Idiot of the Day

Yeah, it’s early but we have a winner!
The Globe & Mail reports that we spent $85-million to evacuate large numbers of non-taxpaying “dual citizen” teat-sucking ingrates out of Lebannon. The combox includes some non-idiots, like this guy:

This whole shamefull episode clearly shows that there is a double-standard when it comes to canadian citizenship : canadians with duties and other ‘canadians’ with privileges. I have been living in Montreal for many years, and for a while in a section of the town where a lot of people from Lebanon live. They come from upper middle-class Lebanon, speak french, are well-educated and know how ‘the system work’. Their mothers, fathers, cousins, etc, enjoy free medical care, send their kids to our schools, do NOT pay taxes, etc. All of this has been going on since 1990. They now think it’s a ‘droit acquis’ that we owe them. You question that and you’re on Bush’s payroll, you hate muslims and should be put on trial before the ‘Droits et Libertés’ tribunal. Our ‘leftists’ agree with them. What a ignominous farce.

However…
Darren Smith writes from “Dubai, Canada”:

I currently live in the middle east and I consider myself a proud, contributing Canadian, regardless of my tax paying status. It baffles me that Canadians view the funds used to evacuate Canadians as a waste of tax payer dollars. What makes Canada so great is our melting pot of cultures, our standing and influence in the international community and our global social conscience. You do not develop these traits by keeping immigrants out and keeping Canadians at home. I think before you develop an opinion on changing Canada’s immigration policy you should consider the demographic challenges we face and the value that immigrants bring to our economy and our way of life. Though I am not a Canadian tax payer today, I will be returning to Canada with my wealth and my knowledge while contributing to Canada’s presence as a global citizen. I am surprised that my values differ so much from fellow Canadians. $2.60 per Canadian tax payer is a bargain for the benefits we receive. I will gladly send my $2.60 home.

Wow, who knew Dubai had a shortage of People Who Can Squeeze the Largest Number of Cliches Into One Paragraph? That’s some skill set. Glad “Darren Smith” will be coming back here sometime to share this marvelous talent with us — there’s a desk at the CBC waiting for him.
He only left out “PS: We burned down the White House in the War of 1812. Har Har!” Or did he? What other Canuckistan cliches did Darren forget to squeeze into his little missive from The Land of the One Way Airline Ticket of Allah (pbuh)?
Pile on, kiddies.

“I will gladly send my $2.60 home.”
I don’t think that my family should be paying. At $5,666 per person evacuated (using Scott’s calculations), it could have been done much cheaper if contracted out.
    Please add 4 x $2.60 ($10.40) to your cheque.
    thanks

  2. Ian Lockhart of Edmonton states that even to suggest a discussion as to money being well spent on retreaving people from Lebonon is “abhorent”. He also seems to suggest that anyone who would do this is rascist. Might I suggest there is something basically wrong with suggesting that ” having a discussion” on any subject is “abhorant” and playing the old race card is indeed getting tiresome.

  3. maz2 (8:52) Speaking of Paul Martin, where is he ? What is he up to ?? Why is he not spouting meaningless cliches, defending the indefenceable Kyoto, promoting the nanny state, praising UN’s schemes like Oil For Food, backing asymetrical federalism ?? Why ?? Because he would be laughted off the stage, thats why. Along with Suzuki, Strong and that yank, Gore.
The collapse of PMPM reminds me of chain letters. Get them going with hype and falsehoods, promote them vigorously even in the face of ridicule and when they are exposed as junk,.. disappear, hideout for awhile,.. and then, SURFACE AGAIN !! somewhere else. Like the UN ??
Warren Kinsella did Canadians a very big favour.

  4. I wonder if Darren Smith supported Paul Martin ?? ..hmmm .. Seems that his comments were right out of PMPM’s playbook. They say you reap what you sow. Boy, do Canadians ever have a lot of weeds to kill.

