Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Symposium: Crushing Al-Qaeda
Iraq’s interior ministry spokesman recently revealed that 75% of Al-Qaeda in Iraq’s network has been destroyed. TONY BLAIR RETAINED AS ADVISOR TO JP MORGAN BANK

“”Former British prime minister Tony Blair is to join Wall Street bank JP Morgan as a part-time advisor, the Financial Times reported Thursday.(…)”Nowadays, the intersection between politics and the economy in different parts of the world, including the emerging markets, is very strong.”
Blair declined to say how much he would be paid for his work with the bank but added that he planned to launch an interfaith foundation later this year and would also work on climate change issues.
JP Morgan’s chief executive Jamie Dimon said that Blair would be “enormously valuable” to the firm.””
Ahhh yes now the patronage perks roll in after his term in office….and again we see the perfect synthesis between globalist socialism and crony capitalism….looks like the UK will be floating some loans to build the perfect electronic public surveillance grid….it’s good to have friends in high places that can make it happen even if the public trough is bare.
For a dandy read on the Libs faux outrage over Chalk River, have a look at Greg Weston’s column ‘Isotope Dopes’ in todays Sun.He slams Dion for his allegation the AG’s report was hidden, when in fact it had been out since Sept.wonder if The Braaaaaawdcast will highlight the Lib cover-up of the problems dating back many years, and Dhaliwal’s ignoring this when AG wanted to meet with him to discuss.True to Lib form tho, they ignore their own neglect, and blame everything on PMSH.

Prime minister announces $1-billion in aid for struggling Canadian industries
Prime Minister Stephen Harper has dished out a $1-billion appetizer in advance of his Friday dinner meeting with the premiers.
The federal government’s new “national community development trust fund” is aimed at helping vulnerable communities and laid-off workers in traditional industries, such as forestry, fishing and manufacturing, Harper said Thursday.

Caroline Glick, Column One: George in Jihadland
US President George W. Bush arrived in Israel at the start of an eight-day tour of the Middle East at an interesting moment. In the lead-up to his trip, enemy forces, of both the terrorist and state variety, clarified their strategic outlook and the scope of their ambitions. Unfortunately, the president seems not to have noticed.
For the past several weeks, the leaders of the global jihad and their state sponsors in Syria and Iran have escalated their rhetorical and military attacks against Israel and the US. Osama bin Laden, his deputy Ayman al-Zawahiri and his American lackey Adam Gadahn all issued video and audio appeals on the eve of Bush’s trip. Their messages were devoted mainly to the campaigns against US forces in Iraq and against Israel. Bin Laden labeled Iraqi opponents of al-Qaida in Iraq apostates and called for Iraqis to rally around his allied forces. Gadahn called for Bush’s assassination. All three men called for Israel’s annihilation and for the unification of the forces of global jihad…

When will Dion CHOOSE a riding for Orchard to run in? He better come up with something big for him, Orchard has enough of a following to make a loser in that riding.
It’s an old ploy, suck up to the Natives. Problem is the Natives appreciate the Democratic process more than being pandered to. They don’t appreciate condescending, we know best politicos making choices for them.
Liberals never learn, sucking up, patronizing doesn’t work. The people of Quebec sent them that message as well.

