  8. Jack, I agree Keith is quite rabid most times, but do you deny that the entire war is based on lies, propaganda, and fear? That the constant resort of the government to justify anything they want, such as the patriot act (my god what a name) is to claim that if republican’s aren’t running things, the terrorists will kill us all?
    I think the U.S. should stay in Iraq and finish what they started, but the manner in which it was carried out, and the naivety of Bush’s administration when they got there, as well as the justification, and reasoning behind the war are absolutely ridiculous? Saddam’s a threat because he’s got weapons of mass destruction….that…we sold them, to kill the Iranian’s and Kurds in the 80’s, along with every other western nation out there. That’s some moral high ground you’ve got there.

  11. I’m not sure why everyone is focused on if a democrat were in, there would be another attack. I don’t see that in the video anywhere from Bush. I’m not a huge fan of everything Bush has done but he truthfully answered the question of what the doomsday scenario would be if they pulled out of Iraq. I thought the answer was pretty obvious.
    I thought that the US screwed up when they didn’t remove Sadam the first time, but that is how it happened. I would challenge this man to go and live in Sadam’s Iraq spouting his opinions about the government. Fact is, he would be imprisoned and killed.
    He has some points, but they are completely lost in the fact that he portrays himself as an out of control lunatic ranting away. How can you take someone like that seriously?

    -I’ve spent a bit of time trying to google for that, and can’t find that information anywhere, so I’m very inclined to believe that you’re simply making that up.
    Further to that, even if they did declare war…wooo, scary. Nobody was trading with them anyway except the ridiculous oil for food program, and Iraq isn’t exactly an ocean going nation now are they?

    -When? Where? Why were American soldiers in another sovereign nation?

    -When did this happen? Didn’t the U.S. set up Saddam and the Baath party in the first place? And hasn’t there been numerous attempts on Saddam’s life? Why is it ok for the U.S. to do that to Iraq but not vice-versa?

    -When were these suicide attacks carried out? I don’t recall any news stories about Iraqi suicide bombers blowing up American’s at home or abroad, not have I seen any evidence of bounties directly funded by the government of Iraq.

    -This I agree on, but because they are UN peace accords, that’s for the U.N. to decide a course of action, not the U.S.

    -Have you so quickly forgotten than France actually built them a nuclear power plant, gave them the technology, and the fuel? The Israeli’s bombed that plant to hell and back the second it was completed. Far easier than invading an entire nation.

    -That was known as far back as the 80’s, and the wester world actively supported and encouraged Iraq because it was fighting Iran. Why did that suddenly change? On the other hand, McCain keeps sidling up to the left, although its unlikely he’ll relent on the war, he sure is working his hardest to alienate conservatives.     – Al Qaida had contact with the Iraq government, but there is no evidence of cooperation. Saddam supported terrorist organization which later allied with Al Qaida, so it’s a fuzzy trail.

    Who built what and how doesn’t change the fact that Saddam had a nuke program in violation of the UN. French involvement predates UN resolutions.
    WMD
    – the spook community was wrong. Saddam had WMD in the past, used them against Kurds and Iran, but either shipped them out, or destroyed them. At this point, nobody knows. The point is, that he very deliberately played a game of cat and mouse to mislead the UN. Most spooks thought he had them, and there was no clear reason to believe otherwise.
    911 Terrorists in Sudan
    – ??? no proof
    If you really want the goods on pre-war Iraq, and more, read the Duelfer Report. It’s the most detailed analysis produced, and the most factual. Funny though, leftists never quote it … I wonder why? Maybe, it’s because rants like the one posted would seem that much more insane. They are based on myths, not facts.

    There are enough UN resolutions on Iraq to fill your dance card. Everyone knows that Saddam was not to be confused with Mr. Nice Guy and many Democrats are on record over the period in the run up to the Iraq dust up confirming same.
    For the Dems to come back and play Monday morning quarter back is quite disingenuous.
    The fact that Rumsfeld and co. overplayed their hand thinking they would be welcomed as liberators was undeniably an error.
    Bush and co. took corrective action with the surge policy and it appears to be working in the near term. This would be militarily somewhat analogous, though the numbers are significantly less, to Dieppe being discounted and resulting in the Normandy landings.
    For Mr. Olbermann to take such a ridiculous tack is to ask whether he would like to speak German instead? Hey, he’s got a german sounding name! Or perhaps an airliner crashed into his offices at MSNBC would improve his Arabic language skills?
    Let us put it this way, if Bush had done precisely nothing after 9/11 and decided to strike up a conversation with any assortment of tin pot dictators what kind of media response would there have been?
    Had FDR decided to strike up a conversation with Imperial Japan after Pearl Harbour I’m sure his poll numbers would have improved immensely. Ha! Ha!
