A Glimpse at Canadian Hatred Towards Americans

Last night, I got a close-up view of how deeply some Canadians hate Americans. It started with a B.C. woman sharing this video with me. I told her that I hadn’t been following the story closely, but had been observing the back & forth about it between a Vancouver friend and a San Francisco friend. The latter is very based and did a deep dive into the story. She feels there is something very suspect about how the news crews covering this story seemed to always be in the right place, at the right time.

I also shared these thoughts with this B.C woman:

I am fully aware of the anti-Trump, anti-Musk, anti-American sentiment in Canada these days. You’re free to think whatever you want, of course, but I can assure from the MANY Americans friends & acquaintances I have, on both sides of the political aisle, that a strong majority of them:
1. Support the deportation of criminals who are illegally in this country.
2. Support the cleanup of corruption in the federal government.
3. Are very tired of being the world’s policeman and seemingly funding every single other country … while so many Americans are homeless.
We are clearly going through a major historical change, one that is changing the world order from what was set in place in 1945, after WW2.

She then unleashed with a tirade about how much she hates America, hates Trump, and hates Americans generally:

So this young lady had exited the USA to re-enter to renew her temporary visa. Something that goes on in most countries, not sure how that works or worked in the USA, you are probably well versed in that than I but it all seems a little radical to react that way to her… all I know is I won’t be going south while that lunatic is in power… how dare he try to Annex Canada! We have always been there friendly neighbor… I am still in disbelief that he got back in… we just have to ride this out till he is gone…

The Canadian government is telling Canadians to not cross as they can’t guarantee how they will be treated. I know my snow bird friends all left Arizona for fear of what was coming down… people that would leave their RVs there year round pulled them out and brought them home… Arizona is already an openly gun toting state with their giant Trump flags… we were stunned when we were down there 2 years ago.

I just hope all those lovely people that you know in SF are ok because a lot are Latino and the Republican turd is definitely targeting the minority population…

There is a lot of government waste but it is usually very top heavy no joe blow worker…

I can speak from my own experience working for Island Health, it is very top heavy…

All I know is that here in Canada people are really pissed off and are opting out of all things American.

I thought about responding that someone who so deeply loathes everything about America, clearly should never, ever visit. But I’m tired of stating the obvious.

  1. The video suggests there is more to the story than is being reported (as usual). Anyone have a link?

    1. in a vaguely related but old story, a Canadian woman was arrested in Alabama for having and using an *valid Ontario* driver’s license.

  2. I am an anomaly in that I support all of the items on President Trump’s agenda. Just read about a woman who claimed sanctuary in a Denver church, who was arrested by ICE while on her break working at Target. She has been in the United States illegally since 1997 ( 28 years ago). Why has she NEVER regularized her status during that time when it was mostly Democrat administrations in office? Now her family from outside the States are all up in arms because she is to be deported. I am so tired of lazy, stupid, incompetent people who think that they are “special”.
As a lover of history and geography, I DO agree that we are living in a world of major change. It will only be 10 years from now (I will probably be dead!) that people will be able to connect the dots.

    1. This woman, like many, many others, is being needlessly prosecuted for what is essentially a victimless crime. She was gainfully employed. Whose rights did she violate by living and working in the US? Why go to the expense of deporting productive workers? The war on immigration has about the same chances of success as the war on drugs. We’ve been grinding away at both wars for 50 years with little to show for it.

      1. Canada for decades will not allow an American pass into or through if he has a DUI (A victimless crime.) on his record. Whose rights would he violate by spending time in or passing through Canada and spending money there?

      2. In order to work, you need to fill out a W-2 and 1099 tax forms; unless you’re working as a private contractor.
So, said woman would need to have the appropriate paperwork (for a foreigner, the correct work visa; for a citizen a SS# would be needed).
As an illegal, she would be providing false documents, which means she was likely working with a stolen SS#, which means she was engaging in fraud and likely using the same to get benefits and tax deductions.

Hardly a ‘victimless crime’, and that is before we get into, victimless or not, the legality of entering a country illegally and staying in that condition…plus just the audacity of feeling as though one is entitled to this.

        1. As for this Canadian woman, she knew the law, and decided she was above it. She found out she was not, simple as. To be honest, she was treated too kindly.
Considering the number of incidents that have happened regarding terrorists/anti-social types crossing our border that wind up having connections to Canada, it is not unreasonable to check anyone coming in from Canada or anybody from Canada coming in from another country.
And quite honestly, we don’t care if it hurts Canadians’ tender sensibilities; we have long seen what you are comfortable with.

        2. Know what else she’s been doing? Evading the apparently dismal effects of the Canadian medical system while quite possibly fraudulently leeching the benefits of tbe American system] she’s too good to pay for. plus she’s probably been siphoning off social benefits reserved for citizens. I don’t doubt this theft of benefits accounts for the curiously non-informative nature of the story coverage.

        1. Because driving is a privilege, not a right. A privilege that government can revoke if they feel it necessary. Just like residing and working in the US as a non-citizen is a privilege, not a right. A privilege that government can revoke if they feel it necessary.
(Yes, I know, Orson, that you were asking a rhetorical question, but I felt it necessary to point out the irrationality of their argument by pointing out the rationality of yours.)

      3. Why, Dennis?
She broke the law. Time doesnt erase that.
If she murdered someone 28 years ago, is that just ignored because “28 years ago”?
She broke the law and has wilfully evaded and played the pity game.
        FAFO.

      4. Dennis, I can be arrested and jailed for owning the wrong type of firearm, a completely victimless crime. Whose rights have I violated?

        1. in your feeble mind there should be no borders no restrictions on immigration. the whole world is your oyster

      5. in your feeble mind there should be no borders no restrictions on immigration. the whole world is your oyster

      6. In a country illegally and working illegally is a crime.
It’s not victimless either, that illegal is taking a job from a citizen.
The employer wants the illegal because it give’s them power over them as they have no rights.

    2. JMM – she stole a job from a US citizen. She did not commit a victimless crime.

Or, maybe, crimes against Americans are unimportant to you?

      Typical Canadian viewpoint!