  5. al-lea said: “playing the old race card is indeed getting tiresome.”
Copy that. A racist is someone who is winning an argument with a Liberal. Similarly, an “anti” “semite” is someone who is winning an argument with a “neo-con”. In any case, the $135 million we wasted cleaning up after Israeli war crimes could’ve been better spent fixing more pressing, more CANADIAN concerns, such as security screening for the 90% of immigrants to Canada who are not screened.

  6. How about “Canadians are so lucky to be living in such a rich cultural mosaic.”
    Yeah. Like Caledonia, for example.

  7. I am surprised and almost ashamed nobody has mentioned ones of da greatest canadien cliches: “da proof is da proof…” ’cause dats all we needs to know (plus or minus a fews millions), eh.

  8. “…consider the demographic challenges we face and the value that immigrants bring to our economy and our way of life.”
Immigrants can certainly bring value to Canda…if they live here and pay taxes, that is.
I work on the side as a short order cook when my PC repair biz is a bit slow, and my boss is Lebanese. He’s a good guy and I’d be glad if Canada could have more like him. As to the moron who wrote this trash, Lebanon is welcome to keep him as I don’t think he adds to the mix.

  9. How many complaining of the cost of this were the ones blasting those of us against the evacuation of cdns of convenience. How many of those evacuated at our cost turned around and tried or suceeded in getting refunds from the airlines thru interrupted travel insurance. It takes 10 yrs to gain citizenship in the US, 3 yrs in Canada. One passport per person, if Arar had only had one he would never have got into trouble. Those 7000 that returned should immediately have their cdn passport revoked. No one is advocating revoking cdn passports of persons with only one, a cdn one. Those 7000 should be sent a bill or turned over to a collection agency, and never be allowed back into canada. They probably returned when they found out it would be a while before they could vote liberal. Everyone write Monte Solberg to protest trudeaus vote getting immigration policy, and demand changes NOW. How many of those returning are getting the 12,000 US dollars, aka Hezbollah, to rebuild. Just wondering if any of those 7000 voted in Lebanon and who they voted for. Immigration and the CRTC should do a cross reference to see who has filed returns. How many of them return to canada on their own dime to get free health care. And, how many of them have bank accounts in canada that receive monthly OAS and welfare and UI cheques. We now have 7000 names to start to clean out the fraud. Listen to those complaining of the cost to start crying about the unfairness of this. If the ethnic organizations don’t start cleaning up their mess, somebody else will, and it will be nasty.

  10. I’m with Texas Canuck on this one (his first post).
I have several Canadian friends who have left Canada to live and work in the US…some on TN1 and some on H1B visas.
They maintain their Canadian citizenship because they are not immigrants and they may have to go back to Canada at anytime – within 30 days if they lose their jobs.
However, while there, they have no interest at all in paying both American AND Canadian taxes. I agree with them 100%. While in the US, they are relying on American services and infrastructure for their daily lives…and Canadian services for nothing. But, that doesn’t mean that Canada doesn’t try to take a bite out of them. You must sever all financial/property ownership ties to Canada while you are in the US or Revenue Canada will come looking for you. Even holding on to your Canadian bank-based credit card can land you in that situation.
I think the problem here is that Canada does not treat dual-citizens in a balanced manner. If you are a Canadian citizen only, then I see no problem with the government helping to get you out of hot water and get you back to Canada if the place you are temporarily living and working goes to crap.
But, if you are a dual citizen and you are in the other country of citizenship – then you should have to fend for yourself. I know several people who have dual citizenship between Russia and Canada. All of them have said that if they were in Russia (even just for a vacation) and there was suddenly a Chechen attack in the area they were visiting, they wouldn’t expect the Canadian government to do anything at all…no more than they would expect the Russian government to do anything if Canada suddenly came under attack from a terrorist group and they happened to be in the crossfire. If you are a dual citizen, you should accept that, when in either of the two countries, the de facto situation there at the time is all that matters. Just because you have papers that say you can legally live and work in more than one nation does not mean that one nation is responsible for saving you a$$ when something goes wrong in the other.
Unfortunately, Canada is all for recognizing the “rights” of its citizens living abroad…but it has no concept of placing “responsibilities” on those who choose to claim citizenship in another country.
Citizens of convenience is a good way to put it.
As I understand it, the Americans have an interesting way of looking at these kinds of situations. Officially, they don’t recognize dual citizenship. But, they know that it goes on in a de facto sense because there are people living in the US who actually do hold passports for both countries. As a rule, they don’t make a big deal about it as long as none of these dual citizens makes a stink. But, the second that someone pulls a stunt like these Lebanese, they use the “official” fact that the US doesn’t recognize dual citizenship to put the whiners back on the defensive. “You want us to save you? What were you doing in that hot-spot for so long? Are you an American or not? You claim to be a citizen. Why do you hold a passport for another country then? Have you committed immigration fraud?”
If we had a system like that, we could shut up these “entitled” people so quickly.

