Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

The Health Canada easter egg scare has me afraid to venture outside today Kate. I might accidently stumble on one of these toxic infected easter eggs, get sick and actually NEED to go into the public health system for tratment….a trip that is becoming one way for far too many Canadians.
That warning made it not worth facing the -3 deg C Global warming to sniff out easter eggs…damn, leave it to socialist propagandists to suck the life out of everything…fun vampires that’s what they are I tell ya.
Happy easter all at SDA.
Interesting–the jackboot Egg marketing board confiscated a farmer’s chickens in the Ottawa area because he did not sell his eggs through the Marketing Board. They stated this was dangerous because if eggs weren’t graded by the marketing board they could have salmonella on them. Now they tell us that eggs are dangerous because of salmonella? So does this mean they are not doing their job, or what?
OR–with the advent of GW could even they not clean up the salmonella? It is hard to play the scare game without a scorecard.
Happy Easter

Sorry, no can do. Gore must be coming to town today to expound his pounds. 25cm of snow in Halifax today….. where is global warming when ya need it?
Hi folks, it’s Vitruvius here. My appologies for the length of the excerpts below. I think the following essay is very important, and it’s quite long, so it takes a bit of space to give a proper sense to the material.
The Only Thing we Have to Fear is the ‘Culture of Fear’ Itself
http://www.spiked-online.com/index.php?/site/article/3053/
by Frank Furedi, 2007-04-04
[…] As the sociologist David Altheide has argued, ‘fear does not just happen; it is socially constructed and then manipulated by those who seek to benefit’.
[…] According to Stefanie Grupp, in her paper on the ‘Political implications of a discourse of fear’, individual fears are cultivated through the media and are less and less the outcome of direct experience. ‘Fear is decreasingly experienced first-hand and increasingly experienced on a discursive and abstract level’, concludes Grupp. She also suggestively notes that ‘there has been a general shift from a fearsome life towards a life with fearsome media’.
[…] When we witness the autonomisation of fear, then the question becomes not simply what is causing fear, but what are the potential negative consequences of fear? This can lead to strategies that focus on managing feelings of fear, in order to offset their damaging impact, rather than focusing on the source of the problem. […] The legal systems in the US and the UK have internalised this view of fear; courts are now moving towards compensating people for their feelings of fear, even when there is an absence of a perceptible physical threat. As Guzelian has noted, in the past ‘fright’ – that is, a reaction to an actual event – was compensated, whereas now the fear that something negative might happen is also seen as grounds for making a compensation claim.
Through risk management, fear is institutionalised and the fear response is further encouraged and culturally affirmed.
[…] Today’s free-floating fear is sustained by a culture that is anxious about change and uncertainty, and which continually anticipates the worst possible outcome. This ‘culture of fear’, as I and others have called it, tends to see human experience and endeavour as a potential risk to our safety. Consequently, every conceivable experience has been transformed into a risk to be managed. Garland writes of the ‘rise of risk’ – that is, the explosion in the growth of risk discourse and risk literature. He notes that little connects this literature together, other than the use of the word ‘risk’.
[…] Through ideas about vulnerability, a sense of fear starts to be seen as a normal state of being. The flipside of this deflation of the status of human subjectivity is the inflation of the threat that external forces pose to the individual self. In public debate today, the alleged vulnerability and impotence of the individual stands in sharp contrast to the formidable powers attributed to the everyday challenges we face. Through the constant amplification of the risks facing humanity – pollution, global warming, catastrophic flu epidemics, weapons of mass destruction, and various health scares – even the limited exercise of individual choice appears to be restricted by today’s harsh regime of uncertainty.
The identity of vulnerability is the flipside of the autonomisation of fear.
[…] A proper sociological understanding of fear requires further research into the way in which this emotion is mediated through today’s cultural outlook. We must address not simply the emotion of fear and the threats to which it is a response, but also the crisis of causality that shapes the fearful subject. As indicated previously, twenty-first century fear culture is increasingly being normalised as a force in its own right. In such circumstances, fear is a means through which people respond to and make sense of the world.
This stands in sharp contrast to the approach taken by US President Franklin D Roosevelt in his inaugural address in 1933, when he stated that the ‘only thing we have to fear is fear itself’. Roosevelt was trying to assure the public that it is both possible and necessary to minimise the impact of fear. His was a positive vision of a future where fear would be put in its place by a society that believed in itself. Today, politicians are far more likely to advise the public to fear everything, including fear itself.

