Sad to say, I don’t believe this will proceed as far as court. As a civil action, it may be dropped at anytime. As soon as RW realizes that he’s on his own dime, and that Ezra won’t cave into his extortion attempt, he’ll drop this suit like a hot potato. Ezra may be excited about the opportunity, but I don’t think it will truly arise.

Lets not get too far ahead of ourselves here. At this point it only a “threat” of a lawsuit. From what I read Ezra has yet to be served any papers. I predict that the suit will never happen. Warman and his shtick would be exposed in a court of law and I believe there is no way he will allow this to get that far. I admit I’m puzzled about the threat to sue. Its focused, heavily, on allegations that Warman wrote the email against Anne Cools. He’s already admitted, with a slithering attempt at evasion, that he’s posted on other issues using the name ‘Lucy’. I don’t know if it can definitely be proven that both posters are the same, though the evidence for such is very strong.
So, what’s his agenda? Does he really want it to go to court?

ET, we can’t know if Warman is mereley the beard for the CJC. I do not see them wanting this to go to trial. I think that the supporters of Section 13 (1) have realized they have lost in the Court of Public Opinion and this is a last ditch attempt to reverse that trend. With all the public has learned regarding Warman’s activities the CJC must be feeling a mite embarrassed that they actually gave him an award. This is at best a face saving excercise.
Noble to rush to Ezra’s camp with financial aid but like others have rightly pointed out … There is NO reason to assume that Warman will actually go the distance when he stands to lose so much himself.
Even if he is not paying his own costs … whoever is will not do likely so again after this and the kind of exposure he’ll get will only help to destroy his credibility.

This is not a result of just hurt feelings but the CJC will have lost a cash cow for testimony in numerous cases and the CHRC has to protect itself against a public inquiry into who did what, when and where and for how much (check their financial disclosure records and see if the names of Mock and the other even show up) as for sure – these monkeys (even the free lancers) were working under someones direction.
But why all this spy stuff…why are the RCMP not investigating the potential of a myriad of offences these agent provoteurs alledgedly/may have commited? It is the public right to know how posted what, when and where.

IF it were a case of Richard Warman’s ‘hurt feelings’ about being ‘outed’ as posting under the name of Lucy to the Freedomsite blog, AND being linked to posting a racist comment against Senator Anne Cools, THEN, the logical response would have been to file a lawsuit against, not simply Ezra Levant – who posted about this relation, but all blog sites that did so. That’s quite a few sites, actually.
Yet, he didn’t. That’s what so strange. His threat is only against Ezra. Now, what is Ezra doing that also affects Richard Warman? He’s attacking Section 13.1 of the HRAct.
I think that’s where the Real Agenda lies. It has to do with a War Room behind-the-scenes tactic of defending that Section. Who wants this section?
Richard Warman. The CJC (Canadian Jewish Congress). And Warren Kinsella. The two, Warman and Kinsella, work for the CJC. I’m suggesting this ‘Set’ – including the Human Rights bureaucracy – have set up an attack against Ezra that has as its agenda, a smear campaign against Ezra, that will spill over to the calls for the removal of Section 13.1.
I think it’s a back door attempt to denigrate the character of those people who are in the public eye as attacking the HRAct.
It’s not a very clever or strong strategy, for there are lots more people than Ezra, including PEN and others, who are against the section. But I simply cannot think of any other reason.
Again, IF it had to do with Warman’s hurt feelings, then, he’d have to send threatening letters to each and every blog site. He hasn’t. Only to Ezra. ??
It is a real shame that the CJC is involved in this – they really do some good work on other fronts, but this is just pathetic. Their view of where Anti-Semitism comes from is only about 50 years out of date. Don’t get me wrong – Canada has a pretty ugly history history, “One Jew is one Jew too many” and all that, but living in the past is no excuse. Let’s face it, Jews are part of the establishment, and benefit at least as much if not more than other Canadians from the free exercice of fundemental rights. Ezra was on CKNW this afternoon with John McComb. It was great, and you can still get it as they have an archive. What is especially funny is Warren Kinsella crowing on his blog about being on CKNW earlier with Christy Clark. Clark being a very active federal Liberal apparently fellated Kinsella about his website. It’s pretty bad when Kinsella can only get fellow Liberal insiders to listen to him and Ezra gets on a show with a rather supportive “lefty” host!

I’ve been paying close attention to this whole business with regards to Warman and the question of whether or not he wrote the Cools posting. I have been developing network software for about 6 years now and for what it’s worth: I (and, I think, most network-savy programmers) would be willing to bet several pay-checks that Warman wrote the post.
I think there is little reason to doubt that he was indeed the author. Yes, there might be enough room for “reasonable doubt”…but, as I understand it, the threshold of “beyond a reasonable doubt” is reserved for criminal law. Civil law is all about a “balance of probabilities.”
I’ve seen the discussion about the odds (which I would argue are actually probably less than what some have said). But, for the most part, my suspicions are rooted in personal experience.
I was a Rogers cable-internet customer from May of 2002 to June of 2004. In all that time, my IP address changed exactly once – right after an upgrade at Rogers. How do I know this? Myself and a colleague of mine were working on custom network software at the time and we connected to each other’s computers using our “virtually static” Rogers IP addresses. Rogers may claim that they do a cycle every so often. But, among the providers I have used (Rogers, Shaw, and Videotron), I find that they only ever change your IP if there is a good reason to do so.