This Chalk River nuclear thingy is mind boggling.
The A-G says the place needs about a billion dollars of upgrades.
The slack-assed Liberals were in power for over 10 yrs and did absolutely zero about it.
PM Harper is in power less than 2 yrs and they try to blame him for the problems?
Again the Liberal Party has made another very strong case for splitting Canada up on the Belgium model of governance.
Each language group governs, finances and runs itself, because quite obviously we have very different priorities for our governments.
That way, when crooked Quebec Prime Ministers want to waste their time stealing tax dollars in a hoax like Adscam, rather than fixing a medicinally necessary nuclear plant, they are only screwing their own people.
And not dragging English Canada down the sewer with them.
Best of all, Pablo can then kiss SRC’s ass till the cows come home.
Who gives a crap what the Liberals did or didn’t do. They got voted out of office. You can’t keep using them as an excuse for Conservative incompetence.
The Conservatives had specific knowledge about the worsening of the problems in September 2006 and DID NOTHING. Worse, they are trying to blame everyone including vicious attacks on AECL for taking safety precautions. The Cons are in charge and have been for TWO YEARS now. When are they going to start taking responsibility?
Mark Steyn comments on the death of SIr Edmond Hillary:
“…And of course, he famously encountered Hillary Rodham Clinton a few years ago, and she told him that her parents had named her Hillary, H-I-double L-A-R-Y after him, which of course caused great amusement to those of us who looked into it and discovered that Hillary had been born, I think it was six years before he conquered Everest, when he wasn’t the conqueror of Everest, but he was an obscure New Zealand beekeeper, and an unlikely source of inspiration for the parents of a newborn in the Chicago suburbs. But far be it for me to question Hillary Rodham Clinton…”

“Although there is no record of accurate prediction for the totally unproven and skepticism-worthy models of the warmist climatologists, liberals are convinced that there is a “scientific consensus” over an impending Anthropogenic Global Warming Crisis that requires undertaking immediate extreme measures including increased carbon taxes as well as new “private sector” solutions such as carbon-trading and selling of carbon-credits.
…Today, a consensus of actuaries agrees that the Social Security system is in need of major overhaul otherwise it will experience debilitating financial shortfalls in a few decades as more and more “baby-boomers” retire with full benefits. In the face of this consensus however, liberals demur and minimize the importance of this crisis, undercutting President Bush’s attempts to draw attention the problem as his prelude to proposing reforms. Unpopular measures such as cutting benefits, needs-based benefits, raising retirement ages or increasing payroll taxes are not to even discussed according to liberals.”

Blog Takes Failed Marriage Into Fight Over Free Speech
By ABBY GOODNOUGH
BOSTON — Normally, Garrido v. Krasnansky, a divorce case playing out in Vermont family court, would be of little interest to anyone but the couple involved. But the court has ordered the husband to stop posting blog items about his wife and their crumbled marriage, possibly turning an ordinary divorce into a much broader battle over free speech on the Internet.
The husband, William Krasnansky, posted what he calls a fictionalized account of the marriage on his blog late last year. His wife, Maria Garrido, complained to the judge overseeing their divorce, who ordered Mr. Krasnansky to take down “any and all Internet postings” about his wife and their marriage pending a hearing next month….
….“Her feelings are hurt,” Ms. Schoenberg said of Ms. Garrido. “But we can’t put the need for her feelings not to be hurt above Will’s constitutional right to express himself in any way he sees fit.”….
…“The fact that it’s fiction doesn’t excuse the speech if it can be recognized to be about a certain person,” Professor Chemerinsky said….

I live within an hour of Chalk River – my son in Toronto told me that morning talk radio shows said this issue is a “made-in-Canada” story – the other world producers of medical isotopes were advised well in advance of AECL’s temporary shutdown and totally prepared for it – no shortages occurred
True?????
Ted, you must be kidding. Let’s see – the Grits nothing on AGW for over 12 years, but Tories must fix it right away (to Dion’s satisfaction ie-world government/Kyoto). The Libs left a mess that Tories must fix now (OK within two years).
This bunch stole taxpayers money, yet not one political operative of the LPC has been held to account, and to date the funds haven’t been repaid.
Hey, Ted, why didn’t Harper fix that, he had two years, right?
Shamrock: we’re talking about Chalk River, not global warming, and the fact that the government of today is blaming – and blaming viciously and personally – everyone but themselves, claiming they didn’t know anything and it now being revealed that they in fact did know and then continued to do nothing.

