  1. I have a couple tunes to share tonight in this joyous Christmas season. This first tune is a simply spectacular (and overlooked) composition by Steve Miller … titled “Winter Time”

This YouTube recording brags it comes from a DCC cd … yet I was just listening to this tonight on my DCC vinyl issue of Steve Miller’s Greatest Hits … an lp engineered by Steve Hoffman in 1997 … long before the highly treasured Steve Hoffman engineered reissues that started a decade later. The sound is sublime. I love the electric sitar passage in the intro. This tune is like so many Miller songs … a multilayered sound that is techno prog, psychedelic and blues rock. This tune is simply beautiful.

My deceased son was a very talented guitarist and musician who actually contacted Steve Miller for some advice and teaching. How did he get Miller’s contact info? The father of one of my son’s friends was a very wealthy man living in our community who just happened to be a member of the Bohemian Grove. Yep. Steve Miller is a Bohemian Club member. Go figure. So they knew each other well.

Also … it’s interesting to note that Steve Miller was born and raised in Milwaukee, and his Godfather was none other than Les Paul. Yes, THAT Les Paul. Miller’s musical roots are as deep and pedigreed as anyone could imagine. And I think of what comes from Milwaukee today … and long for the 1940’s and 1950’s Milwaukee.

    1. Wow. Blast from the past Kenji! I haven’t heard this sweet tune since my eldest brother moved out of the house in 81 and took his record collection with him. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Merry Christmas!

  2. And for my next musical selection … I offer the (brief) English Prog rock band Janus and their 1972 tune Red Sun a beautifully composed prog, psychedelic, blues rock ballad that is layered and complex.

Yeah, I heard this tune on my retro-1970’s streaming high school radio station KVHS … playing all the offbeat 1970’s music … which is so utterly massive in scope that it never gets boring or repetitive … on my way to pick up some more mortar at Home Depot today. Almost done with the brick walk and entry columns. Gotta finish before my Iraqi surgeon saws off the top of my femur.

    1. The CBC has been recycling that story going back many, many months. It’s a common practice for the outfit.

    2. I’ll call BS on this.

I do several crosswords a day; Post Media, Puzzmo, VOX, Newyorker. Can’t get away from the woke in all of these. Post Media is not too bad, the others are way deep into DEI references.

Note: I don’t subscribe to or read articles in VOX or Newyorker, I just use their free crosswords. These sites are out to lunch on woke crap.

  3. I’m thinking, if I was having a final visit with my great grandchild, and all I could think to do was look at the tele. Well…
This man’s children have f•cked him over. He probably can’t show the kid anything because he has nothing left to show. He feels he’s a burden and will soon be swept under the carpet. There are two generations of family to care for him. But no. Effing ingrates. I’m sure they’d like folks to normalize ancestral homicide. The little girl doesn’t understand because they didn’t tell her the truth. They know the truth is that they are lazy selfish pieces of shit.