    1. Also,
she most likely was remitting money back to her “out-of-country family” so that is why they are “up in arms” about her deportation.

      1. So? If someone is gainfully employed it’s their choice as to how they spend their money.

        1. Applies to a bank robber too, right? Why should HIS/HER family suffer from a crime they didn’t commit, so they should be entitled to the stolen loot, right?

        2. I challenge the premise of someone being “gainfully employed” if they are residing in the country illegally.

She was simply employed. “gainfully” is a matter of interpretation.

        3. Really, Dennis? She is “ earning “ her money from a crime she committed. All money earned from crime is subject to forfeiture.

    2. This.

From what I’ve read: she applied for a visa, got denied, then got told to re-apply at a US consulate from within Canada. Instead, little miss special goes to Mexico and attempts to enter the US from there, so US CBP sees a foreign national attempting to enter the USA from a country not her own who’s already been denied a visa at least once and failed to follow instructions about how to re-apply properly.

They can’t just turn her around and send her back to Mexico because she’s not Mexican, so yeah, she gets detained/arrested. D’uh. She’ll be lucky if she doesn’t get a permanent ban out of this.

Now, she may have been treated like crap in detainment and that wouldn’t be OK, but that’s something of a separate issue from “I played a stupid game with US CBP and won a stupid prize.”

    3. Exactly. But, of course, sob stories sell, heaven forbid that GlowBull provide all the details here.
      Details are important.
I pursued career opportunities in the early 90s in Washington state, and became familiar with the visa/crossing processes. This is very important. As part of my interviews, I had to inform the potential employer of the visas that were possible, the TN and the H1B. The TN was the better option as their only obligation was a job offer letter.
Anyways, one of the very important bits of advice regarding the TN visa, or, any crossing of the border, is that if the US Customs service decides, for any reason to deny and turn you back, you cannot come back for 1 year, possibly 5 years or more. So, don’t FCK around.
This wench ignored what she was likely told the first attempt to cross from Canada.
Someone gave her bad advice to try and cross from Mexico. Besides, the TN visa slso appears to be the wrong visa for what she wanted. If she had a business in US, she should have applied at the time for the correct visa.
She changed the terms that her visa was valid for.
So, she lied, lied again, then ignored border rules.
Have no sympathy for her. Glowbull is just a lying propaganda service. Yellow journalism.

  3. I grew up in a household where you were basically not allowed to sh*t on Americans (or Jews), else one would receive a stern tongue-lashing from my mother, so all this recent “elbows out”/“Yanqui go home!” B.S. disgusts and embarrasses me. Vomitis.

The comedian Jon Stewart once spoke about his being buttonholed by a Canadian who kept asking him – and I can TOTALLY see this happening – “what do Americans really think of Canadians?”, “what do Americans really think of Canadians?” ad nauseum. An exasperated Stewart finally answered, “we don’t.”

Any “bonne entente” between Canadian and US would only survive as long as no influential American leader cared about what Canada did or took notice of Canada said, and most Americans, if they thought of their northern neighbours at all, considered them – to quote Jane and Michael Stern – “well-meaning clods.”

I’ve repeatedly said that once any influential American leader DID take notice of what resentful, preeningly-obnoxious, passive-aggressive, two-faced, free-riding a**holes many Canadians are, and what a, if not a deeply-subversive and immoral, then certainly a deeply ANTI-AMERICAN edifice that Canadian Liberalism is attempting to construct up here, that this bonne entente was bound to dissolve

    And it has.

    1. “resentful, preeningly-obnoxious, passive-aggressive, two-faced, free-riding a**holes many Canadians are”

That pretty much sums up my fellow Canadians. Although you left out: sheep-like.

After the whole Covid zombie mass psychosis thing I gave up on what’s left of my country.

      1. You even gave up on the Truckers and Freedom Convoy?

On Peterson and Saad? Janice Fiamengo? The Fraser Institute? The Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms? The C2C Journal? Small Dead Animals?

        I could go on…

        1. Feels like we’re just voices in the wilderness sometimes, screaming at a wall, for all the good it seems to do.

          1. Virtually all Canadians who can affort it have a second (or third) house in a warmer climate, not infrequently the US. Your point?

          2. My point is: many Canadians who value their freedom (especially the freedom of speech, which apparently makes them pro-Trump/pro-American) have already moved or are planning on moving to the U.S. Their own country views them as enemies. Can they be considered Canadian if their own country disowns them?

          3. Yes.

            Expand your mind, unknown jane

In America, which celebrates its Rebel Tradition, you can be against The State and The Populace aka Sheeple and still think of yourself as a patriotic “true-blue” American, indeed you can even insist you’re more patriotic. I suspect there is a similar sentiment in say, Australia

There is no reason why Canadians can celebrate their similar Rebel Traditions. Our collective mythology just hasn’t emphasized this (yet) and we can debate why.

FYI: Although generally loathe the writing of the Grope & Fail’s Doug Saunders, he – the broken clock analogy – makes a good point in his piece “My Ancestors and the Worst Thing That has ever Happened to this Country”. Check it out if you have a G&M paywall (hint: blame the Scottish): https://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/my-ancestors-and-the-worst-thing-that-has-ever-happened-to-this-country/article4285769/

          4. Ever notice that when things are ‘bad’ in the US (Trump) and folks are going on about moving to Canada….not one X-pat Canadian, and the list is long, ever….I mean never ever talk about returning to Canada
What is it that they know, that the others have not learned?

          5. By becoming the 51st State, Canadians would gain something very important we don’t have now. Rights!
Our vaunted Charter is not worth the papers it’s written on. The very first line say the rights described can be revoked.
You cannot revoke rights, you can only revoke privileges.
A solid 1st and 2nd Amendments would be valuable.

          6. Since I can’t reply further, I’ll will point out that Peterson was threatened with ‘social media training and re-education’ or risk losing his license in Canada. He does not risk that here, especially with the Trump administration.
It came very close here in the U.S., but there was a greater backlash, hence Trump (and not just him but the electorate pulling GOP across the board — this should be viewed more as a social trend).