Regarding Chalk River, Greg Weston`s column in todays Sun says it all…he is handing Citoyen Dion his ass…again!!
Mick Hume, The dark age of low-energy bulbs
Late in the pantomime season Ken Livingstone, the Miserabilist of London, is staging a new version of Aladdin. At B&Q stores this weekend Londoners can get “new bulbs for old” by swapping incandescent lightbulbs for free low-energy ones (only two each, the genie of the lightbulb being less slightly generous than the one in the lamp).
So far, so what. But what turned me off was the mayor calling this eco-stunt a “lightbulb amnesty”. An amnesty is “a period during which offenders are exempt from punishment”, as when police turn a blind eye to those handing in illegal weapons. A lightbulb amnesty implies that the merciful authorities will let us carbon offenders dump our tungsten timebombs and avoid the electric chair…

“Gun registry posting doesn’t violate privacy”
Glen McGregor, The Ottawa Citizen
Published: Thursday, January 10, 2008
The privacy commissioner has rejected complaints from firearms owners who claimed their privacy was violated by a searchable copy of the federal gun registry posted on the [Ottawa]Citizen website.
…”The RCMP had released information about registered firearms as well as the registration date, client type and the first two digits of the individual’s postal code,” her report says.
…some have complained that, in a small proportion of records in the database, the owners are listed as the manufacturers. Most of these appear to be cases in which the owners built their own guns. Ms. Stoddart did not address this point in her report.
I’ve heard from gun owners that it also lists complete inventories of gun stores, and that the cases where the owner is the manufacturer, one can use Canada411 and Google Earth to great effect.
On the other hand, one can use search terms like “unknown” “rusty” “old” etc. and see what 2 billion dollars gets you.

Get REAL Ted. I know it’s very hard for a Liberal to admit ANY wrong doing. Chalk River is just one of many examples of Liberal “do as I say not as I did” mentality. The sheer hypocrisy of this is obvious to all but pretenders like you.
Harper is discovering to his dismay the breadth of entrenched intransigence of Liberal appointed civil servants not only to arms length bodies but within the highest levels of the governing body its self.
Their ability to obstruct is beyond question and the civil servants know (they within )their institution will outlive any elected MP, current OR future.
The Chalk River situation is a glaring example.
Ted, spare us your one-off b******t. What WE were talking about was another example Liberal incompetence, and the hypocrisy of Dion’s finger pointing.
Typical Grit slithering. They want to one-off issues, hoping the voter won’t see the totalilty of Grit incompetence, corruption, and negligence.
Maybe if your party and leader had some actual issues to discuss, like actual policies they would enact if in power, then they wouldn’t have to resort to their faux scandal/outrage du jour approach.
The Grits were handed the keys to the kingdom (and the treasury), with their coronation of Martin, but got hoisted on their own petard, auto-sabotaged by their power orientation where every policy, statement or explanation was subverted to one critereon – enhancing the power of the LPC, and its hold over Canadians.
So spare us. Oh yeah, Ted, you don’t like Liberals either.

Oh yes, there’s the article by Mr. Elmasry on his website, dated 2006, in which he suggests that “Israel’s campaign of death, destruction and misery” is a product of the Old Testament, or Hebrew Bible. Muslims are rightly sensitive about people denigrating or generalizing about their holy books, but evidently Mr. Elmasry has no problem doing it to others.
So now Mr. Elmasry is angry that senior government ministers have declined to meet with members of his group. It’s his prerogative to be upset, but he certainly shouldn’t be surprised.