Vitruvius, quick can we find a lawyer to launch a class action suit against the Goracle and Suzuki citing emotional trauma caused by excessive hysterical doomsday scenario reporting, with emphasis on their refusal to debate the issue so we can get some balance in the debate. Add to that fear of seeing our economy ruined! Any takers out there? Maybe Kinsella or Cherniak, they’re lawyers aren’t they?
Fed-up in NWO, .. it just may happen.

How about Layton & Dion skipping out on the Vimy re-dedication? Wow. What a pair of thin-skinned wimps. Dion is a citizen of France, & he can’t muster the cajones to travel there for this event? How much Canadian blood would it take, spilled on French soil, to get this little bastard’s attention?
I hope these two are keel-hauled by the media for their glaring absence.

Dion and Layton will not be missed at the Vimy memorial Ceremony. At least we won’t be having to look at either of the Panty Waists, they are not interested in anything Military anyway, against their Leftist sensibilities.
It would be a display of pure hypocrisy for them to attend with their attitudes. Dion could show a little respect in some way though, for saving his
second Country in two wars.
We are more than well represented by Harper who not only respects our proud Military history but supports it today. Whether we chalk it up to fate or extreme good fortune he will make us proud in both Official languages.
Raymond, I’m not expecting the MSM to have any unkind words for Dion and Layton, I can see them drumming up some serious outrage at Mr Harpers choice of tie or something equally as meaningful.
Sri Lanka Navy destroys two 70 meter long LTTE arms carrying vessels off the coast of eastern province within 24 hours
Sun, 2007-03-18 18:57
asiantribune.com/index.php?q=node/4964
The Sri Lanka Navy said the first LTTE vessel was initially noticed during the small hours of the day around 2.30 a.m. by naval units patrolling the nation’s Eastern coast.
The Sri Lanka naval vessels intercepted the intruding vessels by Radio Channel 16, which is the international maritime radio beam.
The naval units understood the first suspected vessel gave erroneous identification about them and noticed they were now trying to evade the area.
Then the naval units following a hot pursuit of the vessel ordered the sailors to stop the vessel for inspection.
The navy said then they fired warning shots and ordered them once again to comply. They fired the shots several times over the bows of the vessel.
The suspected vessel sailing without an ensign then fired its guns at the naval vessels.
The navy said the time when the Navy started retaliating by firing guns was around 7.30 in the morning.
The vessel then was fired at by several naval vessels surrounding it.
Spectacular huge explosions on board indicated the vessel was indeed carrying huge amounts of explosives. The vessel exploded and sank around 9.09 a.m. the navy further reported.

Comments made between two sweet little senior ladies after Good Friday mass yesterday: (standing room only -packed church BTW)
1st senior: It is so nice to see so many young families here teaching their children about why they have a holiday today.
2nd senior: Yes. it is too bad that that new Liberal leader Stephane Dion is an atheist. If he was Canada’s Prime Minister maybe Christian holidays would be made illegal.
1st senior: How can an atheist ever be Prime Minister? It says right on our money “In God We Trust”.
2nd senior: I think Liberals think money IS God.
At this point one of their husbands said “Let’s not spoil this special day of remembrance by talking about Liberals!”
India Plans Naval Wargames With China, Japan, Russia, US

