“Do you want to get out of this [addicted] life, or not?”
That encapsulates my opposition to InSite, i.e. InSite doesn’t put that ultimatum out there.
Sorry to be off topic but just across the wires…Andrew Breitbart has died. A brave conservative warrior has passed. Rest in peace.
Whoa.
I just read that on Michelle Malkins site too. He collapsed last night while walking near his home.
RIP Andrew Breitbart. It’s a sad day indeed.
Apparently, Andrew was about to release some footage of Obama in his university days. … Perhaps that is where the death by ‘natural causes’ originated.
I wouldn’t put anything past the criminal simians who infest the the white house at this time.
Who’s next, Sheriff Joe Arpaio?
ABE, dont jump to conclusions!!
If brietbart was about to do that there was others who knew and others who will publish it, andrew was a smart man and a determined man.
what a truley sad loss for TRUE journalism crazy seems like the bad ones are in and the good ones are kept out.
Paul, I hear you …. I was just heart broken and blurted.
Yep, gotta help all those poor potassium cyanide abusers.
Maybe we’ll cook up some crystal meth to ‘help them along’ with their clear thinking.
Are you into heavy metal, no problem we have mercury cynanide for you too!
Want to ruin your life fast or slow, have we gotta program for you…well as long as it expands the bureaucracy of ‘government intervention’.
Get with the program you have a Charter right to be a complete idiot, the supreme idiots have said so!
Oh you say you need insulin which helps you survive day to day, well heavens no that’s not covered by your health insurance policy or ‘government services’.
Diabetics demand a ‘safe insulin injection sites’!
Equality for all injection drug users!!
Cheers

Robert, could you please change that headline to:
“Assessing Vancouver’s Idiots.”
The problem extends far beyound pot.
There aren’t really many choices, the current policies only foster ‘hostile takeovers’ of drug dealers by other drug dealers and desperate addicts that commit crimes to feed their artificially expensive habits or that have problems with the poverty they put themselves and their families into paying for something they could grow for free…of course the alcohol they drink alongside the drugs is responsible for a lot more of the troubles that arise, especially when combined with drugs in someone who was a certified a$$hole to begin with.
Two choices…legalize everything and wait for the initial flood of overdoses to thin the herd…or adopt even more draconic laws and start to execute drug dealers at all levels until the supply is cut off..which it won’t be because greater risk entails greater profits…
Unfortunately, politics and political positioning by senior law enforcement managers who have ceased to be officers and become politicians in their hierarchy has fed the ‘war on drugs’ and will continue to do so until some common sense enters into it.
The main problem for politicians is that here’s a multi-billion dollar industry that they can’t tax and regulate and will never be able to and that’s something they can never accept.
The impression I get is like certain CEO’s/managers of large charities…insite…is nothing more than an iron rice bowl for those who work there.
What worries me, is when the big one comes and California slips into the Ocean, all the survivors will come to southern BC as it is just like what they had at home. Minus the orange groves of course but plentiful in nuts.
peterj: that is exactly what will happen – they will come to BC in droves.
Addiction is a difficult problem for society- there needs to be a balance between the letter and the spirit of the law.
An addict can not come to a realization or epiphany while on the drug of choice. Sober time is needed, that is where rehab can be helpful. Ibogaine treatment has been extremely successful as an addiction interrupter.
That encapsulates my opposition to InSite, i.e. InSite doesn’t put that ultimatum out there.
Exactly. THAT IS WHY IT WORKS. And that it works is why drug warrior neanderthals hate it.
There’s only one crazy drug policy that we need to discuss and it’s prohibition.
LAS, there are few things stupider than insite. All it does is to preserve the lives of criminals that would have otherwise done society a favor if they dropped dead from overdoses. Now, they’re allowed to perform their B&E’s and other criminal activity to obtain money for drugs.
I agree that all drugs should be decriminalized but it would also mean letting all people defend themselves with whatever means was necessary to blow away brain-damaged criminals trying to scrape together enough cash for their next high.
Insite is a cowardly way out for doctors who don’t want to prescribe drugs to addicts. Rather than push for decriminalization of drug sales and possession the BC College of Physicians supports such idiotic policies such as insite. All it’s doing is setting itself up as the target of a class action lawsuit by people in Vancouver who’ve had their homes or vehicles broken into by the “clients” of insite.
