Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Thank God for people like Ezra fighting this. His Ethical Oil is a sparkling stream in the Canadian desert of ideas.
Ezra is brilliant.

I hope the legal firm that is working for the islamofascists (Norton Rose out of TO) takes a business hit from patriotic Canadians, but I’m not holding my breath.
I watched this delightful session earlier today.
It appears the Saudis are putting the lawfare muscle on Ezra and ethical oil.
It appears the Saudis got their noses tweaked by the ads which questioned the treatment of women and non existent ‘free speech’ in Saudi Arabia.
More ‘sharia-fying’ of free speech in Canada. Oh you can’t say that, you may offend someone’s wallet and their politics…
Of course the real game is that the West may not be as beholden to OPEC chicanery and green demagogery of the oil industry, all in an effort to keep prices high.
While I have yet to enjoy Kate’s headliner “Free Ethical Oil” at the pump; a price reduction would do much to ‘stimulate the LOCAL economy’.
Ahh, maybe the “Ezra-lites from the Levant” may save us…
Toss another log on the Saudi fire, it gets cold in the desert at night…

Most Canadian refineries use domestic crude. So why are we paying pump prices based on OPEC oil price?
The left will allways suport eastern oil. We have enough oil in N.AM. for hundreds of years but they don’t want someone to make a profit. This is why they will watch as women are abused. They don’t care about people.Only the party counts.Up the left. The rest get under their thumb.
Because oil is an internationally traded commodity. Nationalizing the oil industry was tried here in 1980. Never again.
Saw this on Ezra’s show last night. Pretty ballsy of the Saudis, but it got results apparently. CTV folded like a cheap suit.
CTV something new?
Welcome back Kate; appreciate seeing this. Cheers;
reference CTV folding here…

I would suggest targeting CTV’s biggest advertiser with complaints about CTV’s attack on free speech. Getting it’s biggest advertiser (or better yet ad placement agency) to start pulling ads would be wonderful.
I wonder how much of the anti-Oil Sands aspect of the environmental movement and it’s initiatives, including the AGW scam itself, are financed by the Saudis and other MidEast Oil Tics?
Wouldn’t it be deliciously ironic to be able to point at the Environmentalits and Warmists and say, “Look who’s really in the pocket of Big Oil!”?
More reason to boycott all CTV advertisers.
What a bunch of pussies.
The idea that Canada can’t screw over OPEC, if they actually had the gonads, is Saudis wishful thinking
Canada can reduce its pricing, both domestic & export together.. or piss on the USA and just reduce it’s domestic price…What will happen?
…Nothing… but piss off American Consumers.., and drive down OPEC price…
Canada is in a hefty position in 2011…Smackdown time?
Ezra is awesome. Imagine how great this country could be if we had a few dozen more like him.
Haven’t watched CTV or CBC for years and years.
Gotta love the free exchange of ideas in the western market place. The ethical oil people make their bid and the Saudi Princes respond with a convincing argument that their oil is not unethical… not in this western democracy. Yeah, I fought in Afghanistan to bring enlightenment to those wallies only to find my own country is no better at defending its freedoms than the Afghans… but at least they fight for it, my countrymen just roll.

Piffle.
Chris
The media elite might roll over, a large part of the sheeple will roll over to but many of us won’t and I personally appreciate what yourself and others in the military have done in our stead.
Correct if I’m wrong, but Bell Globemedia, who owns CTV, doesn’t even offer Sun News TV on it’s cable & satellite services. They practice their own brand of censorship in Canada independant of the Saudis. I’m surprised that CTV even ran the add in the first place.
po’ed in AB
I heard Ezra on Adler today and he made a good point about SLAPP suits and CTV actually making a smart business decision.
Apparantly this was a relatively small ad buy and the cost of fighting a Saudi lawsuit didn’t make economic sense.
I suggest the folks behind the ads approach the CBC about an ad buy.
Imagine the fun…
This is definitely the coolest protest issue that has emerged in North America since the ’60’s. I’m jealous of Ezra Levant — how do I get on the “enemies list” of the House of Saud and get sued by THE KINGDOM OF SAUDI ARABIA!!!
There was a recent homage to Bob Dylan in Reader Tips, and as somebody who was part of that generation and a great admirer of Dylan, I can tell you that if the young people had half the balls to rebel against the establishment that the Dylan generation did then there would be a massive world-wide protest against the repressive tyrants of Saudi Arabia.
The idea that the Saudis could stifle free speech in Canada with nary a peep from our wannabe “fashionista Ché Guevaras” with all their stylish tattoos, piercings, leather and camouflage, are as cowardly and submissive as they come.
C’mon Western youth — you have the Internet at your fingertips, you don’t even have to bother to get up off your duff and march in front of the Saudi Embassy: At least you can sit at home in the comfort of mom’s basement and flood the Internet with protest against Saudi Arabia, and use your creativity to make free speech videos against Saudi repression — embarrass them into ceasing their persecution of our Western liberal rights!
Do it for the Dylan generation.
GO EZRA GO!!!!
I just sent my letter to CTV sharing my dismay at letting money be of more importance than freedom of speech. Allowing a foreign country to dictate speech in Canada is despicable. Yes, these suits can be expensive. But I also suggested a plea for help from the gov’t and the Canadian public would have been a far better approach than their ‘cave in’.
Just another reason to leave the channel on SUNTV.
Had the Americans pulled a stunt like this, Canadians would be all over it.
This is why Ezra Levant (indeed, ALL of SUNTV) deserve the ratings.
I REITERATE…The folks behind these ads should attempt an ad buy at the CBC…tomorrow morning…early.