Greg Weston’s column today in the Toronto Sun is a “must read”. It demonstrates extreme Liberal hypocrisy re. the Chaulk River dispute.
If all the adscam money had been used at Chalk River there might not be a problem. I guess both Chretain and Martin had trouble making priorities.
The money spent on cancelling a helicopter contract could also have been put to better use. Now the liberals want a 10 million inquiry re Brian/KS. Give us our money back to pay for it.
Also, agree to pay for the Sask by-election you are causing.
Where will Beatty be if Dion reverses his appointment, she resigned her prov seat on Jan 3.
I don’t think anyone wants her back.
All the Liberal hypocrisy in the world – and there is a LOT of it – doesn’t change the fact that the Conservatives are in power right now, folks.
Do you honestly think for one second that the non-partisan voters are going care one whit about Liberal hypocrisy in 2002 when the Conservatives had the express warnings in a report in September 2007 and are trying to weasel out of taking any responsibility for not doing anything about the warnings???
Frederick Forsyth on Muslims in England (excerpts):
THE two self-styled spokesmen of the Muslim community who laid into the Bishop of Rochester did themselves and Islam in Britain no favours.
The Ramadhan Foundation and the Islamic Society of Great Britain claimed again that anyone criticising even the most extreme proponents of the poison that beyond any doubt exists inside the Muslim “umma” in our country is criticising all Muslims. This is simply not true and one suspects these “spokesmen” secretly know it.
“I say this with deep regret. There is a growing belief among the secularists, Christians, Buddhists, Hindus, Sikhs and Jews, who despite all the fuss still make up 95 per cent of the British people, that the leaders of “moderate Islam” in the UK have simply lost control of their own ultra-extreme faction.
One suspects that this is through sheer timidity and no doubt it takes a brave man to stand openly against them. But we non-Muslims are informed of bookshops rife with hate material but never purged by the Muslims themselves; of mosques where preachers speak only of hate against the rest of us but are never cleansed; of social clubs where the young are indoctrinated and brainwashed on a diet of loathing of the non-jihad world but are never closed down.
Increasing numbers outside Islam are asking: if the elders will do nothing, is this extremism perhaps after all the true face of Islam? If not, why is nothing done?
To claim to speak for British Islam but only to rage at a Christian bishop who preaches against the evil of hatred – and hatred is an evil in all beliefs – is not the answer.
The answer can only be for those Muslims who want to be truly British and live in peace with the rest of us – and they claim they are the huge majority – to put their house in order, painful though this might be.
As for the bearers of violence and hate, they must be greeted by their fellow Muslims with three words: denounce, dissociate and expel.”

Ted – I know that in your perspective, All That Is Conservative is Evil, but receiving a report in September of 2007 and not, yet, dealing with it by December of 2007 is hardly worth your froth and hatred.
However, receiving warnings in 2002, and I quote from Greg Weston’s scathing scorn of the Liberal ineptitude and indifference:
“On Nov. 15, 2002, Fraser sent a copy of her report to then Liberal resources minister Herb Dhaliwal, along with a covering letter imploring him to meet to discuss her alarming findings, particularly “unresolved issues with the government” and their potential impact on “the management of environmental risks at AECL sites.”
Two months later, Dhaliwal replied, in part: “As your report was quite clear and acceptable to me, I felt no need for us to meet at this time. I was particularly pleased that you saw evidence of strong leadership … and found that good systems and practices existed in several key areas.”
In other words, the Liberal Minister totally ignored the CONTENT of her report, and answered to his FICTIONAL opinions that ‘all was well’.
And Fraser sent him another report and asked to meet with him. Again, Liberal Dhaliwal replied, in blatant refusal to actually read and acknowledge what she had said in her report that ‘since all was well, there’s no need to meet’.
That was four years before the Liberals were turfed from office. They hid the report; they did nothing. That’s NOTHING for four years.
Now, barely three months since the Conservatives were informed about the situation, you are screaming that The Conservatives Are Evil because they haven’t done anything. Heh. Biased, ted?

