Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

"Smalldeadanimals doesn't speak for the people of Saskatchewan" - Former Sask Premier Lorne Calvert
"I got so much traffic after your post my web host asked me to buy a larger traffic allowance." - Dr.Ross McKitrick
Holy hell, woman. When you send someone traffic, you send someone TRAFFIC.My hosting provider thought I was being DDoSed. - Sean McCormick
"The New York Times link to me yesterday [...] generated one-fifth of the traffic I normally get from a link from Small Dead Animals." - Kathy Shaidle
"You may be a nasty right winger, but you're not nasty all the time!" - Warren Kinsella
"Go back to collecting your welfare livelihood." - Michael E. Zilkowsky
Leftists have never required substance. Obama is willing to provide hopeful leftist change for it’s own sake, thus the reality of it’s implementation is irrelevant.
Thank God most of you like the US.
But for the legion of Canadians who think we are stupid, now is the time to revel in it.
Obama actually does do something very well. He’s terrific at reading speeeches. (Memorization isn’t bad.) Possibly better than a lot of community activists.
John Edwards and he have the same speechwriter. Edwards was working the “audacity of hope.” Obama has shortened it to “hope.”.
Outside of that they buy their speeches from a speechwriter whose name slips my mind. Kind of like somebody who has a copy of the midterm and sells the answers.
That’s pretty much the end of Obama’s outstanding characteristics. You know, after I read Small Dead Animals sometimes I push back from the computer and I think to myself, “Holy crap. If we’re the representative of the best in the world, I don’t even want to think about what everybody else is like.”
OK, here’s a little analysis for you.
A third of the country is conservative, a third is in the middle, and a third is far-leftist. The campaigns are always about that middle third, because they determine who is going to win. As it happens, in this election, much to my dismay, the middle is controlling the results of the outcome.
For what it’s worth, you have to remember that what you’ve seen so far is all about the primary process.
When the general election campaigns start, Obama will be criticized by Republicans, not other Democrats. The waters are going to become extremely rough for Mr. Obama when the right turns its punitive questions and criticisms on the vacuous socialism of Mr. Obama.
You have begun to see a little of this already in places like the video above. Whoever gets the nomination will be hit with broadsides.
A good possibility is that a lot of letting Obama walk has been a Republican calculation to try to finesse the candidate we would prefer to run against.
Finally, conservatives don’t care for McCain. But McCain would just be another president a lot like Bush, but softer on some specifically domestic issues. Sometimes I get philosophical and say, what the hell. They might as well give the country to the Latinos, the clones, the people who have sex with and marry robots, and people who manufacture their organs out of the biological material of rat bodies. (I’ve seen posts on Drudge about all of this within the last month.)
Anyway, it’s too bad that Canadian leftists probably like Obama, because otherwise this would be their time to howl. The stongest nation in the world is run by a bunch of fruitflies. Don’t throw in the towel just yet, however. Wait until you get a look at the challenge Republicans will bring to the table.
While I agree that Obama has accomplished absolutely zero I would reverse the question “name me one thing that the junior senator from New York has accomplished as a Senator of the USofA? Anyone – anyone – anyone??
This was so funny; of course, you could ask what Hillary has done in her four years in the Senate, and probably get the same answer. Meanwhile..
John McCain fought for his country, was shot down and tortured (OK, Hillary was married to Bill, which I’m sure many would equate to torture, but that’s as may be..) and he, crossing party lines to work with a Democrat, helped forge the most comprehensive finance campaign law in US history. This shows he will work with anyone to promote the best interests of the US.
I just think he is the only candidate who is willing to work across party lines to do what’s best for the country. Hillary and Obama just seem to be panderers. YOMV.
The point is simply this – Shillary goes around saying that she is “job-ready – day one”. Really?? What made her this way? Was it the 7-11 she ran….wait a minute – she didn’t run a 7-11 did she? OK what did she run? Nothing, you say? So what is it that makes her “job-ready”? What a crock of crap! CNBC is a joke and so are the two buffoons on the tape.
I realise now how that simple question can make fools of us all. To be honest, I can’t name one legislative accomplishes for Hillary outside of the US. Maybe they’re across the world somewhere. Did she ever have any accomplishes in the Canadian legislature?
Oh, and speaking of ‘women who hate their middle name’ in the congress member’s case, I think I would’ve opted not to keep my maiden name. But hey, I’m a guy and I suppose that’s a human rights issue that I simply don’t understand. Of course taking her murdering hubby’s name had to be difficult too. Man, that’s a tough one.
Were I in OH, I believe I’d rather have my pushpin pig represent me.
Is this supposed to show that Obama doesn’t have legislative accomplishments?
Obama got a bill passed at the state level requiring that police interrogations and confessions be videotaped; Obama got a bill passed at the state level that implemented the first earned-income tax credit to help the working poor; he has also gotten bills passed regarding ethics reform at the state and federal level. There are other accomplishments from his career, but the media tend not to focus on his record, nor any other candidates’ records.
I wonder what the representative for Clinton would have said had she been asked the same question. So far, her most important act in the Senate was her support of the Iraq War. And what if a rep for McCain was on the show? His most important legislative positions have been on liberal issues like immigration and torture.
I personally had a lot of problems with Obama until the nature of hope and change was explained to me (on a previous thread here) by the Cardstonkid (I edited this very slightly):
“Of course he has accomplishments. He has been the biggest supporter of hope and change. What hope? Why the hope that causes change!!! And what change does he speak of? The change that gives hope of course!!!
You can’t name just one thing he has done since his mere presence in the Senate alone has given the Senate new hope and change that has caused revolutionary changing hope! He has caused a complete 360 degree change in the Senate. Without him the sun might not rise and seeds might not grow. By not supporting Obama you are a racist with no hope, or change.”
And so I might add that it doesn’t really matter if Obama uses other peoples terms and phrases because it is orthogonal to his central argument concerning the very philosophical nature of changing hope and it’s application to the American people.