intr.v. pif·fled, pif·fling, pif·fles
To talk or act feebly or futilely.
n.
Foolish or futile talk or ideas; nonsense.
Really? May be I talk piffle; but I didn’t act feebly. Not over there. I came home. What have you done?
Syncro: the Suzukiites are dead set against the “tar sands” being developed. George Strombo of CBC fame sits on their Board of Directors, so I doubt that CBC would let thses guys in past the guards at the front desk.
I find unacceptable the silence of our government. Since when is it acceptable to allow foreign governments to dictate what can be aired on Canadian television.
po’ed in AB
True nuff but the point is they should try to buy air time for a pro-canadian business ad on our public broadcastor…otherwise…what do we have the CBC for?
Well Synchro, Little Mosque on the Prairie, for one. Can you imagine an ad like this playing in the same time slot? Their heads would truely explode!! LOL!
Ezra and Chris posting above, well done and thanks.
Saudi Arabia is a toilet of a country. Ezra should be Emperor of Canada.
Daniel Pipes: “…not my area of specialty, but I think one could have laws in Canada or elsewhere that establish that foreign states are not in a position to impede freedom of speech in our countries, that they don’t have legal standing to do that….”
This case is an example of the mindset here. Loony British libel-law colludes with Muslim lawfare. Bear in mind that Rachel Ehrenfeld is neither Saudi nor British but rather American.
Um, who the F*** do these savages think they are?
po’ed in AB
I think that’s the time slot…maximum effect…
Poor, poor Ezra, he gets more delusional with each passing day. Must be off his meds. It must be nice to live in Ezra’s fantacyland or perhaps not.
T! Oh, T! Where have you been? I assumed the po-po had beaten you to death after the G20 riots. I was toying with the idea of printing up “Free T Shirts (have you seen our troll?)”.
Piffle n.
Foolish or futile talk or ideas; nonsense.
Yup, used it in it’s noun form.
It describes your 7:18PM comment to a ‘T’.
Had to look it up did you Chrissy?
You came home from fighting to establish the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan for the Saudi wahabbis and the ChiCom mining interests?
bfd
As an aside T…howz yer little feetsies givien all the stompin?
It may be a small thing but the Saudi’s have built a community where men and women are equal women don’t have the strict dress code can openly walk with men and attend classes together.
Apparently one of the problems they are going to encounter integrating the women into the work force where they are needed is they can’t drive.
So I guess job one is how to change the driving laws.
Jeff – ?
Ezra should give Prince Bandar Bin Sultan a call. Former Ambassador to the US Apparently the guy is a hoot. And may get them to knock off this nonsense. He I believe doesn’t suffer fools well even though he his charming and elegant man.
Black Mamba it’s true they are trying to change it may take a couple 1000 years but they are making some kind of effort.
I guess they are feeling the heat from the West.
Remember the Saudi’s used to supply the US with 50%
of their oil and is now under 5%. Lose the US connection and all the perks disappear too such as preferred trade status and so stuff like vetting military contracts and protection disappear too.
Iraq has Kirkuk 155 billion barrels of oil almost as big as Ghawar and Kirkuk is only one of 3, 100 billion barrel fields.
So May be they are getting nervous.
Lets face it, the Chinese are no dam fun to play with compared to the Americans.
Oz
“Wouldn’t it be deliciously ironic to be able to point at the Environmentalits and Warmists and say, “Look who’s really in the pocket of Big Oil!”?”
The Tides Foundation (the major anti-oil sands funder) is already known to be funded by the Saudis…doncha know?
You can hang that on them already…go for it…I do, especially before an audience..they wilt badly…..
Isn’t what the saudi’s are doing interference in the internal affairs of Canada? Usually the leftoids in this country go ballistic when there is even the appearance of interference in Canadian affairs by the US; curious why there hasn’t been an outcry from this segment of the population. This is especially curious given that the country engaged in political interference is a 7th century dictatorship that refuses to acknowledge women’s rights.
What PMSH should be doing is have the saudi ambassador in his office tomorrow morning with a demand to butt out of Canadian affairs. If they fail to do so, we could deport the huge number of saudi “students” currently present in Canada and their pregnant wives (I think I’ve seen one saudi woman who wasn’t pregnant through my walkin practice). It’s scandalous how many residency spots are being taken up by saudi students who won’t be practicing in Canada and yet there are hundreds of foreign medical grads who are ready to repeat residencies so they can practice in Canada. I’m sure there’s money that was slated for a windmill that can be redirected to pay for foreign medical grads to do residencies.
At least Ezra has the balls to stand up to these totalitarians and his books Ethical Oil and Shakedown are going to be on my next Amazon.com order. If I watched TV, I’d boycott CTV, but I haven’t watched broadcast TV for years now. Time to figure out how to use snail mail protocols again to send some angry letters to politicians.
In Ryad Ezra gets his tongue cut out. In Canada the Saudis are reduced to having to resort to threats of lawsuits.
CTV are scum for caving to these neanderthals.
Looks like Aspervision is just another Saudi Dhimmi.
We have more than our share of censorship, what with the likes of the CRTC, CBSC & the so-called Human Rights Commission. So far only three MP’s with the gutz to stand up and defend Canada – how utterly pathetic, but it’s a start. Thankfully we now have ONE media outlet in Canada that truely is looking out for us. Thanks SunTV & Ezra.
This just in….CTV Feeds the Crocodile in Hopes it Will Eat Them Last
Not only has CTV bent over, they’ve brought the Crisco too.
Thank-you for your service in Afghanistan Chris. And I think Oz is misreading you — you are making an accurate observation from your experience, albeit uncomfortable to those who have never experienced the paradoxes of war.
agree – Oz is way off base.
