  1. This only seems fair. The left rushed to buy Alberta PC memberships during the 2006 leadership race, thereby saddling us with Red Ed.
    Libby! Libby! Libby!

  2. buying a dipper membership could be the cheapest form of entertainment , better than going to the movie “my Idiot Brother” but with similar casting .
    Libby Libby Libby

  3. The ideal candidate for the federal NDP leadership is Yoko Ono. She represents their values and she is just crazy enough to give it a go.

  4. Pat Martin has said he will run if no other candidate declares they will work to merge the NDP and LPC.
    Run Pat Run!!!
Kill two dodo parties with one stone.

  5. Libby for the NDP for sure. Am also thinking that it would be worth getting a liberal party membership so I could campaign for Ruby as leader. Imagine the cat fur that would be flying with those 2 clawing at each other.

  6. Let’s all sign up and vote for Libby.
Then we can campaign to get Affirmative Action in place for ugly anti semites.

  7. “The ideal candidate for the federal NDP leadership is Yoko Ono”
Good one. Or, for second choice, Olivia Chow. I’d love to see her hectoring voters in her barely intelligible English. She’s female, ethnic, widow of saint jack – the party wouldn’t dare criticize her.

  8. The downside to this concept is that one has to actually hand over some membership money to the NDP. That may make you feel “dirty”….actually, it SHOULD make you feel dirty….but sometimes the outcome is worth the risk.
To make this really positive, the NDP is likely to actually PAY for memberships for people to join (the Liberals do it all the time). They would perhaps get the money from the Broadbent fund that Layton wanted donations to go to. That way you can vote for some loon in the NDP (and there are plenty) AND deplete their slush fund at the same time!

  9. Since anti-Amercanism is such fundamantal component of Canaian commies – What’s old Maggie T. doing these days?
I mean, it might have been thirty years ago, but she sure scared off those Yanks by displaying her powerful arsenal…

  10. The NDP won’t accept a membership application if you have membership in another party – I won’t be relinquishing my CPC card to play silly bugger – sorry Kate. Besides we already get too much junk mail from the NDP when they target our riding.

  11. Libby has my vote as well! Yuuuuuuup! Next would be the sweet and kind Pat Martin. Next up would be the dashingingly nice Thomas Mulcair. Such sweet gentlemen…

  12. Only problem is, buying a membership means I have to give the NDP a few bucks. That would make me very queasy…

  13. I gotta go with libby, she’s the only person I’ve ever seen who makes Susan Boyle look hot..
I think we should send libby to the Gaza, so the potential suicide bombers get a gander at the virgins they are going for..

  14. How will they know if you hold a CPC membership? And even so, you can certainly donate to Libby’s campaign without being a member.
    Libby! Libby! Libby!

  15. I doubt you will need to fork over membership dues. Just like Adrian Dix’s BC NDP campaign told my wife earlier this year: “Your membership fee is covered by a large pool of money that we have”.
That is just the way the NDP rolls. No need to worry or involve Elections Canada. Those rules are only for Conservatives.

  16. PET Cemetery Report: Jack as John.
Rumours are circulating down below here that TalJack’s inspiration for his Chinatown jaunt was indeed Yoko & John’s bed-in; not the Montreal Muslim’s massacre as reported by OurCBC.
Thus the headline, More cuts to the left-liberal arts.
Mole says Jack also wanted a chance at peace.
    …-
“Yoko Ono posts bed-in video online – Arts & Entertainment – CBC …
17 Aug 2011 … Yoko Ono has posted a video online of her 1969 Montreal bed-in with John Lennon in the hope that it might inspire people to give peace a …”

  17. Libby certainly has that appeal. Repulsive and offensive, on the same scale as Lizzy May; obnoxious, perhaps more so than Jack; British accent, appealing to the older union thugs; PC along with all the leftist credentials – the perfect candidate. The trouble is, that if Bob Rae and his corpse of a Party decide to unite the left, pulling in dizzy Lizzy along with holding on to Quebec, she just might become the next PM. The Quebecois resent the ROC just enough to enjoy doing that. A thought like that is a perfect way to ruin a day!

