Yes, NASA, the agency which claims it can predict global temperature two decades hence to a precision of a tenth of a degree, cannot do better than derive a forty-eight-hour window to predict the dropping to the Earth of a mass of metal and cable, even though they can track that object in space down to the meter.
Indeed.
h/t Kerry

Global warming has obviously affected the atmosphere to such an extent that satellite reentry can no longer be accurately predicted with the old models.
Get your hard hats out! The sky is falling again!
time to wrap my head in tinfoil
if there was only a way to target it on Al Gore’s house . . . any one will do.
I called my insurance agent about satellite insurance, she didn’t seem to know anything about it,and from the tone of her voice,I believe she thought she was dealing with a loonie!
When that thing comes down on their office,KA-BOOM!I’m going to phone ’em up and chide ’em a bit!
Yeah, imagine that. I’s almost like a guy who couldn’t hit the broad-side of a barn with a baseball even though he’s holding it in his hand, managing to blow up a house using a UAV at 10,000 feet, even though he’s halfway around the world. Clearly it could NEVER happen!
This is why Luddites shouldn’t be allowed to own computers – let alone an internet connection. Go milk your cows, and leave the science-and-technology stuff to your betters.

You’re as much an idiot as AlGore.
We don’t need a ‘climate change’ martyr.
Remember when the guys who worked for NASA were- you know- smart?
North of 60..(and your brain must be frozen)…We DO need a climate martyr..the Goracle killed by a VERY solid piece of carbon(called diamond) upside his watermelon head!!!..
Now crawl back under your bridge, troll, which you are!!!
Oh. And tell me, North of 60. What is the diff between soot and CO2??
1 in 3200, so about the same odds as certain posters making a valid point.
Chaos, to coin a phrase, is a bitch…
The size of the uncertainty is surprising. I had
thought that the atmospheric drag models were in better shape than that.
The juxtaposition of NASA uncertainty (which is believable) with NASA certainty in regard to climate
does underscore what balderdash the latter is.
I read up a little about the satellite. The problem they are having predicting the point of re-entry is due to the sun. It keeps changing. The solar wind is fluctuating broadly just lately, and that speeds/slows the satellite unpredictably.
This of course has nothing to do with our climate, which is all fracked up due to emissions from my truck.

I remember being taught that the atmosphere expands and contracts with the solar cycle such that it was included in NASA’s orbital debris models.
Imagine that…the sun does affects the atmosphere after all.
Energy per unit volume? Is this in the climate models?
Oh. And tell me, North of 60. What is the diff between soot and CO2??

1 mass unit of carbon oxidizes to 3.7 mass units of C02
BTW, you’re barking up the wrong tree you silly little twit. I don’t support the AGW beliefs of Gore or any of his ilk; I also don’t support idiots who would attack Gore personally or make threats against him. Try to be an adult and stick to the issues or go play in your sandbox with the other children.
Dynamics models don’t achieve much accuracy when the object changes shape.
That is; breaks apart.