“How to Behead’ poem posted online draws fire”
Jewish groups target website over piece by `lyrical terrorist’
john Goddard, the Star
Two Canadian Jewish groups are inviting a Muslim counterpart to stand with them against a shocking poem featured on the website IslamOnline.
The poem is called: “How to Behead.”
Graphically describing how to decapitate a captive, the verse is the work of Samina Malik, 23, the self-styled “lyrical terrorist” who two months ago became the first Muslim woman in Britain convicted on terrorism charges.
Her poems include “How to Behead” and “Beheading – How it Feels” – writings that helped draw her a nine-month suspended jail sentence.
“Obscene,” Canadian Jewish Congress leader Bernie Farber called the posting yesterday.
“This goes beyond what even (deported Toronto hate-monger Ernst) Zundel could have come up with,” said Jewish Defence League national director Meir Weinstein.
Both are calling on the Canadian Council on American-Islamic Relations, based in Ottawa, to cease its connection to the site and join them in denouncing the posting.
Council board member Jamal Badawi, a professor emeritus at St. Mary’s University in Halifax, contributes regularly to Qatar-based IslamOnline.net.
“Anybody who puts his name to a website that can be seen to be supporting this kind of writing should be ashamed of themselves,” Farber said in a telephone interview.
“Either Dr. Badawi is not aware of it, or now that he is aware, I would hope he will immediately condemn it and walk away,” Farber said.
“If not, one would have to make the – I think legitimate – assumption that he is in support of the kind of positions taken on that website.”
Badawi did not return calls or emails.
Council spokesperson Sameer Zuberi said the council considers the poem “repulsive” and noted it has asked the website’s administrators to remove the poem. IslamOnline features the poem on its arts and literature page, inviting comment but offering no view of its own.
The Canadian branch of the Washington D.C.-based Council on American-Islamic Relations says it aims to “help shape an accurate understanding of Islam.”
So where’s the HRC?
Ezra’s day in kangaroo court:
“Conservative who published Prophet cartoons faces rights commission”
Calgary Herald
Published: Thursday, January 10, 2008
CALGARY – Outspoken conservative commentator Ezra Levant will be before the Alberta Human Rights Commission Friday defending his former magazine’s 2006 publication of a series of Danish cartoons depicting the Prophet Muhammad.
Members of Calgary’s Muslim community were outraged when Levant’s now-defunct publication, the Western Standard, published the cartoons in February 2006, shortly after their initial appearance in a Danish newspaper led to rioting and protests around the world.
Syed Soharwardy, president of the Islamic Supreme Council of Canada, later filed a complaint against the Western Standard to the Alberta Human Rights Commission.
Levant, the magazine’s former publisher, will be on the hot seat today in Calgary during a commission investigation – a process he calls an “interrogation” – in which he’ll be questioned extensively about the publication of the cartoons.
The human rights commission could then order a full hearing into the matter if it deems it necessary, he said.
“I object to the whole proceeding. It doesn’t have any moral authority,” Levant said Thursday in an interview.
“Free speech is a human right.”
Soharwardy, who isn’t expected at the proceeding, couldn’t be reached for comment Thursday.

