Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

The former president’s biggest problem was that he went too far left from a conservative standpoint in order to appease the Dems and ended up short on all of his goals. I would still trust and respect this man over any other elected official in power now.
Exactly, Texas Canuck. That’s the problem with a lot of Republicans today.
In an effort to get the media, and the left, to like them they start betraying conservative principles for popularity. Which never, ever works. McCain’s failed campaign should be proof of that.
The differences between a W prez and an O prez:
With the W you get ups and downs but you eventually finish upward.
With the O you feel like your going around in a circle and eventually feel imprisoned.
History books (If they still exist in a totalirian future world) will be much kinder to George Bush.
with the O you feel like your going around in a circle
Yeah, it’s known as “circling the bowl”
Pres Obama and other socialists are under the impression that govt can get a country out of a recession by converting the private sector to public sector with the resulting increase of govt jobs. They forget a simple truth,Govt employies DONT PAY TAX! They are PAID with taxes.
Oh please. Just the death cry of all the bitter clingers.
The only experience Obama has is shaking down (wealthy) companies, using a combination of guilt and sweet sweet words. And it has always worked, because he has been dealing with companies that need to keep up good public relations and maintain profitability through continuous service delivery (read, avoid strikes, protests, etc)
Don’t know if this strategy will play out against North Korea, or some of the hard liners in the Middle East.
O/T – but here is a poll at Maclean’s about whether the government should fall:

So W has finally come out from that rock he’s been hiding under. Does he not realize that it was business not government that created this mess we’re in. Expecting business to police itself is like giving inmates the keys to their own cells.
Agreed that Bush was a good president. One thing to note is his humility; he always accepted dissent and criticism. As he said, repeatedly, ‘it’s their right’.
Whereas, with Obama, he can’t handle any criticism, any dissent. He tries to stifle it, to smear it, to denigrate it, to silence it. He’s constantly whining about those who criticize him.
And, his administration is not open but closed. Notice how he is filling administration with dozens of unaccountable, appointed, loyal-to-him ‘Czars’. He is overriding the constitutioanl checks and balances.
He manipulates and misinforms the public. Look how he treated the AIG bonuses; instead of acknowledging the truth, that his administration had approved them, he bonded himself to public anger and promoted a lynch mob anger. What about his stimulus package, which he blamed on Bush, rather than Democratic greed. What about his firing of the Inspector General Walpin, without any valid reasons (to declare, finally, that he was ‘confused’, which is a conclusion not a reason.
Obama constantly blames others for anything that goes wrong or is wrong – and, insists that he is beyond reproach. Hubris, arrogance and a blind refusal to acknowledge reality.
Rick. You are correct. This may be the death of American.
He wasn’t perfect but he was hitting on all eight when it came to issues critical to the health and survival of the country.
Rick, kiss my rock-ribbed Republican axx.
Uh-huh. I believe I predicted that folks would wish Bush was back, once they got a taste of the medicine Obama’s forcing them to take.

Iconoclast savat
If you are referring to the housing bubble meltdown, you need to do your homework and realize that banks were litarelly forced to lend to people who could not afford mortgages by Freddie Mac and Fannie May…This was started by Carter and opened up full by Clinton. Bush tried to slow it down but was voted out…He did’nt push the case hard enough though.
If you are referring to the exodus of jobs overseas: When your profits are eroded by high taxes and regulations thus you can’t compete on a world stage, you move your operations.
America became great and prosperous because of freedom of entreprenership WHEN governments were small and limited. As governments of every level grew, parallel to the surge of world trade, America’s might started eroding.
No regulations is not an option but unrestrained Government is always a problem.
In today’s free world there are 2 main problems: Too much government and too powerful unions; and they’re in bed together.
iconoclast savat said: “Does he not realize that it was business not government that created this mess we’re in.”
first, isn’t it supposed to be “savant”?
second, the mess was entirely created by government regulations, taxes, and the efforts to get around them. Do you think its reasonable to -force- banks to give billions in home and car loans to people who can’t ever hope to pay it back, merely because they are members of a minority?
Do you think its prudent to relax regulations on banks so they can slice and dice these unpayable loans into financial derivatives and sell them?
If you look back down the postings a bit you’ll see where the level of personal and government debt in the USA is currently about $250,000 for every man woman and child.
Business did all that? I think not.
Obama actually organized a demonstration where a brand of Citibank was occupied until the bank was coerced politically into lending money to people who could not repay it for home mortgages.
That is what the idiot “savat” means by business causing problems. They caved to pressure from community organizers like Obama. They caved to the pressure from the Unions and politicians, they are unable to keep the trial lawyers from driving up malpractice premiums, all of these failures of business.
However, in Obama’s defense, he is still waiting for that check from the Nigerian Prince that will get us all out of this jam.
Rick.. take a look at the poll in the sidebar of the article.
Some blame business, others blame government but let’s not forget the third party in this mess – the people who took out mortgages and loans and then did not pay them back. They deserve the lion’s share of the blame because each and every one of them did it voluntarily. There was no pressure on them from either Washington to social engineer or head office to increase the bottom line.
“”””but let’s not forget the third party in this mess – “”””
and these same dummies voted in poor government, over and over again
GYM, Dummies or not, the people who borrowed money had an obligation, both legal and moral, to repay it. Had they not defaulted, the American economy would not be in the mess it’s in.
I missed W and his lovely wife Laura before they left Washington. I felt safe when W was running the show; even when he had the fanatical Dems running congress – W still had the veto. I saw a good, strong, decent man when I looked or listened to President Bush.
The Zero has always made me think of a loose limbed, big mouthed teenager who has not learned anything about life, compassion, responsibility,…and he is an arrogant adolescent with a very poor attitude.
The lunatics are now in charge of the asylum, IMO. Very unnerving for all people in the Free World.
Miss George Bush?
Hell, I even miss Bill Clinton.
Give me three more months of the Hemi- semi- demi-god, Barack Obama, and I’ll even miss Jimmy Carter!
