  1. Sometimes I’m so embarrassed to be Canadian.
You have to understand that Canadians are relentlessly indoctrinated by the far left state-run taxpayer-funded Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC).
It takes a strong mind to resist the propaganda. Thank goodness our state censor finally (after nearly 5 years) lifted its ban of the Fox News Channel last week.
Seeing a conservative on TV here is about as rare as a Sasquatch sighting.
P.S. Jean Chretien’s son-in-law is the son of the largest shareholder of the biggest company in France’s TotalFinaElf oil company – a company that was in bed with Saddam Hussein. The media here gave about 10 seconds of time for that story.

  2. Canadian conservative, I was glad to read your comments. After all the news coming down from our Northern cousins (if the UK represents our forefathers, you must be our cousins) I was really concerned about our relationship.
Especially with all that coverage about
Ms Parrish’s stomping and swearing, ranting and raving. Began to think it was something in the drinking water (figured it had to be Evian, the French influence seemed so pervasive).
We’ll keep a lookout for more info on the connection with Chretien’s son-in-law & the Oil for Food scandal. Thanks for the “heads up”.

  3. As someone who will be forced to navigate through the crowds of “useful idiots” tomorrow during President Bush’s visit, I am constantly amazed at the lack of academic vigour exhibited by folks who are presumably instructors at one of our premiere law schools.
The first Gulf War was between Iran/Iraq. The second Gulf War was UN sanctioned in response to the illegal invasion of Kuwait. That war was never formally over, only suspended on the condition that Saddam Hussein allow inspections for WMD and behave himself. He did neither, therefore the third Gulf War was the logical follow on to the “or else” clauses in the original resolutions. ergo, it was sanctioned by the UNSC in the original resolutions. (despite what Kofi “Oil for Me” Annan may say)
As for Geneva Convention violations by the Americans, if our lawyer friends would read the whole Convention, they would discover that to get rights, come responsibilities. (A shocking concept for liberals everywhere, responsibilities, what dat!) Such things as “being part of a legitimate force, wearing uniforms, not using civilians and non-combatants as shields, not using mosques and other historic or cultural places for military purposes” are some of the things which they must do to receive the benefits of the Convention. Summary executions by beheading don’t even merit mention in the Convention as a bad thing.
To our credit, the West does follow the precepts of the Convention, even to those who have repudiated it. That is why soldiers from Abu Ghraib are being court martialled for being unprofessional.
Michael Mandel and Gail Davidson are an embarrassment to thinking Canadians (and I am sure, to thinking lawyers)everywhere. I suspect that they are also volunteering to aid Saddam Hussein as part of his defence team for his upcoming Crimes Against Humanity trial. ‘Nuff said.

  4. Maggie, please don’t judge Canada based on Carolyn Parrish. She’s like our Michael Moore, except without the charm or restraint.

  5. Embarased to be Canadian? How about embarrased to be human. What could possibly have happened to Michel and Gail to turn them into such pompous, self-important, humourless cretins. Law School may account for some of it but usually the deliterious effects aren’t this pofound. The only hope is that we all do our part and just keep lauhing at these twits until they come to the liberating realization that they are the joke.