  18. Tubby Davies is my second choice. Her strong suite is that she is identifiable as a low lifer who indulges in very poor eating habits. Too much junk food and not enough exercise.
Since the vast majority of the NDP constituency is fat and ugly and not all that healthy, Tubby Davies is the ideal candidate to lead that ship of fools. They will relate to her ….

  19. The new leader has to be female and has to represent last May’s election results. So there’s only one choice:
Bar Maid! Bar Maid! Bar Maid!

  20. I vote for the barmaid. Right after she wins we can look into how much of her tips she claimed in taxes.

  21. I’d go for either Suzuki or Svend Robinson. I won’t buy a dipper membership, though, until I see the list of nominees (unless I can become a member and nominate one of my own choices). What are the rules for nominations? As an afterthought, could I nominate Red Ed? It would be a fitting comeback after what the dippers did in Alberta.

  22. It would be good for Olivia to get the leadership. She could go around the leadership convention and say ” I mes me Jack wee-wee mudge. Peeze gi me da top job. I paw-miss to take goo care of da Pa dee.

  23. Guess a Green-Liberal-NDP merger is out of the question? Just think of the possibilities! The leadership debate would be a classic!

  24. Hawkeye says “The NDP won’t accept a membership application if you have membership in another party”. Did they make an exception for Jack’s Chosen One, Turmel
The NDP will pick up any penny they find.

  25. Why don’t the Dips stop diking around and anoint Sid Ryan as leader. The honesty would be welcome and refreshing after all the pretense of the Dippers being anything else than a extortionist-Marxist political wing of the public service unions.

  26. I think that they will sh!t the bed without our help anyway. Is there a possible leadership contender that would not be completely wacko?

  27. Have patience. Soon the Sask. election will be over and Dwaine (sp?) will be looking for a job. We in Sask. would willingly sacrifice him for the good of Canada.
I started voting in 1956 at the age of eighteen, and haver missed since. Not even once have I voted CCF, NDP or any derivatives thereof. Buy a membership?? Yeah, right.

  28. After November 7, Lingenfelter may well be job hunting unless he decides to remain on as leader of the opposition and continue his buffoonery.
However, even the federal NDP aren’t stupid enough to take this perpetual loser on as leader. On second thought … maybe they are.

    Nuff said.

  30. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/video/video-trudeau-dismisses-ndp-liberal-merger-talk/article2147412/?from=2149384
Trudeau jr. said most likly NO to merger of NDP with Liberal
who is going to be leader of NDP
    what is their options:
    1)
Olivia Chow as Jack Layton gone may be Olivia can not do what her husband continue or she is idea of Budism athesim while she may deny it burning her husband body as ash was proof she is not christian that most people in Canada not like it
she has not husband now and need to take care of her own health before it is too late as she did not take care of her husband with bad food mall nutrition lead Jack layton to cancer !!! she better slow down in politic for her good sake and she is too serious solid but laugh alot before death of her husband too kind to hanlde this job
    2)
David Miller previous Mayor of Toronto so he is good in business and nice talker but again he like hindo and sikh and athism background and fall in love that green eye Indian actors I forgot his name and he love gay too much and may turn Toronto to athesim gay pride I do not think he is going to take space
    3) Quebec NDP leader he is catholic and look and act more like Italian culture drining red win every night with food and not understand Muslim culture as Quebecqua are gone may be good to have one french guy speaking in behalf of them now
    4) Brian Topp
know body knows him in Toronto or heard their name before and nobody talk too much with Ontario NDP leader that lady I do not even know her name
    so.
best option is merge with Liberal I guess

  31. Wait a minute, there’s no need for a leadership race. Can’t Jack rule from above and speak through Olivia?

  32. To quote someone on another blog re Libby: ‘why are all the pretty ones so stupid!’
Thanks,Sammy. First Gerald Caplan at the G&M,and now you, here.
BTW,I like that photo of Libby because if you squint your eyes, just a tiny bit,it looks like Norm from “Cheers” after a particularily brutal bender.
” You know Normie,it is a little known fact that orange is a very slimming colour”

  33. Olivia is in the lead at 26% in that CBC poll and Someone Else is at 23%. Does anyone know who Someone Else is? Must be one of the new Dippers from PQ.

  34. Lloyd Robertson.
He’s now looking for a new gig, and he’s pretty good at reading the teleprompter.
    It worked for BarryO………
