In-n-out of course was immortalized in the big lebowski.
A double-double? That’s for wimps. Here’s a 20×20:
http://20×20.ofdoom.com/pages/06.htm
In and Out is awesome, having lived in LA for a decade I can confirm that a double-double is an experience when combined with the fresh cut fries and a milkshake.
30 Minute wait in Drive thru at night. Can confirm they cater many movie events and parties.
Watching a beautiful starlet in an evening dress wolf a burger can be very hot.
That 20×20 is just gross….
Size ain’t everything.
We got a little diner hereabouts which produces a “Homeburger”….a 16 oz marvel.
I order it separate….I can fit around it confortably—-seconds are out of the question.
Licks was cool when it was that original little joint in the Beaches. I was too poor to eat there often, but sometimes I saved up.
The cool has not been transferred to Licks The Chain. Sadly, because now I don’t have to save up for a frickin’ burger.
Figures, right?
Phantom said “The cool has not been transferred to Licks The Chain.”
I used to have burger tastings at work. We would buy several of the burgers from all the food chains. Plus we would buy all the frozen burgers from all the grocery chains. We would then compare.
The “food tasters”, who really know their stuff by the way, always picked Licks as the best hamburger by any food chain. The trouble with Licks chain is they don’t train their employees very well and they beat the hell out of the burgers before they serve them. No respect for the food.
I used to peruse Arts and Letters daily back at the beginning of the ‘blogosphere’ and stopped because of the overwhelming amount of moonbattery found there.
Your style is confusing, and I’m slow.
Can you please explain in simple, concise english what your point is?
Thank you
I used to get down to LA on work and one of the highlights of every trip was chowing down on one of their burgers.
Real meat, real tomatoes, real bread, really good.
Its the flavor, not the size.
Oh, now I understand what she meant when she asked for a little of the ol’ in-and-out.
InNout Las Vegas. Animal Burger with Animal Fries and Shake. The only way to go.
They’re building one about a mile from my home, and I’ve promised the kids to take them there.
Expansion may have its advantages.
Plus, we have a few 5 Guys in the valley. That’s a good burger.
The Nick Tahou’s Garbage Plate. It’s the only way to fly.

Rochester, NY baby.
It’s been too many years since I’ve been to California but I must admit the In-N-Out was a must go to place for a quick cheap burger-N-fries. Just watching them cutting fresh fries told you you were getting some good “bad for you” food. The menu of burgers, shakes and fries certainly speeds up selection ordering.
Unfortunately, up here the pursuit of a double-double at Timmy’s is often delayed by ankle biting rug rats screaming about what kind of ice cream they want. call me a purist but ice cream doesn’t belong in a coffee shop.
TX Can:
First, when did they add ice cream at Timmy’s? Did this happen while I was in hospital? They’ve had yogurt, etc., but ice cream?
Second, the only time I’ve been to In-n-out was in Las Vegas. It was pretty good, but to call it quick? It took over 20 minutes for my daughter and I to get two burgers, two fries, and two drinks.
“First, when did they add ice cream at Timmy’s?”
One of my pet peeves with fast food now is they are all trying to diversify to much. It makes for lousy service.
There’s a saying I used to use when I managed restaurants. It’s usually right.
Service.
Selection.
Quality.
Pick the two you want. I can give you all three but you’ll go bankrupt faster.
in the in and out vein readers might want to check this book out:

Can we say Peter’s Drive-In Calgary?
I really need to visit that place again. I hear Calgary has a Cora’s now too. So if I’m gonna kill myself with a great burger, I may as well have a killer breakfast the same day.
Gluttony @ it’s best.
Indeed, there are some Timmy’s here in halifax that have put in a dairy bar, the tradename I can’t recall right now. It is one of those places where you pick your flavour of ice cream and then have a choice of stuff you can add to it. They moosh it all together on a cold marble slab then serve it in a waffle cone or bowl. At the Tim’s I visited last weekend they had taken over the sandwich bar area so your Breakfast BLT was handed to you at the other end of the counter, by the door. Someone missed Designing for Traffic Flow 101 in planning school IMHO.
At the in-N-Out I went to the counter rather than join the drive thru armada. Peter’s in Calgary was much the same, the lineup for the drive thru would wind out onto a major traffic route. I think Peter’s actually funded an extra traffic lane on the same road for leaving traffic, although that was a few years back.
Still haven’t found a good burger joint in Halifax yet.
the best burger is still what you can make yerself at home!
50% lean beef 50% ground pork patties on the bbq
home grown tomatoes
home grown lettuce
garlic pickles
ranch dressing
or a white spot classic!
Yeah, Stone Cold Creamery is the brand they are flogging at some Halifax Tim’s. As I said before, it’s not that I don’t like the ice cream but it doesn’t belong there. Actually, I’ve visited many Stone Cold or variations of that ice cream shop in the US. Of course, sitting outside eating ice cream in January is completely normal in most of Texas.
Texas Canuck, have you tried The Chickenburger in Bedford (just around the harbour)? It’s best known for its chickenburger, obviously, but I’ve heard the beef burgers are good too. Can’t say for sure, though, since I have never gone there for anything except the chickenburgers and the onion rings.
In n Out is amazing, animal anything!!! Johnny Rockets in Atlanta rocks. Locally? Bernie and the Boys Bistro in Drumheller. Outstanding!! Mammoth burger feeds a crew of 6 or one hungry teenage boy.
Not to worry about Tim Horton’s coming to the US (great one off I-91 just south of Hartford, CT, by the way). There used to be plenty of Timothy’s coffees in the days before Starbucks. I used to try to answer the trivia questions for a free 8-oz beverage.
A Junior’s “Fat Boy” from Winnipeg, a burger to die for. Smothered in chili sauce.
Off topic somewhat, but Commisso’s Bakery. Near Castlefield and Keele, Tranna.
A loaded (with green peppers and mushrooms) breaded veal-cutlet sandwich. Betcha can’t eat two!!!
Olive oil is not considered greasy….