  11. “True Dopia” – Excellent.
Kathy; your comment about our free health care system reminds me of an article (Macleans?) I read this spring about a BC hospital admin. essentiallly complainiing about his budget being blown by foreigners who assume our healthcare system is free to everyone who visits Canada.
He meant specifically Americans, wasn’t so much criticizing them (neither am I) but rather Canada for it’s founding principles of ‘treat now, ask questions later’.
He’s right it’s our system that needs fixing. As with the situation outlined above. It’s my understanding that Americans get a bill if they need rescuing.
$85 million is a lot of money especially when it’s spent on ungratefull whiners. Canadians need to get some spine and start asking where the money’s coming from and how many generations it will take to pay for it.

  12. Darren could have added that any children taken back to Lebanon are saving us taxpayers —it’s become a dirty word— a drain on our education systems. He could have said that once those kids complete their training in the state sponsored Hezbollah training camps over there, they can come back to Canada and share their knowledge with the other kiddies.
But I guess he wouldn’t say that.

  13. Nemo2:
THX for the link, it was an excellent read.
Hard Marxism is dead, but the “soft Marxism” of political correctness or “cultural Marxism” is alive, well, and suppressing free thinkers in the West.
The author correctly notes the underlying linkage points where ‘radicalized Islamists’ and ‘cultural Marxists’ both share an inherent distaste for truly free thought as dangerous and to be suppressed through a variety of mediums.

  14. “PS: this is Kathy Shaidle guest posting for Kate, just so you’ll know where to direct your annoyance :-)”
Great. We’ll get our ass handed to us by a girl.
    Again.

  15. Hi Kathy,
‘Any chance you can disentangle from the filter the comments I posted a few hours ago? I listed five or six things that make Canada GR-8…
Would the asterisks catch it in the filter, or was it the inclusion of “abortion-on-demand” that did it?

  16. Bob, of course you are right, Israel is guilty of a “war crime,” that is, of daring to exist. The equivalency arguments are getting old. As Jonathan Kay said in the Post yesterday, no matter what happens, it’s the West’s fault. Bob, I think you should emigrate to Iran immediately, where you can be free of living in our society and it’s “war crimes.” You really have no idea, do you?

  17. I really really really REALLY don’t want to feed the trolls. But I would point out to all of you the glaring logical inconsistancy in Bob’s post way back when.
He says “$85 million? We should send Israel the bill for their unprovoked, illegal, disproportionate, and criminal invasion of the sovereign state of Lebanon.”
How, I wonder, can an unprovoked illegal and criminal invasion of a sovereign state also be disproportionate?

  18. If we are to limit the definition of a Canadian citizen to those who live in Canada and pay Canadian taxes, then people on welfare, and seniors on small fixed incomes are only half-Canadian. Is that what we want? See what I mean? Logic 101, people.
Those who live in Lebanon and pay taxes in Lebanon are in fact among the most valuable Canadians, because they spread the word abroad that being Canadian involves more, far more, than just residency and taxes. The evacuees are pioneers who represent Canada on all our behalf. They should receive the same benefits — and more — as the narrow-minded bigots who think that staying at home in their little cloistered world and giving up a bit of their income to the Canadian government makes them somehow more Canadian than those who expand their horizons — and our collective political views — abroad.