Avoid computer molasses crawl.
Clear off a YouTube tab/page after you look at it.
Leaving a YouTube page tab on your browser while you check other tabs can make heavy CPU demands and slow everything down.
This is made clear by using *CoolBeans*, a little horizontal bar graph you can place at the top of your screen.
When the red bar jams over hard right, you know some browser page is hogging your cpu and giving you computer crawl.
Use ctrl, alt, del to bring up Task Manager and likely Firefox or your browser is using 98% of your cpu capacity.
Often it is a tabbed page of YouTube that needs removal to bring the computer back to speed. = TG
Here’s the online voice of moderate Islam. A voice affliated with and supported by major Canadian Islamic organizations such as CAIR Canada, CIC and MSA:
“IslamOnline is the leading and orginal (sic) Islamic portal on the Internet. Based in Dubai IslamOnline’s objective is to protray (sic) a positive and accurate picture of Islam to the world as well as providing support services for Muslims as well as for non Muslims wishing to explore Islam. IslamOnline is the number one source for Islamic content in the Islamic world.”
Ok. Let’s see what that positive and accurate picture is:
Within Islam Online’s fatwa or religious ruling section, one will find various statements advocating, and at times even mandating, the most hideous of violent acts.
About suicide bombings, Islam Online states: “Martyr operations are not suicide and should not be deemed as unjustifiable means of endangering one’s life… n martyr operations, the Muslim sacrifices his own life for the sake of performing a religious duty, which is jihad against the enemy… [T]he Palestinians resort to martyr operations, in which the martyr blows himself/herself up, sacrificing his life for the sake of his country… I believe that those missions are a sacred duty carried out in form of self-defense… So whoever is killed in such missions is a martyr, may Allah bless him with high esteem.
About killing homosexuals, the site states: “Some scholars hold the opinion that the homosexual should be thrown from a high building as a punishment for his crime, but other scholars maintain that he should be imprisoned until death. Based on the above fact, we can conclude that, the judge is invested with full discretion as to whether this man is to be thrown from a high place or not, as a punishment for his crime. However, if the man survives death fall, the judge has the right to sentence him to death.”
On January 1, to ring in the “infidel” New Year, Islam Online managed to outdo itself. It published a poem – and advertised it on all of its web pages, including its homepage – detailing the steps that one goes about to behead human beings.
Here is exactly what the group posted, which is still up on its own page within Islam Online’s ‘Arts & Culture’ section:
How to Behead
Hold him
Tie the arms behind his back
And bandage his legs together
Just by the ankles
Blindfold the punk
So that he won’t hesitate as much
For on seeing the sharp pointy knife
He’ll begin to shake
And continuously scream like an eedyat
And jiggle like a jelly
Trust me–this will sure get you angry
It’s better to have at least two or three brothers by your side
Who can hold the fool
Because as soon as the warm sharp knife
Touches his naked flesh
He’ll come to know what’ll happen
It’s not as messy or as hard as some may think,
It’s all about the flow of the wrist.
No doubt that the punk will twitch and scream
But ignore the donkey’s ass
And continue to slice back and forth
You’ll feel the knife hit the wind and food pipe
But don’t stop
Continue with all your might.
About now you should feel the knife vibrate,
You can feel the warm heat being given off,
But this is due to the friction being caused.
Under the poem are comments from readers, many of which are critical of Islam Online for publishing it. A few of the comments, however, are aimed at non-Muslims. One states, “A PIG IS THE ONLY ANIMAL THAT INVITES OTHER PIGS TO COME AND ENJOY WITH IT’S MATE, A QUALITY THAT IS UNIQUE TO JEWS AND CHRISTIANS…”
Islam Online could be safely ignored were it not for the fact that it has countless Muslims supporters around the globe. This includes large groups within the United States and Canada that continue to give access to the site’s content through links and internet postings – groups like the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), the Muslim American Society (MAS), and the Muslim Students Association (MSA). Apparently these groups have no problem with the dangerous and offensive subject matter found on the website.
That begins to make sense, when one discovers that representatives from these groups are affiliated with Islam Online. Jamal Badawi, one of Islam Online’s Sharia scholars, is a board member of both ISNA and CAIR-Canada. Muzammil Siddiqi, also an IOL Sharia scholar, is a board member and the former National President of ISNA, Yusuf al-Qaradawi, the Chairman of Islam Online, is the Chairman of MAS’s Islamic American University (IAU). And Altaf Husain, a contributor and correspondent for Islam Online, is the former National President of the MSA and serves on the MSA Board of Advisors.

Here’s how they describe their site:
Our Mission:
To create a unique, global Islamic site on the Internet that provides services to Muslims and non-Muslims in several languages. To become a reference for everything that deals with Islam, its sciences, civilization and nation. To have credibility in content, distinction in design, and a sharp and balanced vision of humanity and current events.
Our Goals:
To work for the good of humanity, as Islam teaches us. To work to uplift the Islamic nation specifically and humanity in general. To support the principles of freedom, justice, democracy, and human rights. To reinforce values and morals on the individual, family, and community levels. To expand the circle of introducing Islam; present its wholeness and the way its system and laws complement each other; to affirm its balance, fairness and applicability in all places and times; and present tolerance and the humanity of its laws. To strengthen the ties of unity and affiliation between the members of the Islamic community and support informational and cultural exchange. To expand awareness of important events in the Arab, Islamic and larger worlds. To build confidence and a spirit of hope among Muslims.
Lies and deception.

That is one effective piece you have there. It deserves it*s own linked page so one could drop the link where it could do some good, here and there. = TG
