Another reminder, as if we needed one, at how equal rights and multicultarism are practiced in Arab countries:
As soon as the clock strikes 12 noon, only Saudis are allowed to buy water from the water distribution plant at Al-Faisaliah district in Jeddah. Two large signs on either side of the entrance state clearly “Expatriates served from 4 a.m. to 12 noon only.” A security guard is also on duty to check IDs.

And later that same day ….
“A Saudi man divorced his wife for watching alone a television programme presented by a male, an act he deemed immoral, the Al Shams newspaper reported on Saturday.
The man, whom the paper did not identify, ended his marriage on the grounds his wife was effectively alone with an unrelated man, which is forbidden under the strict Islamic law enforced in the ultra-conservative kingdom, the paper said.
Men in Saudi Arabia have the authority to divorce their wives without resort to the courts. “
Tell me these people aren’t crazy!
No doubt about it – if these folks didn’t possess the oil that we so badly need, they would be hard to find on Google’s search engine. We really need to get our collective act together to change our energy source needs so that we don’t have to deal with this vermin.
Saudi Arabia makes no pretense of embracing multiculturalism.
It is an Islamic state.
Bibles are searched for, and confiscated.
Liquor is searched for, and confiscated.
If you are served “bacon” for breakfast in a 5-star Saudi hotel, it is made of turkey.
Women and men are not allowed to swim together in public pools.
Men do not look at women other than their immediate family. I once tried to show some Saudi gentlemen a picture of my daughter, and they politely but firmly declined.
At the same time, I found the Saudi men I met to be perfect gentlemen who loved their wives and children.
Saudi women take their children swimming dressed from head to toe in black in 100 degree F. weather.
The city I was in was grey and drab, with very little colour and almost no neon signs, for example. There was some western infiltration, such as Pepsi and Pizza Hut. Companies that did business with Israel were generally shunned and there was a definite anti-Israeli anti-Jewish streak shown.
We can contrast this Islamic state with countries like Canada and the US, which used to be Christian, and which offered ordinary citizens far more leeway in their lives.
In spite of this, countries like Canada are bending over backwards to accommodate Muslims, while taking pains to marginalize Christianity and Christians from public life.
A generation or two from now we will see the fruits of this choice.
How about we only “overstayers” (gota like that term) a certian time to shop in our stores , lets say from 1am to 5am and watch the crap hit the fan.
“permit”
Back of the bus, infidel; get to the back of the bus. Don’t give us that Rosa Parks sh– here.
imagine the uproar if Mama Khadr or the rest of the Khadr spawn didnt get the same or better treatment here.
“what would Jack Layton say?”
What have ‘Arab countries’ got to do with anything? How is ethnicity the issue here?
And, by the way, what should we say about Condoleeza Rice’s recent praise of Saudi Arabia’s ruling regime as ‘good friends’ and ‘allies’ of the US, praise delivered right around the time of an announcement of major military transfers from the US to this oppressive, human-rights-violating regime?
Is ‘Arab countries’ really the phrase you want, or might ‘US-administration-backed tyrannies’ do as well?
It took till the eighth comment for things to be the fault of the U.S. Surely at least one U.S. blamer could monitor this site at all times so as to shorten the response time. Come on people. On guard.
It took till the eighth comment for things to be the fault of the U.S.
Yawn.
Remind us when you’ve bothered to spend any time looking into these issues, won’t you?
