    Until we wake up and learn how to approach the voters as well as the Liberals, we are going to continue to lose most of the time. Let’s look at the current CPC leadership: Andrew Scheer, a guy who may be a decent Christian sort despite the fact he has spent his entire life in politics, but simply can’t excite the electorate, is incapable of making a “ring from the rafters” type of speech, and bores people to sleep. And with this guy at the helm, the CPC is desperately trying to convince themselves that they can win.

    I detest Trudeau and the whole LPC machine,have since Pierre’s days, but unlike way too many conservatives, do NOT believe in the theory that we always lose because The Other Guys are idiots. WE conservatives play this game like minor leaguers and all we can expect is to lose to the major league when a contest occurs.
    Barring an unprecedented shift of progressives away from the LIberals, which I would bet the farm against, I do not see the CPC with their current leadership winning in October. There ARE miracles, but I doubt God cares much about our politics.

      In the past 35 years conservatives of one form or another have held power for 18 of them.

      Provincially it’s a similar story.

      Canadians today are far more fiscally conservative than they were in the 70s. And in some social aspects – crime for example they are also much more conservative.

      As Canada continues to age and to care less about the interests of Quebec – as the new Canada west of the Ottawa river grows in power and political confidence it will become even more conservative.

      The greatest threat to this confederation is the vestiges of old Canada frustratithe new Canada’s ambitions To the breaking point.

      Clearly though it is more Conservative than mr Morris asserts it is far less conservative – especially on social issues – than the US body politic. It is also far less polarized. The winning strategy remains for now one of moderation to either the right or left. And the Harper/Scheer approach is the only one for now than really deliver power and thus really deliver change.

      The Canadian body politic is a super tanker. Changing its course to the right takes slight nudges on the tiller AND patience.

      More devout conservative change will – like the US – come from the regions – the state and provincial level first – before they and their ideas become national. Reagan came from California. The successes of the the new south drive right to work regs. Etc.

      Look to the Doug Fords and Jason Kenney and Moe to drive the harder firmer agenda – not the CPC. Not yet.

        And much of Canada’s frictions are federal versus provincial which is not the case in the US and elsewhere.

    7. I agree that there is too much ad hominem instead of nuance regarding the left but the weakness of conservatives stems from the fact that there is an inherent logical fallacy in conservatism. In strict ideological terms, conservatives are fatally compromised libertarians. They believe that you can add a negative to a positive (dog shit to a milkshake) and still come out positive. In politics today, within our engorged bureaucracies and ubiquitous market intrusions by the leviathan state, being in favour of a limited government means you should be eliminating shrinking or deregulating the status quo. This puts you at odds with not only the Liberals and their more radical mentors from the Greens and NDP but the state as well. They are the Parties of government while the Conservatives (should be) the Party of reducing government, but in order to get elected, either accept the status quo and campaign as squishes (moderates) whose only appeal to their actual conservative base is to slow the growth of leviathan. This makes “conservatives” a coalition of disparate interests. Hence Mad Max being booted from the CPC. He rejected the fatal compromise and despite him being what I believe the country needs, he is now is in the wilderness.

      I would love to see the Conservative Party disappear and the only alternative to the statists would be something like the Libertarians but “conservatives” are addicted to their blend of dog shit and milkshakes.

I think the problem is they try to play the game like Liberals, which is how we end up with so many Red Tory’s and Liberal-Lite leaders. I like how the Libranos invited their pals in the Media to step inside the usually private caucus to watch and hear the shitheaded actor recite his scripts… the Media loved it! Its a good way for the Turdhole to perform his act and do a little campaigning before Media cameras without having to take any questions… you’d almost think the Liberals and the Media are colluding together. Turdhole doesn’t look too worried about being caught up in an endless stream of lies and scandal… he seems his usual clueless self… Turdhole can do as pleases and he and his handlers know it.

        The Canadian Arabic newspaper, Al Forqan, based in Windsor, Ontario and “distributed in Canada and the United States described a terrorist attack against a synagogue in Jerusalem as a ‘qualitative attack’ carried out by ‘two heroes.’”

        Six people were murdered in the jihad attack; the Palestinian Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) claimed responsibility.

        Would a Jewish paper ever publish such a report if Muslims had been murdered in cold blood in a mosque? Of course not, but imagine the outcry if the same such despicable report were indeed published by a Jewish or Christian publication. But Jewish and Christian papers do not publish such hate and incitement. The bigotry of low expectations and the guilt for past wrongs continue to allow for a two-tier legal system, one that enables victimizers and denigrates victims and potential victims. A system that in fact ignores a stark breach of hate laws on one side (as we see in this case) and on the other, punishes people for calling out hate, discrimination, murder and intolerance of jihadists and Islamic supremacists.

  23. JWR broke Rule Number 1 for Liberals, the mandarins are in charge and we exist to create the best possible working conditions for them.

    I am surprised she lasted even this long. The Liberal Party would be nothing if it were not the enabler in chief for the civil service.

    That is why they are now so dangerous because the civil service have decided it is their mandate to force the green agenda on the country regardless of economic consequences. We don’t just need a change in government, we need a change in the civil service, and that would take revolutionary actions on a large scale. The second best solution is to ignore them (especially on climate change issues) and put them in a locked room as Harper tried to do.

    But this may lead to an interesting Liberal campaign theme — Vote for the Party of No Secret Recordings (of us). Let’s get back to Canadian values where the government keeps track of us and not the other way around. What’s next, responsible government?

    1. There’s no way either of them would join the Conservatives anyway but I think Scheer is smarter than that. I hope he keeps the issue alive, it’s a scandal. Trudeau thinks he has buried by booting the two squealers out, he’s in for a surprise.

    2. They wont be knocking on any doors and anybody that took them in would be foolish. They come with more baggage than a airliner from India. I suspect we have heard the last of them as elected politicians.

      If either were cajoled into joining another party it would come at great price. They would demand a front row seat and the ‘regulars’ in the party would be moved aside to accommodate. Think those blondies on the CPC front bench would stand for that? ha
