Economically speaking, this is total lunacy. But he believes. Nor does he need Congress to act, since the EPA is already dealing with petitions to regulate CO2 as a pollutant. He simply does what he said he would do before the election, which is to regulate CO2 as a HAP. Even farms would have to go through permitting, as would large stores, etc.
Last week an EPA appeals board dumped another coal plant, and said the EPA should develop national rules for CO2 emissions. That ruling is widely believed to have placed about one hundred coal plants in jeopardy, at a time when the US is rapidly running out of electricity. Plants in Utah, New Mexico, Kansas and Georgia have all recently been stopped by legal action.
That leaves the US with no new drilling, no new nuclear plants, no new hydro plants and no new coal plants. In short, it leaves us with no real substantial new energy sources except perhaps plants that burn natural gas.
I operate new wells gushing fresh crude to Chicago. If this lunacy continues, all Canadians will be getting a little taste when oil prices are artificially raised by Obama…

This is known as a process plant, with which I have a few decades’ worth of experience as an engineering designer. From greenlight (which undoubtedly would have legal challenge delays from NIMBYs and BANANAs) to first production takes about two-three years, if all goes well.
It’s a huge effort.

In a Pre-dawn moment of clarity, it ocurred to me that the Carbon Trading Scam has been pre-empted by the Sub Prime Scam. Although I realized this earlier, I now can see the brilliance of these guys beating Al Gore and friends to the Pot of Gold, and it’s gone, gone, gone.

The owners of the coal plants should do what the productive people in Atlas Shrugged did, and just shut down their plants and go away on vacation for the winter. That might give people a good preview of what is coming.

I’m not so sure he has the power to do that. Then again, if he had the same kind of smarts as Peter Lougheed, he might manage some sort of response. That’s a pretty big if.
During the 1930s FDR and Hoover built a great electrical generation capacity.The TVA and other sure generating systems.When war broke out the USA had the generating capacity to build HALF the war planes manufactured in the world out of aluminum which depends on electricity for its smelting.They also had the electricity to build the atomic bomb.Without these two weapons the Allies would have LOST the war.We would now have countries that would look radicaly different than they do now.China is watching us with interest as they have a few million people that they would like to settle elsewhere.
They haven’t got enough oil, they won’t have enough electricity and Obama wants to scrap NAFTA. Is he delirious?
BUT, if it is scrapped then we can charge what we want for oil and electricity unlike under NAFTA where we can’t charge them any more than we pay ourselves.
I’m not one to take advantage of the yanks when they are down but I also don’t want to be snookered by them as they have done to us in the past i.e. softwood lumber, so we need to make sure our negotiators operate from a position of strength which we have now. (i.e. we got it-you don’t.)