  19. Bob is suggesting that when provoked one turn the other cheek.
Pierre Pettigrews chauffeur is wishing he hadnt.

  20. Libby Raoul said: “The evacuees are pioneers who represent Canada on all our behalf. Another case of someone who is so open minded that his/her brain has fallen out.

This is a joke, right? 50k Lebs got their hands on Canadian passports – they’re not Canadians, they weren’t born here, they have no ties -they’re just Lebs whom the feds gave easy access to our passports.
Why don’t we go the whole nine yards and just offer up passports to anyone around the world? We can call them pioneers and loathe our narrow-minded cloistered selves all the more.
    Sheesh.

  22. Good catch Karl
Not only is boob a moron he is also an illiterate. I think we can bestow upon him the official title of:
    ‘chattering sphincter”.
85Mil who cares. It is small potatoes compared to the billions pissed down the toilet by the former Liberal mafioso.

I thought that is what the ‘foreign affairs department’ was paid to do?

  24. Oh yes Libby I’m sure they’re doing a bang-up job of selling Canada.
Too bad the homicide bomber who just killed 4 of our Canadian soldiers in Afghanistan, didn’t hear about our wonderful, ‘Refer a Canadian Citizen’ pioneer program.
The new $85 Million Ad-scam – selling the benefits of Canadian Citizenship to people who want to nuke us. Good value for the Canadian loonie.

  25. Amazing.
Nothing, absolutely nothing, gets this crowd going like good, old-fashioned immigrant-bashing.
    Despicable.
And they wonder why people in big cities — places where immigrants live, work, make friends, and help build communities — feel like vomiting at the thought of this bunch with unhindered power.
It is also amazing, by the way, how little anyone here would ever protest the idea of repatriating a Canadian who’d lived in, for instance, Seattle, for 25 years.
    Provided they’re white.

  26. fwank: brown people HATE white people. Immensely. So stick your political correctness up an orifice or orifii of your choosing, mmm-kay?
Brown-on-white crime is reaching epidemic proportions in my community and across Canada and that is a FACTUALLY ACCURATE statement; until that gets addressed let’s stop talking about how racist whitey is and let’s focus on why brown people HATE white people so much. Frankly, the increase in anti-white racism scares the hell out of me…

  27. Hi, Kathy!
The concept of dual citizenship, in itself, sounds good. And in an increasingly globalized world, it should make a lot of practical sense.
Then comes this silly Lenanon crap.
Why can we not be more selective about what countries dual citizenship can be extended to?
Like restricting dual citizenship to free “western” democracies like the US, Australia, England, etc. and denying it to various cesspools and dictatorships and disfunctional states like Lebanon? Hezbollah, a declared terrorist org runs half the country, and we extend dual citizenship?
    Ridiculous.
I’m sure rational criteria could be developed, resulting in less abuse of a fairly good idea.
Might it also encourage the many thousands of dual-citizenship Canadians in these countries to demand they clean up their act?
    Just a thought.

