A Brilliant Choice

I have to say when Sarah Palin was first picked as VP candidate I was pleasantly surprised, but didn’t think it would have much impact. I appreciated her frontier conservatism but historically VPs have been almost entirely irrelevant to election campaigns.
But who could have guessed that we’d witness such a media meltdown? The more they churn out unhinged rants like this:

Like many people, I thought, “Damn, a hyperconservative, f***able, Type A, antiabortion, Christian Stepford wife in a ‘sexy librarian’ costume — as a vice president? That’s a brilliant stroke of horrifyingly cynical pandering to the Christian right. Karl Rove must be behind it.”

the more enjoyable it is to see it generating results like this:

Sarah – Just Plain Popular
A solid majority of voters (54 percent) say they have a favorable opinion of Palin, while 27 percent assign unfavorable ratings. This gives the 44-year-old GOP vice presidential nominee the best ratio of favorable to unfavorable responses (2.0:1) of any of the four candidates tested in the survey.

  1. This also emphasizes the point of the post.
South Carolina Democratic chairwoman Carol Fowler sharply attacked Sarah Palin today, saying John McCain had chosen a running mate “whose primary qualification seems to be that she hasn’t had an abortion.”
    (and later)
UPDATE — Carol Fowler releases a statement of apology: “I personally admire and respect the difficult choices that women make everyday, and I apologize to anyone who finds my comment offensive. I clumsily was making a point about people in South Carolina who may vote based on a single issue. Whether it’s the environment, the economy, the war or a woman’s right to choose, there are people who will cast their vote based on a single issue. That was the only point I was attempting to make.”
    Yeah right!

  2. “a hyperconservative, f***able, Type A, antiabortion, Christian Stepford wife in a ‘sexy librarian’ costume”
    Yummy!

  3. Maybe members of the media should go to parties and social gatherings that have other than other media in attendance. The conversational gene pool seems a little shallow and dare I say one sided.

  4. The Dems can’t hide the fact that the GOP is light years ahead of them. The only way a woman is going to get into the Oval office during a Democratic administration is by marrying the ‘Man’ or getting on her knees.

  5. “a hyperconservative, f***able, Type A, antiabortion, Christian Stepford wife in a ‘sexy librarian’ costume”
….and the best the Dems could put forward was a frumpy, pant suit clad battle axe named Shrillary and in the end they threw her under the bus for their pied piper messiah.

  6. This is wicked fun. Palin is driving the hairy lipped old feminist over the edge. Wait until the real feminist, like Palin, start stepping up to the plate, they will steam roll those hairy lipped old bitches who turned their sons into eunuchs, and have their daughters spending their days on the shrink couch. I love it!

Yes, you can be a Palinotologist too!

  8. It is good to see that the whacko leftards who make so much noise on the ‘net max out around 27%

  9. Jaeger I think you are right (and so is Kate), Palin has changed the game, and the more I see and read the more I am convinced of that.
In my view the election is over at this point. Yes, that’s jumping the gun, but there’s something very unique about Palin that has brought out the very worst in the Democrats. I am not sure they can get over their hatred of her between now and the election, and usually when people are motivated by hate they tend to make bad decisions.

  10. Cintra Wilson is a cinch to be on The View now.
My G*d, how the leftoids melt down when their version of life doesn’t turn out. From the amount of venom spewing out you’d have thought that Gov Palin had personally given birth on Wilson’s Gucci shoes and spilled her Starbuck’s latte at the same time.

  11. The Palin insults and attacks will never stop.
The Dumbocrats were knocked on their asses when Palin was named by McCain. They got up and were knocked down for the ten count when she gave her speech.
But the more they go after her, the more they’re going to piss off a great many people. When a wacko like Michael Moore starts worrying about the insults, you know they have a problem.