    2. “I’ve repeatedly said that once any influential American leader DID take notice of what resentful, preeningly-obnoxious, passive-aggressive, two-faced, free-riding a**holes many Canadians are, and what a, if not a deeply-subversive and immoral, then certainly a deeply ANTI-AMERICAN edifice that Canadian Liberalism is attempting to construct up here, that this bonne entente was bound to dissolve”

This needs to be a pinned comment. Maybe have it permanently in the sidebar.

    3. What kind of people do you associate with? Sure there are people like those you describe in Canada (they exist in every society) but I don’t see them everywhere. The folks I run into are hard working. Care about their family. Mind their business and pay their taxes. Most haven’t got time to spend hours everyday thinking about politics.

Oh and Jordan Petersen, The Fraser institute etc and SDA don’t belong in the same sentence.

    4. You could add “sanctimonious back-stabbers” to the “Canadian” identity.

    5. I think Canadians can hate Americans if they want. I am a dual citizen, I hate most Canadians, half of me being a notable exception. Actually hate is the wrong word, sub in “am disgusted by”

  4. I believe this unhinged insanity is the brain child of the Liberal Party who is using it as the election platform of Team Canada vs Orange Man Bad. TDS is being sold as the new Covid fear porn and the Sheeple are blindly jumping onboard. Karen’s are accosting shoppers at Sobey’s for buying US fruit and veges. Many people are tossing their Ukrainian Flag from their social media and replacing it with the Red Liberal Flag. It’s the new Plandemic and the whole thing is absolutely moronic. There is zero chance that Canada can win a trade war with the US. Just gaining the 1st and 2nd amendment is enough for me to support a move to the 51st State and a seriously aggressive dose of DOGE and some common sense would be a bonus.

    1. OF COURSE it is! It is 100% a Liberal psy-op. I think it is so obvious that it barely needs mentioning but perhaps I am wrong. Are people really THAT stooopid?

      1. And let’s not forget,,, the Canadian Media want their handouts of taxpayer money, to continue.
Slanting the news to garner favor with their political cousins, is nothing new.

        1. Of course – OF COURSE – they do.

And not just the MSM. What about our much-vaunted “National Champions” – i.e., those taxpayer-fleecing, subsidy-sucking “capitalist” purveyors of Canadian air travel, telecom and financial services?” All wrapping themselves sanctimoniously in the flag and crying – all tears and flapdooble – “shop Canadian” while picking our pockets

      2. “Are people really THAT stooopid?”

My wife & I discuss(ed) this topic and have long since decided that the vast majority are far more stooopid than that.

      3. Yes, a majority of Canadians are that stupid.

The number of us who vote Liberal, NDP, Bloc and Green is astonishing.

I hope the younger ones are wising up. They seem to be figuring out that they’ll get stuck with the bill.

          1. Not so, they have gotten out of school, gotten jobs and figured out they are screwed. No love for the Libranos or the Turd.

      4. E S
        “Are people really THAT stooopid?”
It’s even worst than that, they are emotionally driven ASSHOLES with out a clue as to real facts, and without self awareness.
As I’v posted before, when the emotional area of the brain is active, it suppresses or shuts down the frontal lobe, were reason and logic are processed. There are a few posters in here that exemplify that effect.

      5. The disdain for Americans that has been thinly veied for many decades is now on full display.

        1. Who are you kidding? It was NEVER that thinly-veiled.
For virtually ANY Canadian politically to the left of the Blue Liberals (assuming any still exist), it was/is THE sine qua non of their much-touted “Canadian identity.”

      6. “OF COURSE it is! It is 100% a Liberal psy-op. I think it is so obvious that it barely needs mentioning but perhaps I am wrong. Are people really THAT stooopid?”

Not here on SDA, so much…although we do have a couple or three resident trolls (who shall remain nameless) who probably need to be reminded occasionally that not everyone is as gullible as they are.

    2. Nicely summarized GRM

And there is far more to the story of the ICE detention of this woman. Why? Because nowhere in the video does she explain the reason she was detained. Failure to renew her Visa? Unlikely. I travel across the borders and NEWSFLASH every nation is using facial recognition software among a host of other metrics to verify identity. There’s something missing from this story. I suspect a LOT missing from this story.

And PS … I cannot work in Canada. No way. I’d be tossed out of your country, after being arrested … speaking of equitable things such as tariffs.

      https://www.cicnews.com/2022/06/how-americans-can-work-in-canada-0626793.html#gs.l2cb1g

Imagine that … It seems the Canadian government doesn’t want me TAKING Canadian jobs away from Canadian citizens. But I will only be “doing the jobs that Canadians just won’t do” … right John McCain?

      1. Yeah, yeah, you’re right … there’s NO WAY I would move to Canada just to get paid in your wimpy plastic partial dollars.

Sayyyyy … how many sea turtles are choking to death on your plastic dollars? Gotta be as many as choke to death on plastic straws … ? Ohhhhh … sorry … it’s the Canadian PEOPLE who are choking to death on your partial bucks.

        1. I can guarantee that I hate Canuckistan more than that woman that Robert is talking about hates America.
          How can I guarantee that?
Because there’s absolutely MORE TO HATE here in this country. That has absolutely been demonstrated rather eloquently over the past 5 years, but my hate has been growing longer than that.
My hate started in 2016, and even with that, I was not much a fan of the country long before then. It’s just that in those painful five years, my hate blossomed into a full-grown, disgusted, loathing.

          1. PS … our FED just decided to keep interest rates where they are … which means our dollar will only get stronger against your countries devalued dollar as your central Bank rolls back to 0% interest rates.

  5. I have no problem with Americans, having traveled fairly extensively through the country over the years. Americans like Canadians. Of course, if you live through Tik Tok or Instagram, both countries are at war.

What I find hilarious with regard to the deportation of illegals back to El Salvador is (mostly) Democrats defending rapists, murderers, child abusers, thieves and drug peddlers as not having been given due process while simultaneously condemning Conner Macgregor’s visit to the White House as a “convicted rapist” even though he has never been convicted on a criminal charge.