  28. This has been said various times , but I believe it needs to be imprinted on our minds. There is the old type of immigrate who comes to start a new life from political, social, religious, or economic persecution.
Than there is the “new migration immigrant. They are more interested in there old Country than this one. The ties are not binding, since its only money coupled with status, this gets them in there homelands. There was no persecution on any level. There pocket book means more than a new life or start. This group are economic scavengers. They are by far the predominant drain now on many of our institutions. Health care being only one. As well there the standard today , not the aberration, as in the past.
The authenticity of this situation with immigrants. Is not them coming here to live , work & have a new life. I would venture unless there fanatics. That most likely even Religion nor politics makes much of a difference. Let alone “race” which I view as an artificial absurdity from the 16nth Century to justify slavery. Where there is a crisis with an ethnic group its usual a continuance of their former behavior in the old Lands.
No, the real problem is the way of thinking of the “New” Immigrant.
This fellow is using this Country to bring aging parents over, so the State cares for them. Not them & one check is more than most have seen in there life of any monies. They continue with political ventures in there old Nation. Trying to transfer them to some relevance here. They are loaded with incentives, the natives do not have, or will have. There if a minority, already given certain privileges that the folks who where born there are denied. As a protected class they have hate laws to protect them & no one need but curtsy to them, least they become known as bigots. Sweet. Not only that they know from Chinese boat refugees & thousands of illegal ones. That there chances of being booted out are near nil. Same goes for criminals. Indeed since cabinet ministers can allow 2000 people in on there ok , its worse. I wonder how many Users gagliano brought over, perhaps for a small fee?
This was started by the Liberals to have perpetual power by hordes of thankful voters who they thought would be indebted. It worked for a time. Now they believe they have the upper hand & freedom to attack our way of life. With State sanction & police back up.
Stats Canada has been fudging figures for years. Including illegals. The ages & profession if any, as well. This is to cover up the “New” immigrants welfare claims. Some are made from there home Countries before they even arrive.
Instead of Citizens of Canada we now harbor people who’s first loyalty is to there Mullah, Old Country, or even enemies of the Nation they are using for an economic stop & shop. They are still bound by ties to there old Nation . Since most where never harmed by it. They now feel they have the right to change our society into a duplicate of there old ones. Why not? They have no log in the Canadian fire. It was given to them without sacrifice.
Compare this with the old time immigrants. They could not learn the language of the land fast enough. Education was a big thing & reason for coming,, as was land. Most like Ukrainians had been abused beyond endurance. Chinese of the Ming dynasty or Jews from Europe. Most Europeans had had enough of there aristocracies & class systems. They wanted a clean break & went for it. They made a Nation from scratch.
The “new “ones just want there own Fatherland back by forcing their customs & ways on us while looting this one to go onto the next.
This is an era of mass migrations. Demographically & by the timidity shown by politico’s. Who suck up to every threat of some of these psycho’s. They may yet get there wish.
One only has to look at Mexican immigration to America or the recent Lebanese experience to see this is no exaggeration.
In short it’s the melting pot that world that woks. The other just makes a caste system based on rights by customs, Religion, gender, or now sexual parody. An individual must have commitment to one thing or another. Allowing them to vote Liberal , make money, or a bolt hole from war, hardly makes for loyal citizens. As we are seeing all to much of. I say with John Howard only Using Canada instead of Australia. If you don’t like our freedom of Religion, hard work ethic, autonomy of speech, or if you can’t take criticism . Go back home with your money & hate. I am tired of paying dead beats Native Canadians or not. Having foreigners tell me what to do or believe is atrocious & is an abandonment by our civil institutions & a Nation states first duty. To protect there citizens at all costs.
This is migratory Immigration. We all know how that ended for Rome.

  29. Immigration sucks for lot os reasons here are a few,
Immigrants are less likely to file taxes.
    http://www.cic.gc.ca/ENGLISH/research/papers/education/education-r.html
“The incidence of personal income tax filing for Canadians 20 years of age and over in 1995 was roughly 91%. The comparable figure for immigrants 18 years of age and over as captured in the IMDB was 57%.”
    http://www.cic.gc.ca/ENGLISH/research/papers/education/education-h.html
“14.3% of immigrant taxfilers landed since 1980 reported welfare benefits as an income source in 1995, as compared to a 9.6% incidence for all Canadians.”
so people here 15 years are 50% more likely to be on welfare, no wonder we need government housing.
    http://www.cic.gc.ca/ENGLISH/research/papers/education/education-e.html
“12% to 18% reported unemployment insurance benefits”
up to 18% sounds real high.
“Immigrants with 0 to 9 years of schooling were less likely to report employment earnings but more likely to declare unemployment insurance benefits or welfare payments when compared to the all immigrant taxfiler averages.”
    http://www.cic.gc.ca/ENGLISH/research/papers/education/education-c.html
“In 1995, those with 0 to 9 years of education accounted for 18%”
18 % of those we are bringing in to help the economy never got past grade 9???
PLus some of them want to kill the white folk for being Un Muslim.

