* The concert will produce more CO2 in one day than the total daily fossil fuel emissions for Austria, Chile, Finland, Greece, Iraq, Kuwait, New Zealand, Philippines, Portugal, Sweden, the Virgin Islands, and a dozen other countries combined.
* The concert will produce more CO2 in one day than the entire nation of Afghanistan produces in a year.
Upon reviewing the calculations, however, it’s important to note that one important variable has not been included. With the Gore Effect factored in, one can anticipate at least half of the planned events will be cancelled due to cold.
ya, he spends alot of time in china…..he will be arrested if he leaves, and plenty of access to cheap organs(not the musical type)
It’s odd to me, this line of argument, where someone who advocates for an issue is deemed a hypocrite if they don’t somehow fully-to-the-max-possible embody every aspect of the issue they advocate.
It’s obvious that Gore cares about this issue and that he’s sincere. He’s been on it for so long, documented, going back twenty years or so. He’s been consistent on the issue. He’s trying to spread the word and doing so requires the kind of travel it does. Namely, airplanes. Expend a certain amount to reap a (hopefully) larger benefit.
Think of it as an investment, that while initially sets you back, is designed to reap greater returns.
It’s such a silly argument, that when people note it, I wonder if they’ve run out of real things to criticize him about.