  6. We’re rethinking our travel plans to the US that was supposed to happen in June…and I’m pro-american. We were going to drive down to visit Oklahoma and Texas for 2-3 weeks to visit my American husband’s relatives, his parent’s childhood home in Oklahoma and to take care of a family obligation. Then drive to Texas to visit my brother’s family (dual citizens).

Never thought I’d think the US was unsafe for Canadians but this trade war could turn really ugly with Liberal election rhetoric and MAGA extremists. Driving around the southern US with Sask. plates might not be advisable. Anti-American and anti-Canadian sentiment both seem to be accelerating. The other more likely choice is to fly in, rent a car, stay a few days in Oklahoma and fly home…or not go at all. Before now, it’s never ever crossed my mind that the US is not a Canadian friendly country.

    1. Pussy.

      LC-See above statement:
      “resentful, preeningly-obnoxious, passive-aggressive, two-faced, free-riding a**holes many Canadians are”

    2. The only Americans who pay any attention to Canada are ones like yours with dual citizenship ( and maybe hardcore hockey folks). I never paid attention to Canada until my daughter married one and moved there.I have no idea where you are getting the idea that Americans would be hostile towards you for traveling in the US.It wouldn’t even make sense since I thought all the harms were against Canada. But if you are afraid, don’t come.

    3. I know a lot of lovely Americans and most are Republican. Unfortunate how both Canadians and Americans have become increasingly antagonistic and obnoxious. Also unfortunate how the most toxic people have the loudest voices. I remember the years when SDA had more interesting poster than it had shit posters. Too bad the most interesting, thoughtful ones were chased off by the others.

      Have a great day.

      1. Its always interesting what Canadians think Americans are doing or feeling. Ive been hearing this canard recently about how Americans are hostile to Canadians, yet anyone thats been the US recently will tell you its all fine, and essentially Americans dont pay any more attention to Canada than usual. This “tariff war” doesnt rank. (I was in the US for the November election and people kept asking me if I was worried about riots. I explained over and over that the only riots would be if Trump won and then only in a few coastal parks, but people generally thought there would be severe violence).

      2. Okay LC Bennett, I should be hard at work but I’ll bite.

Why are you being “chased off” (your words)? Why do you conflate people advocating for a muscular, expansive, pro-free-speech, pro-market, pro-free enterprise, pro-national security, pro-Western, pro-American version Canada – and its citizens (of which I assume you are one) – of conducting themselves as if they were proud, upstanding members of such a polity – with being “antagonistic”, “obnoxious”, “loud” and “toxic” (again, all your words)? Please expatiate.

And I’d like to think I have made more thoughtful, insightful comments here than your basic, garden-variety sh*tposter, but I will leave that determination to others.

        Good day, good sir

        1. I think you’ve made incorrect assumptions about my thoughts and feelings regarding the US. Then written your angry posts directed at me based on those incorrect assumptions. At no point did you attempt to investigate my actual thoughts. Instead you went straight into attack mode. That’s not unusual, btw, it’s standard behaviour in the social media environment. It’s just not a behaviour I’m particularly fond of because I know most people do not act like this in real life.

BTW, I’m also not a “sir”. Another incorrect assumption but that’s not a malicious mistake.

          1. Go ahead and visit Oklahoma and then Texas. I’ve been to both states and the people are excellent. Truth is, Americans don’t think much about Canada. Many of the people I met didn’t know where Toronto was (in Oregon and California) or had never heard of Calgary (Texas and Oklahoma). Americans are incredibly ignorant of geography with many never having traveled outside their state.

But be prepared when you come back to Canada and open your credit card bill. All purchases will be 40% higher than you anticipated.

          2. Jeez, LC, have you been glued to the TV MSM?
You do realize, they are pros at manipulation and nudging.
And, you deflected Strauss’ questions. That’s a tell.
The fear is unfounded. This barely registers on American news, well down the list.
And, most importantly, it’s not a ‘war’, it’s a trade dispute. One that will be resolved and that Canada cannot win. The longer the dolts in Ottawa (blue or red) delay any deal, the worse things will get for the economy (the working class). The wealthy, poor and retired will just carry on.

          3. DanBC – There’s no point replying to toxic personality types like Strauss. Having worked with people who obviously had BPD (borderline personality disorders), it’s not difficult to pick them out.

Keeping aware of current events and understanding history, psychology and propaganda techniques is necessary. Covid is the nearest example that proves the point about how quickly seemingly rational people can turn feral.

          4. If you are aware of propaganda methods, then you should recognize the HATE AMERICA, tEaM cAnAdUH nonsense underway. Seems that you’re allowing yourself to be drawn in. If not, whatever. Avoid the US forever. FYI, Mexico is not safe and neither is Europe. I’m hearing this suggestion by other Hate America©️ participants.
Check all those labels before you buy it, gotta teach the Bad Orangeman a lesson!

          5. @LC:
Respectfully, I will disagree with your assessment of Americans’ hostility toward Canadians. I haven’t crossed the border myself while I was living in SK, but I know people who crossed into Montana, and really, nothing has changed. (mind you, I moved to AB before the trade war broke out, but my general impression of Americans is that they are indifferent to Canadians.) If anything, they’re friendly towards Canadians as they are generally friendly to everyone regardless where they came from.
I would imagine the same can be said of any border state with Canada. I can’t speak of the states further south, but I trust other posters here who speak well of their American compatriots, and I wouldn’t at all hesitate to venture there with my Canadian plates.

          6. LC … I’ve always liked your posts, and have never considered you a shit poster. I only hope you don’t simply label anyone and everyone who disagrees with you to be a shit poster … but I am fully aware many here consider me a shit poster … and worse. Meh.

Now don’t go making me believe you’re simply an emotional female poster … and not a circumspective intelligent one.

      3. LC

        I live in WA state.
When I go shopping at many of our stores in our area, and notice (many) Canada plates.
Yet I see no one looking to pick a fight.

My only issue. Please slow down on I-5 freeway. 85mph is a tad to fast.