  30. That’s it—I am going to do everything I can to get dual citizenship—what a sweet deal. Frank, come on with me, man! We can see the world and brag about our beautiful country AND get my friends and neighbors back in the homeland to rescue us should we need it.
Absolutely moronic. Another prime example of putting responsibility on everyone else but ourselves. And Karl–I disagree with you. Frank’s brain is intact–it is just a small mind, not an open one.

  31. There are religious immigrants here, who strongly support CAIR’s words, “…Islam is not here to be one of the religions, it’s here to be the only religion.”
Who are here to make Canada into a fascist Islamic country, I might add.
We need a moratorium on immigration.

  32. I forgot to add that I see no problem with Duel Citizenship. There are many reasons Canadians or Americans live abroad. As long as there loyal citizens & are not involved with Counties at war with us or our allies. I find it causes no harm. Can actually enhance relations with trade.
Its third party citizenships that are the rub. Your Lebanese one day, Canadian another than decide to go to America or Britain. Than they try to adopt duel citizenship. Using just the Canadian one. The only way an individual should get it, is by using his native lands passport & papers. Not a Country one was not born in.
Frankly its the autocracy & immigration policies of this Country which are at fault. They give out Canadian passports & documents like cotton candy at a fair.
As for duel American Canadian residency. Its stupid to live by each other. Half of our populations are mixed not only by Indians, but in the West by homesteading. We share 200 years of history before the Revolution & after. How many Empire loyalists came to Canada, or should I say the losers of the Revolution? English Canada would not even exist without Washington & his Virginians.
As well the fact, our economy’s are almost fused together. We have the same Motherland, legal tradition & for the most part language. Politically at least our West where as fanatical as Americans are about our rights.
I would reserve duel citizenship for close allies & those born in there respective lands. I do not hold with the “Global nation” mentality. Individual Nations are a bulwark against despotism, & an allergy against cultural stagnation.

  33. bryceman :

Please refrain from injecting any common sense into a discusion. (O:} Now this is an idea with merit.

  34. I find the bleatings here about racism unctuous to say the least.
If multiple cultures come together to live in one place, there a limited set of blending options: 1) no blending – all remain distinct 2) total blending – synthesize into something new and different 3) something between the two.
The tenor of the rants against multiculturalism here is not about race, it is about the choice of outcome 1, rammed down our throats by the thieving sect that has run this country since “Just Watch Me”.
Many of us don’t see that it works, think it’s manufactured as part of a Librano branding exercise. “We don’t have an identity, so let’s create the identity of not having an identity”.
It’s not about race. It’s about the options. Personally, I wish the government would get the hell out of the culture business, and just let the people that live here brew up their own.
The multicult crap we’ve been served up by the Libranos over these years is BS. Do you think the fact that it’s easier to get a group to vote along party lines when you keep them herded as a group than if you foster integration and synthesize (by keeping your hands off it)?
I no longer hear the ‘racist’ smear when I talk about multiculturalism. That kind of shoutdown is exactly what the extremists are doing to the Pope: discussing the 3 blending options is taboo. PC tyrants, take a hike.
    end of rant

  35. darrin will be “home”.
about 5 minutes after he ages to the point where he needs about a million dollars a year in ‘free’ medical care to get him through his golden years.
and he will be complaining about quality of care at that time.
    guaranteed!

  36. “Do you guys plan on stripping every Canadian living in the U.S. of their Canadian citizenship too? ”
Not a bad idea. We could have started with Ignatieff before he reappeared on the Canadian scene.

  37. NO, Bob: an anti-semite is not “someone who is winning an argument with a neo-con.” An anti-sermite is a despicable and stupid loser who hates joos in general OR who criticizes Israel for failing to meet standards not expected of any other nation on the planet. They make paranoidal scapegoating statements but never arguments.

