Navy SEALs have secretly captured one of the most wanted terrorists in Iraq — the alleged mastermind of the murder and mutilation of four Blackwater USA security guards in Fallujah in 2004. And three of the SEALs who captured him are now facing criminal charges…

Hmm, if these were peace officers arresting a civilian law breaker I might have a “little” sympathy for the law breaker. But for a terrorist, whose sworn to bring terror to others, I find it hard to worry. Perhaps he ran into the wall and is making the claim? I put nothing past a terrorist at all.
Sad part is now, if sent on a mission, I wonder how the military will respond knowing that if the terrorist complains they were mistreated they will be believed, and not the people sent to catch them.

I think the point of the charges is that positions of authority CANNOT LIE.
The SEALS lied, and covered their actions, much like the state trooper who lied about his hat, and got sacked for it.
Just because we are used to lies and bullshit from politicians, government, and those with personal/economic interests about the issues of today, does not mean an armed militia member can lie internally.
The only rationalization here is that the sleaze they bagged had it coming. Probably.

A “head sized” sealable water proof compartment in a back pack would do the job and supply proof the job was complete. That way the SEALS could get the medals and recognition that they deserve.
I remember reading in Dick Couch’s book “Down Range”, published roughly in the time frame of Ahmed’s capture, that should capture or loss appear emminent that AQ or Taliban operatives would often resist just enough to elicit a few sharp blows and some rough handling, enough to leave marks or injuries, in part as a survival mechanism. Since if for whatever reason a detainee was released (want of intelligence or suffient evidence against them say) and they showed back up to report to their terrorist bosses, they needed to be able to show they had resisted and fought bravely.
*shrug* Dunno if thats the case here but I certainly agree putting these Seal’s on trial seems absurd.

If the last sentence in the Fox News story is accurate, Kate, I don’t think you can hang this one on Obama. Seals were apparently charged for “mistreating” detainees in 2004.
The real culprits here are those who perpetuate the mindset that has led to not investigating the 9/11 pilots, wearing gloves when handling Korans at Guantamano and recently, Major Hasan. Several thousand people have died on American soil, yet politically correct policies will likely continue.
I don’t doubt that Obama supports these practices. They just didn’t start with him.

There just may be a bright side to the sorry story about the Navy Seals. Some knowing ex-service people have opined on another web site, that once court martialed, the personnel, if found not guilty- or given a slap on the wrist, cannot stand trial in a civilian court.

This man was a chain smoker and he had just undergone 18 hrs. without a smoke – then he was trapped in the storage bin at Vancouver Airport immigration, no one called his Mom (who was there to meet him but had been told to go home. Why, I wonder?) Nobody would speak to him because the airport people were too lazy to get a translator…this man died from PC and airport apathy. Not the police, unless someone told them that this man was a chain smoker so just kill him with the taser…