        1. Please! Do NOT drive I-5 into CA if you’re gonna drive that slow. I JUST drove from SF to LA and probably “averaged” 85 mph … with stretches significantly faster. BTW … I started out at 4am.

And here in the States PLEASE observe the “basic speed law”. What’s that you ask? “Slower traffic keep right”. Period. Regardless of the posted speed limit. Why? Because organizing speeds is … SAFE!

    4. Feel free to travel about the country. No one in the US cares in the slightest where our tourists come from.

The ones who even know we are in a trade war with Canada consider it a nuisance. The ones who disapprove think it’s like kicking a kitten. Why? That seems mean.

Just don’t drive a Tesla as the party of mostly peaceful protesting are currently torching them even if the owner is Canadian whose side they are on in the trade wars.

      1. I think what we learned during covid is that politicians and other malevolent entities can rather quickly foment hatred. The majority of people are susceptible to propaganda and manipulation techniques. I suspect Canadian Liberal politicians and the Canadian media will ramp up those techniques during an election period to gain votes. Then you get the reaction from American politicians and their media. Could escalate and reach critical mass very quickly without political restraint and basic diplomacy. My concern about travelling is not irrational, unfounded fear but simply observation of events during the covid era and the power of propaganda. Things learned about in history and psychology became very real.

Anyway, we’re keeping our options open. Watch and wait to see how events unfold.

        1. LC, the Liberals are always in election mode.
They’ve already ramped up the FearMongering. It works on certain voters.
You are vastly overstating things. Sincerely, the Americans don’t care. These things don’t register. It’s a trade dispute. It’s a war only in the minds of the manipulated and the manipulators. So, I suggest you relax, go, and ENJOY YOURSELF.
AND STOP WATCHING MSM. They poison your mind.
We were in Honolulu for 3 weeks in January. Politically it was uneventful. Good times.
We’re returning soon for another 2 weeks there, an Alaska cruise in May, and off to Florida in November.
Remember, the loudest voice isn’t the smartest voice. The media employs propaganda by repetition. This is the MSM today.
I know you’re smarter than this. Don’t be captured by the voices of MSM and radio who are not your friends, are not the authority on anything, and are dependent on Fear Mongering/Controversy for clicks and ratings.

        2. LC, my wife and kids are in Vegas at the moment. Wife was anxious about the trip, stating many of the fears you have conveyed. I explained the Americans #1 are friendly as we have found on numerous trips. Have met Americans on vacation in sunny climes such as Jamaica, Mexico, etc. #2 they give not a thought to Canadians. She is on day 4 and having a wonderful time. Unfounded worry has been allayed.

    5. I believe you’d find things to be much more likely to happen to tourists coming the other way- Canadians have shown repeatedly they’ll destroy property of those they disagree with and feel have no right to be where they are. Only when nobody is looking of course, we are talking about cowards here.

      1. So true. Canuckistan is a “left-leaning” country (aka full-blown communist). The left will think nothing of employing terrorist tactics to get their point across (Case in point: Antifa), and we have plenty of those nut-jobs here in Canuckistan. Heck, even in Alberta, the wackos on CTV “News” is talking about how more Albertans will vote liberal this time around because of OrangeManBad, and the trade “war.”
Heck, we have nut jobs in government. (Case in point: The NDP, and Charlie Angus)
These people are totally detached from reality. They have no respect for “the golden rule.” They have no introspection, and no sense of responsibility. They will not hesitate to react emotionally and violently if it they think it will advance their agenda and achieve their objectives.
I have more to fear in this country than I would if I were living in America. The rampant crime was a product of the left who had control of the government. That control is being taken away, thanks to the current administration.

    6. You’re sure it’s not the terrible exchange rate?

And nobody has a problem with Saskatchewan.

      1. If your budget is stretched, I think that the exchange rate would certainly be a deterrent. That’s not a big issue for us and we keep a small stash of US and Mexican currency for travelling. Valid issue though as one reason for a drop in US visits by Canadians.

        1. Air travel is only down by 2% according to latest numbers, though land crossings down by 25%.
Exchange rate has been bad for several years. The difference between 72 cents last fall and 69 is negligible in the big picture. Air travel proves that.
What IS different today is the actions of CBSA. Every traveller who bought anything is being assessed all taxes and duties on any food/goods they bought. CBSA would just waive them thru, previous to HateAmerica©️, if you spent <$100. Now, everyone pays at least +25%, up to 40% more if all taxes apply.
That’s what’s causing the drop in crossings. They’re even trying to tap gas fill ups on the sheeple.
Every issue, that is topical on the MSM, is never explained. The devil is in the details, but their viewers have the attention span of gnats.

    7. Your fear is totally unfunded. I can hardly believe you’re saying that. You’re seeing the world)/U.S. through your idiot countrynen and -women who have no clue about what the U S. and Americans are like. Shouldn’t you know better? A LOT better?

    8. I was just in Phoenix a few weeks ago and many Americans we met were apologizing for Trump. We, of course, tried to defend him in a polite way. You’re brainwashing shows and many Americans are happy to have the business of tourism so as LC Bennet says “grow a pair”.

    9. LC, you’re usually pretty thoughtful and insightful, unless a poser is using your name.

The Americans DONT CARE! Go ahead, drive down, there is no issue. This is the narrative that America hating LiberalDP pipples are trying to create. It’s not real it’s stupidity. As for the snowbirds leaving early, whatever. They’re addicted to MSM Fear Porn. Covid PsyOp v2.0

That’s the key to understand here, pretty much everything that’s happening is MSM FEAR PORN.
Government controlling the masses via their Payola Media employees.

I thought you were smarter LC.

      1. I will refer to my 11:03 reply to Just Lily.

My concerns are more about possible escalation during a Canadian election period. The timing for our planned trip is not ideal. Our family obligations that require this trip may not allow for a delay but the type of trip and length of the trip might need to be altered.

“I thought you were smarter LC.”

Sheesh, can no one reply to a post without an aggressive or passive-aggressive insult anymore.