New Delhi (AFP) March 29, 2007
India is sending its largest warships for joint manoeuvres with China, Japan, Russia and the US where it will showcase its growing naval strength, officials said Thursday.
Three Indian destroyers, a missile corvette, tankers and other combat ships will kick off the two-month series with five days of exercises with US warships beginning April 6 off the Japanese island of Okinawa, they said.
“The thrust of these exercises will be on combating terrorism on high seas including boarding and seizure of illegal-run ships,” Rear Admiral Pardeep Chauhan said as the ships headed for the Pacific Ocean.
[…………],
India’s 137-ship navy in recent years has increased its presence on strategic energy routes such as the Indian Ocean’s busy Malacca Straits, signalling its expanding maritime reach.
During the 2004 tsunami, India turned down offers of American assistance and instead sent out its navy to Sri Lanka and Indonesia besides evacuating 48,000 victims from the Andamans archipelago.
The Indian navy, which in 2005 purchased a second-hand aircraft carrier from Russia,
hopes to acquire two nuclear-powered submarines

I WISH our money said “In God we trust”. But, hey, this is Canada. We’re past all that. (Aren’t we?)
Kyrie eleison.
And God bless our fine PM, Stephen Harper, and his worthy PC colleagues in Parliament. That this group is now in charge–doing very well in a minority position–seems a miracle in itself and helps me sleep better at night.

You used the term “Panty-Waists in your comment.
My late mother used to use that term a lot. I always wondered it if was Panty-Waist or Panty-Waste.
She would use it to describe a male with feminine attributes. Can you shed any light on the origin of the term?
A curious person wants to know more.

To “Global Warming” you can add the “War on Terror” and the lies justifying it.
Short Takes
Joshua Muravchik – 4.7.2007 – 12:47PM
Back during the cold war, there was a joke about the New York Times that I believe antedated the coining of the term “political correctness.” A U.S.-Soviet exchange of nuclear missiles occurs and the next morning’s Times headline reads:
“Third World War Breaks Out: Minorities and Women to Suffer Most.”
As if determined not to allow parody to outdo self-parody, the Times on Sunday (April 1, appropriately) ran this headline: “Poorest Nations Will Bear Brunt as World Warms.” For my part, I would settle for being able to rely on the accuracy of the paper’s version of yesterday’s events, never mind tomorrow’s.

Scientist Dr. William Gray coined my favourite phrase of the day, called al gore “a gross alarmist” which i think summed the man up well.
BTW, it’s panty “waist” ’cause panty “waste” would be disgusing, not merely effeminate. Although, perhaps panty waste could describe those who quibble about the very crucial war on terror.

Sam Munson – 4.6.2007 – 4:47PM
Yesterday, NYU’s Center for the United States and the Cold War hosted a day-long conference on a subject long since thought closed: the historical significance of Alger Hiss (1904-1996). An architect of the Yalta Conference, leading figure in the founding of the United Nations, paragon of Rooseveltian liberalism, Hiss—as was charged by Whittaker Chambers in 1948 and as archival evidence released from the ex-Soviet Union in the late 1990’s would confirm—was also a dedicated spy for the Communists. …-

The global warming cult

When I got my copy of the March 12 issue of Sport Illustrated, with Florida Marlins pitcher Dontrelle Willis hip deep in a flooded Dolphin Stadium to promote the magazine’s “Sports and Global Warming” issue, I just had to laugh.
“As the Planet Changes, So Do the Games We Play: Time to Pay Attention,” warned the headline. […]
As much as I like the photography and some of the writing in Sports Illustrated, I will not be renewing my subscription.
Of course, what should we expect? Sports Illustrated is part of the Time Warner AOL conglomerate that has fallen hook, line and sinker for the global warming fraud. Through all of its media tentacles, this communications beast spreads the lie that man’s activity on the planet is responsible for changing the climate, specifically producing too much carbon dioxide that leads to global warming.
Now the hysteria is being spread to sports fans – many of whom, I suspect, only read Sports Illustrated to take a break from this kind of pervasive propaganda in news and entertainment outlets. …-

For the past 18 months, it has been open secret that Rogers engages in packet shaping, conduct that limits the amount of available bandwidth for certain services such as peer-to-peer file sharing applications. Rogers denied the practice at first, but effectively acknowledged it in late 2005. Net neutrality advocates regularly point to traffic shaping as a concern since they fear that Rogers could limit bandwidth to competing content or services.
