Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Americans are a remarkably restrained people. After all, many other nationalities probably would’ve started a civil war by now…
Garth- Most other nationalities would not have figured out what’s actually happening. Americans aren’t as easily duped as the rest of the world.
So sad, but so so hilarious!
Had to know the Obama stimulus would get them in the nether regions.
Or, there’s the new pill Libagra. If your spending lasts more than 4 hours, seek medical help immediately.

If your spending lasts LESS than 4 hours, seek Cretin’s help.
There.Fixed that for ya,sounder.
Viva la Revolucion Gringo !!
Time for the FDR inspired snooze fest to be over and for ordinary Americans to take back their country.
Start by paving over Harvard and Yale on the East coast and leveling all the UC campuses.
The start signal will hopefully be the bankruptcy of the New York Times.
Having just caught Rush Limbaugh’s dynamite address on Fox News, I see that not all Americans are lemmings following the BigOwe over the cliff.
This vid is spot-on. Perfect.
If your stimulus persists for more than 24 hours, see your doctor.
The anti-Obama pill. Too funny!
They almost had me until the explosive diarrhea part.
I’m getting to the point that it is easier to take my soma pill than to worry and fight back. I’m less than 10 years away from “official” retirement and I feel I’m getting screwed more than when I was a teenager, and I’m frikkin Canadian. I’d hate to be a Yank right now but then again, what happens to our neighbour to the south echos up here so watch out boys and girls.
“Side effects may include…a marked interest in writing to Chomsky, and of course explosive diarrhea.”
I am assuming that this is verbal diarrhea, LOL!
Otherwise this may interfere with one’s more romantic inclinations with one’s spouse.
Sounder & Justthinkin you’re killing me, LOL!
Cheers

Great now the Muslims will be raging again.
Kate; One of the messages from you and the commenters on this blog is the puncturing of politically correct attitudes. However I am wrestling with the use of messages, even advertising, of people living with mental illness to convey a political message. The stigma for people who, which research is increasingly showing a physical disease easily compared to Parkinson’ Disease or Muscular Dystrophy, is still as big a dificulty as the illness. When you are reviewing a situation which may bring mental illness into view I request your consideration to consider if the situation would be similar for the use of Cancer to make a point, would you use the comment. Thank you for taking time to read this point. Cheers
“…and of course explosive diarrhea”
LOL! O-bot catharsis after a life of hopey-changey constipation!
MikeSR
choose were you read
don’t let the “read” do your choosing for you
and to your cancer analogy, it wouldn’t bother me, capice??
“I am wrestling with the use of messages, even advertising, of people living with mental illness”
Therefore, stay away from liberals Mike.
MikeSr: “Kate; One of the messages from you and the commenters on this blog is the puncturing of politically correct attitudes. However I am wrestling with the use of messages, even advertising, of people living with mental illness to convey a political message ….”
Good grief.
“Americans aren’t as easily duped as the rest of the world.”
Right…
Usually when someone tells you they’re “wrestling with” this or that, they’ve already made up their minds without much wrestling at all and now want you to agree with them.
I for one know that when I say “retarded” — and I say it often — I only mean it like “gay”…
Look MikeSr, we don’t coddle the liberal, NDP or the Green parties here. Nice try though.
Interesting MikeSR,
We have a situation where both the social engineers of of the day (and today) talked the governments of the day into “community health services”. This basically meant moving the mentally ill onto the streets. It’s not working real well in the lower mainland.
At what point do do social engineers admit they f*cked up? Does giving them (the mentally ill) a house, drugs, money, etc solve the problem? I do understand it provides jobs to the social engineer industry.
Can you actually name one program that the social engineers have going that actually work? … not really looking for a funding group trying to justify it’s funding (and more money).
I am saddened by the lack of understandingand thought there would be at least one positive response to show a reduction of stigma. I have been a small c conservative longer than many of the responders have been alive and been a financial supporter of PMSM since he appeared in federal politics. It appears his recognition of the the harm to both individuals and society in general by establishing a mental health policy for the last industrialized country continues to not be effective. I do however still applaud this present Federal Government’s efforts through establishing a $130 million fund to develop the Mental Health Commission of Canada to overcome the broad ignorance of Canadian society about mental illness. Check the website if a friend; a workmate; a family member or yourself are among the 20% of Canadians who are likely to experience a serious mental illness in their lifetime. Cheers;

Talking with a friend who is a pharmacist, he tells me that his Ativan and Xanax prescription count has gone through the stratosphere in the past few months. Ativan and Xanax are chemical cousins to Rohypnol (flunitrazepam). Antidepressant sales are way up too. So the video is correct; that’s exactly what’s going on. People are turning to psychotropic drugs in numbers never before seen, to cope.
Most people on mood altering drugs do not have any form of mental illness.
I don’t see this as having any correlation.
And, my sister is mental, I do have a clue People don’t treat her badly because of it. Rather, she is well liked and taken care of by everyone, back in our small town home of Glenwood, Arkansas.
Americans will certainly need something after they read this link..

Hilarious. “Dollar amounts made up by kindergartners”? Not so! Pelosi and Reid. No self-respecting kindergarten would claim those two.

Hans, you’re backsliding, again. Kate’s warned you before.