        1. Again, you’ve allowed yourself to be trapped by propaganda. And yes, through previous convos with you, you’ve been insightful, so yes, I do believe you are better than that.
I will repeat, your fears are unfounded. The Americans don’t care, this country is an afterthought in their minds.
Their enemies are within, and being dealt with there.
Now, if someone wants to go down there and rub it in their faces, all bets are off. Those people will earn their fate.
Swear to God, don’t be captured by the BS Fear Mongering garbage in this country.
It’s Covid PsyOp v2.0 “WE’RE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER!” should have been the first clue.

        2. LC. I have a sister in Texas, and one in Massachusetts, and i am a part time resident of Florida. When I am talking to my sisters, they often ask me what is happening in Canada. They are both educated professionals. It just doesn’t rise to MSM, or newspapers or radio. Three quarters of Americans will not even know there is an election on at all when it happens.

        3. The only escalation in an election will be on the part of the Liberals. They will incite anti-American hatred to obscene levels. No one in the United States will notice. No one is inciting hatred of Canada in the US, and there is no natural hatred. I can certainly understand Americans reluctant to visit Canada, but the other way round is just silly.

          1. Of course, you must realize that, however friendly or indifferent, they are nonetheless Americans, and you may not be prepared for the toxic shock. You may not be able to control your conditioning.

    10. Perhaps you should put some strategically placed American flag patches on your things? I’ve heard that is a foolproof method of showing you’re on the “good guys”.

It’s highly unlikely that you will get too much grief; unless of course, as I’ve said before, your country does something truly stupid.

      1. And I will qualify this by saying a trade war, assaulting our booze, or booing our anthem nor saying mean things about our President isn’t ‘something truly stupid’.
Something truly stupid would have to be magnitudes worse; not likely although unfortunately given your government not improbable.
As it stands you would likely get fawning from leftist Americans and the rest will ignore you.

      2. Is your subtext that displaying the American flag is now equal to flying the Confederate Stars and Bars? Tell me that’s not what you’re saying …

        1. I am alluding to the worn out story of Canadians plastering their backpacks with Canadian flags while overseas to make sure the natives don’t mistake them for us evil Americans.
Perhaps now putting an American flag on one’s things whilst in America will assuage the natives that one is not one of those evil Canadians?

    11. LC Stop watching the CBC. I have never been treated anyhow other than kindly by Americans.

    12. “Driving around the southern US with Sask. plates might not be advisable. Anti-American and anti-Canadian sentiment both seem to be accelerating.”

Watching all those Telsas get vandalized makes me think that you might not be wrong about that. Paint jobs are expensive, and hardcore TDS-suffering Democrats are nutjobs…

    13. “MAGA extremists”
LOL, should have read this more closely.
God fearing, fun loving, law abiding, hard working Americans.
      Ok, you’re captured.

    14. LC. I live in Oklahoma. I am one that will wave on the highway and introduce myself if we are where we can. I like seeing cars or trucks with your kind of license plates. I served in West Germany near a Canadian Air Force base. There was a lot of friendships and social exchange. My wife and I have cruised to Alaska twice and both times loved to meet Canadians and visit. I am truly sorry I can’t speak for all, but you are welcome in my town and state. We peoples have been friends too long for this dustup to go on for very long or be permanent.

    15. There are no ‘MAGA extremists’.

No one down here thinks about Canada enough to hate Canadians. Just be cool and you’ll be fine.

    16. LC, I’m MAGA, and I promise you the only thing we feel for Canadians is sorry for them. MAGA will hug you, and the Dems think you are awesome, there is no anti-Canadian sentiment. Truth be told, in all cases though, you are far from top of mind.

    17. I’m a snowbird currently in Florida…..I engage many Americans….there is no hostility towards this Canadian. As a matter of fact those I engage are usally curious about how the tariffs are affecting myself and other Canadians, others have no opinion and could care less.
Stop worrying about what you think others are thinking about you….cause they probably not thinking about you at all.
Go on your trip, visit your family, enjoy yourself, Americans think Canadians are fine.
When you do post back on how it’s going….eh.

    18. You know how ridiculous that sounds.
MAGA extremists!! Really, that’s just plain silly, buying into the propaganda.
The extremists are the flailing Democrats.
Most American could care less about Canada.

Go, I just had friends come back from Texas for a month, had a great time.

    19. I don’t know where you’re planning to visit, exactly, but you’d be welcome in Virginia. We like visitors, even tour buses. Some of us even like Joni Mitchell.

I don’t think even most MAGA types take Trump’s macho posturing to heart. It’s sort of a microcosm of Trump’s style: In a hotel he built, somebody failed to order the more expensive Braille-enhanced wall signs for the elevators. This was called to DT’s attention. DT said, “People staying in my hotel don’t have disabilities!” While people were screaming how awful that thought was, DT’s staff quietly installed Braille-enhanced wall signs.

  7. I love America … I love everything about it. We share culture, language and a lot of history.
America has been good to Canada over the years. Can you imagine if it were China next door?
Canada is rapidly become a 3rd world gulag run by bilingual idiots.

        1. More than likely, it’s confirmed. This was two years ago. USIntelligence is very aware of the Chicom Vassal State operating on the North border. If the Blinken Biden regime was concerned about this, you know the TRUMP admin is all over it.
Fentanyl and Chicom infiltration is the root of all this. The lack of any serious, ongoing pursuit and retention of bad guys, speaks volumes of the corruption at this country’s law enforcement.
          https://www.thebureau.news/p/blinkens-warning-two-years-ago-us

  8. Their hatred covers WAY more than Americans but in Canada that particular hatred, the shortman syndrome towards Americans, has been kept alive for generations by our educators, gubmint and retched idiotic msm in case it ever required an ember to be fanned.
The America hating, TDS afflicted did it to themselves, they weren’t smart enough to resist having some untested shit injected into their own or their babies arms because their TV was scaring them. When I start to feel sorry for them, I remind myself these same neighbours would have sat by and watched us be sent to quarantine prisons and eventually ovens if it wasn’t for the truckers, who they also hate. Once they give into their hate there’s no arguing with them.
Liberals are violent, retarded freedom hating fascists.

