  4. There is a very inconvenient fact that is wilfully ignored by people like “libertariansaresmarter” and that is that there is only one religion that seeks to murder all non believers today. The answer is Islam. By the way there is absolutely nothing libertarian in making such a silly typical leftist comment.

    chistians of yesteryear where quite barbaric at times. Today they have more toys to occupy their time with, so they are more sedate.
    And yes, I was brought up in a good christian home and went to a christian school, and that is what caused me to become an atheist

  9. GYM, I clearly stated today therefore excluding the past. My point remains uncontested that Christianity today does not seek to kill or murder non believers or even in forced conversions. Actually no other religion does except Islam. Although I am not Christian, I believe in recognising the truth about Christianity today. On a personal level I honestly care not what people believe or do not believe provided that they are not trying to push it down my throat nor seeking me harm.

  10. Don’t be too hard on GYM folks. He is one of those who spent more time on the Christian ritual than the Christian Reason. He is kind of fun to laugh at though. Complains about the sordid past of Christians so he joins the most murderous cult of all, atheism and then tries to defend the second most murderous cult, Islam.

  11. I range from agnosticism to belief most of the time, but this moral equivalence crap denies a basic theological difference between Christianity and islam.
    They always have to talk about the past to try to make this case. Although, I admit the talk about being pacified by “toys” is a new one.
    The difference between these two belief systems is obvious and it’s a difference that muslims are obviously quite proud of, despite the efforts of their apologists to deny it whenever they brag about their latest explosive atrocity.
    If someone becomes an atheist due to their allegedly good Christian home and upbringing, I’d suggest they’re not making an objective or thoughtful choice; perhaps they’re just engaged in juvenile rebellion or they had a rather unhappy childhood.

  17. Doug, actually the scripture you quote comes from the Hebrew Bible or Torah and in Hebrew it says “Thou shalt not commit murder”. The English translation replaces murder with kill, which is a shame due to the major difference.

    You are an atheist because of a choice made in your heart (not your intellect). Ps 14:1 The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.”
    The word fool does not relate or equate to a lack of intelligence.

  19. What kind of world would it be if all Muslims woke tomorrow morning as Christians and Islam vanished from the earth? 100 per cent better in my view.
    A a minimum there would be lots of dead air and blank newspaper space without all the daily Muslim atrocity stories. Islam is a scourge on this planet.

  22. I expect Islamists to really show their true colors in the next year,as they probably figure the window of opportunity may be closing.
    By “Window”,I mean the guy in the White House who is so naive about the agenda of the Islamists. He COULD actually lose the 2012 election,although that remains to be seen.
    Do Muslims care about what we think of them? Of course not,they consider us barely human,why would they care what we think of them?
    Keep those bombs a’ comin’, boys,maybe someone will wake up and smell the camel dung.