  12. LOL – loved it – she’s ten times more articulate than Heather Mallick. Keep it comming lefties.
But that being said, at first I was gob smacked that she had clued into The Plan that we White Patriarchs had cobbled together.
Particularly the phase when we ‘go the whole Hugh Hefner route and have eight V.P.s that all look exactly like Sarah Palin.’
Then I breathed a sigh of relief as I realized no one was going to believe her….
    ‘She’s like a grown-up version of Mary Ann from “Gilligan’s Island.” ‘
I still like Palin – even though I’m more of a Ginger man myself…

  13. And she’s wholesome, according to Webster…
a: sound in body, mind, or morals b: having the simple health or vigor of normal domesticity.
Not traits the “hairy lipped old bitches” (thanks honeypot!!) of yesteryear encourage.

  14. Palin is resonating with voters because people see realism in her.
    – She has a family that is successful and yet not without its share of hardship.
    – She has had to work to get where she is.
    – She works and yet manages to keep a house and home functioning.
    – She has a loving husband who works hard for his family and for her.
    – They involve themselves in the community and love nature.
    – They hunt, fish, and ride ATVs.
    – Despite her pageant looks, she’s still down to earth.
    – She has a beautiful quiver of children, one of whom is now pregnant out of wedlock and one of whom is mentally challenged (or whatever the PC word is these days).
America understands and admires the virtue, integrity, commitment and hard work they see in Palin. In Palin they see themselves. In Hillary they see only elitists.

  15. My Senate colleague Barack Obama is now attacking Gov. Sarah Palin over earmarks. Having worked with both John McCain and Mr. Obama on earmarks, and as a recovering earmarker myself, I can tell you that Mrs. Palin’s leadership and record of reform stands well above that of Mr. ObamaMr. Obama has shown little restraint on earmarks until this year, when he decided to co-sponsor an earmark moratorium authored by Mr. McCain and myself. Mr. Obama is vulnerable on this issue, and he knows it. That is why he is lashing out at Mrs. Palin and trying to hide his own record.
Mrs. Palin is one of the strongest antiearmark governors in America. If more governors around the country would do what she has done, we would be much closer to fixing our nation’s fiscal problems than we are.
Mrs. Palin’s record here is solid and inspiring. She will help Mr. McCain shut down the congressional favor factory, and she has a record to prove it. Actions mean something. You can’t just make stuff up

  16. Long time before Nov 4, but I’m willing to bet a huge number of voters will be torn at the polls over not necessarily wanting to vote for the Republicans, but not wanting to let Sarah get away.
I suspect there’ll be enough noses held to get McCain in, just so that Sarah makes it. I suspect there’ll be a lot voters will will believe that putting her in the VP spot will be the best possible training ground for her for the next run at the big chair.

  17. As I have said on numerous past posts…McCain will win with a landslide and everything will be right in the world….Sarah Palin’s selection was indeed a stroke of genius…..what a wonderful woman she is……she is a REAL woman.

  18. This is the juice folks. Keep all these comments for the debates to throw back in the faces of the
    DNC.

  19. South Carolina Democratic chair Carol Fowler says Sarah Palin only qualification is that she has not had an abortion…… So Carol Fowler your only qualification is that you have had an abortion??
    cheers Bubba

  20. Interesting, I caught the news this afternoon on CBC radio. The lead story was the buzz surrounding a Republican rally in or near Washington. Apparently this was unexpected and entirely due to the presence of Palin. Congratulations Democrats, Mallick et al.

  21. OK, now all of you who jumped on Heather Mallick for her portrayal of Sarah Palin a few days ago are to go to CBC.ca right now and apologize to her. You know who you are.
After reading Ms. Wilson’s diatribe, Mallick’s meanderings are a mere tsk, tsk.
I’m kidding, of course. Mallick deserves no apologies and neither does Wilson.
I looked a bit into Cintra Wilson. It seems to me that she makes her living by being a nasty sh**-disturber.
Her current rant’s theme highlights what several previous posters have said. The Dems see a distinct possibility that their man may not win. So everything and anything must be done to destroy Sarah Palin. The intensity of the shrieking suggests the level of their fear.
If you read Wilson’s “article”, did you notice that at the end there are links to at least three other similar rants?