  9. For the above woman in Robert’s posting who said “we’ll just have to ride this out till he’s gone…”

Vice President J.D. Vance has the inside track to be the next President. He’s doing well in his new role, enjoys the idea of small government by and for the people, this isn’t going to be over in 3.6 years, it’s going to be 11.6 years of glorious GOP politics. Perhaps if being over governed in all aspects of your life is what you’d prefer, then the UK, especially the land of the Scots, and parts of Europe (but avoid Poland and Hungary at all costs) is your thing. This isn’t going to be over anytime soon.

    1. The Democrats have a 29% approval rating. TheDem’s went ALL IN on DEI, LGBTQueerdom , spent and stole taxpayer money like a Thief in the Night and drove the average American into the poorhouse.

That’s a very large hill to climb. The Dem’s have all but murdered the American Dream … and the young have two choices … own nothing and be owned by the State … or fix it, with Trump’s and MAGA’s help.

    2. To date few Canadians, maybe none,
have been impacted financially by these tariffs
which are to be implemented April 2nd.

Meanwhile Trudeau’s counter tariffs on American imports
were enacted immediately and are raising costs for Canadians,
thus Trump need never implement his tariffs,
      the threat is sufficient.

Canadians have been conditioned to follow.
This is a self-preservation tactic, and it governs their actions:
they’re trained not to question authority.

With this mindset they’re liberated from responsibility,
which is willingly delegated to, and eagerly accepted by,
the government, who manipulate them for this purpose.

Angry Canucks have been told to be angry,
become yet angrier when confronted with a coherent argument,
because they have no time or experience
      thinking for themselves.

The future of Canada is not merely in doubt,
it does not, cannot, exist for a people
who look up only to their government.

The future of The West looks bright.

      1. ADD, last weekend at the wifes 60th b-day party a long time friend went on an unhinged rant about the US POTUS. While he has always despised the US in some ways ( gun toting bible thumping red-necks) watching our lame stream media has him in a fit. TV has him convinced that DJT is a vengeful, whackadoodle, that all that surround him in his cabinet are mental midgets and should be dealt with. He claims he will never set foot in the US until 47 is gone or Dead.
A friend of 40+ years, now someone to distance from. What a shame.

    3. Vance is an excellent speaker, has a brain, is still young and is reasonably photogenic. The Democrats have nobody. Trump’s selection of Vance for VP is astute and a major gift to the GOP.

  10. “Inciting a riot” remains a crime,no matter who is doing it.
The Witch Trials are back, featuring “Brave Canadians” as the burners.
Hysterical Stupidity is our Dear Leaders dream come true,as they see a path to power,in inciting the mob.
    Canadians are full of themselves.
The Ontarian delusion that they are “The centre of the universe” is widespread.
Envy and knowledge, how ever dim, of ones own inadequacy, makes for miserable small people.
    Welcome to Can Ahh Duh.
    Of course the facts..
That the USA outclasses us economically 10:1..at least.
That the average American barely thinks of Canada.
And that Canada remains slothful, delusional, naked of defence forces, bankrupt and indebted to foreign agencies..
    Nope.
    Facts don’t matter.
How dare our protector tell us that we are Naked,Stupid and parasitic?
My cousins to the South of me are not my enemies.
Those remain much closer and slightly to the East.

  11. Where did all the normal people go? Everyone here revels in blowing Putin and Trump. WTF is that all about? Seems to have been taken over by the St. Petersburg Troll Farm. Sorry for noticing that Americans are being extreme assholes and need to be put in their place.

    1. Honest question don’t take offence, but are you vaxed?
Is there anybody in Canada or the US that hates Trump but remains unvaxed?

Bureaucrats are easily retarded to keep their jobs.
Talk to any teacher or nurse.

To what degree are the vaxed displacing their anger for their own gullibility onto the latest “2 minutes of hate” figure offered up by our gubmint/msm?

Getting vaxed made otherwise reasonable people lose their objectivity because they have lost, to some degree, and now have their skin in the game which they must regain.

      1. There is empirical evidence from studies that the Covid shots can, and frequently have, affect people mentally. It’s not unacknowledged guilt.

    2. You are hilarious, scar. You remind me a chihuahua yapping whille being carried around in your sugarmommy’s handbag.

But your CCP-run, kleptocratic narco sh**hole with exploding household debt-levels and collapsing productivity thinks it is going to win a tradewar against a country the size of the US. Your economy barely holds up against that of Mississipi. Good luck anyway.

    3. Ah yes, this is the MSM brainwashed mind.
FEAR FEAR FEAR HATE HATE HATE.
Are you PVRing every newscast, so you don’t miss any of the hatemongering MSM Fear Porn?
Did you get all 9 Clot Shots too?

    4. “Where did all the normal people go? Everyone here revels in blowing Putin and Trump. WTF is that all about? ”

We ARE the normal people. You’re the fringe, so uninformed and ignorant of the facts that you have firmly convinced yourself that you are right and everyone else is wrong.

    5. Well Scar old boy, i’m half American, will I do? Where and when? I look forward to being “put in my place”, if you have the guts and the wind.

  12. I have met hundreds of Canadians in my life. I can count on the fingers of one hand those who were not conniving, scheming backstabbing douchebags. Once Canadians have been replaced by Indians and Muslims, (a) you’d barely notice the difference in interpersonal behavior, but (b) they will be a far less damaging bunch, and far easier to avoid business dealings with.

  13. If anyone that resides in western provinces feels more connected to the Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal corridor, rather than north western United States of America, please explain. Canada is the country that is divided and the liberals are driving that wedge in deeper.

Carney rising in the polls felt a bit frustrating initially, but now lets rip the band aid off and start all over. The west needs to create its own path and stop being a colony of the eastern elites.

    1. In the same way that Canada in 1982 decided it needed to get out from under the UK, the West needs to get out from under Upper and Lower Canada. And the UK treated Canada FAR better than the Laurentian Elites treat the West.

      1. There’s talk of Canuckistan becoming the 28th state of the EU.
I’m gob smacked! The same people who cherish their autonomy and sovereignty under the perceived threat of US intervention is relishing the notion of surrendering that sovereignty to yet another level of bureaucracy that’s not even located on our continent!
If that isn’t enough motivation for the west to blaze it’s own path towards independence, then the west is going to pay the price by remaining in the failed state of Canuckistan.