  38. Bob and Doug Mackenzie 2006:
    “Take off, eh*!”
*You lousy foreign, taxpayer dollar milkin’ hoslamists! This is the Great WHITE North (ROOCOO COOO COOO COO COO COOO warcry)!
Pass me another beer, eh? And not none of that stinkin import stuff either.
    Cheers!
    Leto

  39. Hey Kathy,
you have been threatening to move to the US for good. When are you going to make good on your promise?Canada would be a better place without the likes of you.An ignorant, racist shyster is what you are.Get the hell outta here!

  40. “Mad Mike”:
“Why can we not be more selective about what countries dual citizenship can be extended to?
Like restricting dual citizenship to free ‘western’ democracies like the US, Australia, England, etc. and denying it to various cesspools and dictatorships and disfunctional states like Lebanon? Hezbollah, a declared terrorist org runs half the country, and we extend dual citizenship?”
Your thinking is muddled here. You can’t “extend” dual citizenship to anyone.
Like every other country in the world, Canada only controls its own citizenship laws. It has no say in whether someone can or cannot be a citizen of another country.
“Dual citizenship” isn’t a legal construct. It simply means someone is a citizen of two countries. Like the US, we could choose to have someone “renounce” their other citizenship to obtain Canadian citizenship. But, while this might seem like an impressive gesture, that’s all it is. Again, many countries simply don’t recognize such renunciations, so a new Canadian could still end up being a dual citizen anyway.
The only way Canada could ever prevent dual citizenship would be by insisting that:
    1. only native-born Canadians can be citizens; and by
    2. revoking the citizenship of any Canadian who obtains citizenship in another country.
    Not a particularly practical policy,eh?

  41. Dual citizenship faces review
    Evacuation from Lebanon hastened rethinking
The federal government plans to revisit the 30-year-old rule allowing Canadians who live abroad to hold dual citizenship…
…I’ve always questioned dual citizenship — and I’m the former minister,” said Ontario Liberal MP Judy Sgro, a Liberal immigration minister between 2003 and 2005. “We’ve paid all that money to evacuate all those people, and now 7,000 of them have gone back…”
She added that the benefits that come with Canadian citizenship for those living abroad — including pension benefits and assistance from Ottawa in times of emergency — are “ripe for exploitation…..”

  42. The Sickly State of Health Insurance
“…He’s been at ABC for 16 years. His health plan is through Disney/ABC, and is CIGNA/PPO, for which he pays $250 a month with a $350 annual deductible. Born in Canada on Memorial Day in 1952, he has been in the United States for 15 years but maintains dual citizenship. The biggest reason why? Yep: “Health care–socialized medicine….”

  43. The 85 million is no big deal. How much have we given in foreign aid, say, to China?
I wish that bloggers would engage in a serious discussion of immigration instead of merely high-lighting a few troublesome incidents on the periphery…. dual citizenship and such.
Immigration is a scam designed to bid down wage-structures by offering our financial elites a blank cheque of cheap labour…..PERIOD!
It’s not just the fault of the Libranos or the dippers; it’s also something conservatives are big on as well.
Deasn’t anyone remember Mulroney? He was just as bad as Trudeau….except he had better hair.
And, of course, our “solidarity-forever” unions are completely mum on the subject.
And south of the border the Rep/Dem régime ( hey! two draft-dogers in a row have won the whitehouse!) cheers on the migration of illegals.
Bush and Ted Kennedy can’t agree on anything, but when it comes to granting amnesty to..um…”the undocumented” both clasp hands and gaze longingly into each others eyes.
It’s a love match! These dudes are gettin’ an Azatlan!
Our elites are so blinded by greed and by selfishness that NOT EVEN 911 ( no illegals involved in that, right?) can teach them anything.
Perhaps it’ll take a radioactive 911, replete with billowing mushroom clouds above Manhatten, to wake these idiots up.
Repatriated Lebanese with dual citizenship are a mere detail when one considers the nasty effect that immigration has had.
Our cities are defaced, our social fabric torn to rat-shit and our citizenship tarnished and belittled to the point where it is just meaningless.
And all this while our canabalistic elites (both Liberal and Conservative) grab those cheap labour profits and chill out in the Caymans.
It’s hard to even care anymore….
