
caledoniawakeupcall dot wordpress.com/2008/10/21/ak-47-shooter-gets-a-big-kiss-from-cayuga-crown/
I used to subscribe to the web site but found it just too depressing seeing how the people in Caledonia were getting shafted daily from all directions.
Phantom: the idea is not to shut you up. It is to make you think outside of the box. Ah, it always goes above your heads.
Aaron, the OPP do not do full tactical stops for traffic tickets. I have -never- had a tactical stop in Canada, anywhere. Except that one time in Caledonia. Even in the States the two man tactical stop is very rare, they only bother with it if you’re acting funny or driving a crappy car in a dodgy neighborhood.
The implication is obvious enough for even trusting old white people like myself to get the picture. We all got the picture around here, believe me. Its all anybody talks about.
As Fantino and McGuinty are discovering, that crap doesn’t work here. They’re getting some serious pushback they didn’t count on.
That the “backlash” is happening in court and is aimed against the cops and the government is an extremely salient point, one which is being roundly ignored by almost everyone. Indians are not getting beat up in Caledonia when they go shopping. Indians are not having their kids smacked around in school. Indians are in fact not being singled out for bad behavior of any sort, by anyone.
I live here in Cayuga, I shop at the Canadian Tire and the Zehr’s store right fricking next to the DCE pretty much every week, I see the old ladies and the kids from the reserve around all the time, and I see them NOT getting looked at funny by the evil racist white people.
That’s because everybody knows this is not an Indian thing. Its an organized crime thing, it has been for 20 years at least, and the -only- reason it exists at all is because the province wants it that way. People on the reserve are getting f-ed over worse than anybody. We all know this. Duh!
I also see that every time Gary McHale has some kind of event or protest, 200 cops show up, stand with their backs to the Mohawk Warrior cretins and face the evil racist white people. And get assaulted from -behind-. Like clockwork, the violent, racist hordes of “settlers” stand around and sing O Canada, while the organized crime a-holes and Leftist useful union idiots bussed in specially from Toronto scream abuse, throw things and try to engage anyone and everyone in fisticuffs.
I notice that the Mohawk jerkoffs tried this same land claims crap in Ancaster, 2008, at the new fair grounds, and they didn’t last long. City of Hamilton police department showed up with a couple of cars, and the protesters f-ed off right smartly. Never came back.
Interesting.
So what part is going over my head again?
Phantom
only Timmies I’v ever seen with a lock on the crapper is the one in Caledonia:-)))