      2. “…Canada in 1982 decided it needed to get out from under the UK…”

I moved to England in 1983, lived there 17 years. I never saw any indication that they were aware of Canada being “under” them nor that Canada was trying to get out from under. Perhaps we should think and talk less about being Canada, and do more, better.

        1. Britain abandoned all responsibility for Canada under the Campbell-Bannerman government in about 1905. No one thought we were “under” Britain in 1983, or thought that anything needed to be done about Britain. Trudeau simply wanted to change the constitution illegally and invented British authority to do it for him, and then pretend to end their already non-existent authority.

  14. Canadians have opted out of being Canadian, they have this weird inferiority complex.
Even the people with actual wealth..,…
It seems to me they just want to go back to sleep. And not be bothered.
I’ve finally accepted the direction this country is going, and will continue to go until Canadians figure out how bad they have been had and so easily at that.
All it took was stuff, and letting the wrong people instill the wrong things in our institutions and ultimately our kids.
If the hate was directed where it should be the corruption would certainly stop.
But that’s alot to hope for.

  15. Most of the venom is coming from the retired generation, they like to spend six months a year in Florida but parrot CNN talking points. Frankly I am sick of the preening whining leftwing loons, some Canadians have a superiority complex, the self same people that wanted to lock us anti-vaxers up have Trump derangement syndrome. The self same “We are a nation of peace keepers” have no idea without the US we would of been stranded unable to serve on missions.

  16. I went into a Calgary Co-op liquor store yesterday to buy 2 bottles one of our favourite wines because it had been on sale. The wines were from the ‘Social Collection’, which buys wines from around the world, bottles and markets them under their own label.

The wine I wanted, Social #123, a Merlot from Columbia Crest vintners in Washington State, was no longer on sale though many others from the Social Collection were. The sale price was $14 for an outstanding 2017 wine.

The clerk told me that all American sourced wines would no longer be ‘promoted’ with a sale price and if I wanted it I’d have to pay $19 for it. I declined.

This is insane, pitiful, self-harming, virtue signalling. Co-op has the wine, they’ve paid for it, now they have to store it for free or screw over their customers. I can understand refusing to buy more from the Yanks, that would be stupid too if the customers want it, but understandable.

Our ‘Elites’ are insane, stupid and selfish.

  17. Americans make their own laws.
    Don’t like it, don’t visit.
    And vice versa.
I don’t plan on going to some Burkha Jihad country because they’re death cultist cousin-fckers who can kill you because your not one of them.

  18. I don’t trust my fellow Canadians either. Especially since Blackie’s 2nd time voted in. But what Trump is currently doing re media/to win Canadian hearts is not helping.

For ex fresh from Cdn News, last night: guess why real estate market in GTA is low? Trump, FFS!
So Librano$/NDP Mafia is winning with “everything is Trump’s fault”. Well, Trump&co needs to combat this BS. Don’t know how exactly, showing how Librano$ are in bed with China? Why 5Eyes Alliance is considering Canada compromised? Exposing how msmedia in Canada is owned by Librano$? Offering something better (real US Constitution vs Cdn HR Charter which has been raped multiple times and in various ways, better US$ value vs Cdn$, lower taxes, less pandering to Quebec)? All of the above?

Anyway, right now trolling with stuff like 51st state/governor Trudeau/”don’t care/they don’t like me” is not helping.

    1. You have to understand: we don’t care if we win your hearts and minds; we don’t care to help you.
These things are being brought up because of things that have gone unnoticed and unanswered in the past. Those comments are not just aimed at Canadians, but at the American people — for different purposes.
      It is what it is.

    2. Um, Dan, Trump and Co aren’t running for anything in Canada.
His only concern is the US.
And, stop watching the MSM, they are pros at manipulation and fearmongering unnecessarily. Whether you realize it or not, it affects the watchers. Slowly, but surely.
The Americans will get their way and win this dispute. The challenge on this side is whether to negotiate and move on, or, Ukraine this country, economically, instead.
There’s no valour in crippling your own economy, but that’s the path of tEaM cAnAduH!

      1. The crippling of your economy is merely a tactic, along with your media (and the “Team Canada” label…simple, almost crude, but effective agitprop). In fact, I’d say it’s doing a wonderful job of hiding just how crippled your economy was prior (much like the EU).

      2. @DanBC: Yes, of course his only concern is US. Also, yes no question about it – Canada will shoot self in the foot and US will win. But it’s a win that can be done 2 ways. It’s way better to be perceived as a Savior, not as a conqueror who pillaged the land and took everyone in slavery. If he lets the Librano$ shape the narrative, the path to win + manage the win can be much more difficult.

        1. We just want you to take your national security more seriously and treat us more fairly in trade deals, maybe straighten out your social mess (you do not have a free country and you are broke).
That would be a win for us.
We don’t want to be your savior — that’s what got us carrying the load with Europe (and Canada); and we are not loved.
And if we were to go in, we would not be placing you into slavery — perhaps deporting you to Europe or Asia where you seem to want to be in the first place — and that only if you truly do something stupid. This would be a last case scenario at which time it’s always good to remember Machiavelli’s dictum about love or fear. But we would prefer Canada just got its collective head out of its backside and act like a true ally for a change (and no, you have not, you’ve been called out for it, and unsurprisingly like a child caught stealing cookies, you cry innocence and outrage and your treatment).

And by you I mean your government and apparently the majority of your citizens.

      3. @DanBC
“There’s no valour in crippling your own economy, but that’s the path of tEaM cAnAduH!”
The lieberals would rather govern over the ashes instead of giving up power.

  19. I will be attending a funeral (in Alberta) on Saturday, and expecting 3 USA family members to attend. All are dual citizens (US/Can), staunchly anti-Trump, and smugly secure that they will have a warm welcome here, so all can cluck their tongues and shake their heads in disgust and dismay with the sad state of affairs down south.

I’m keeping my mouth shut because I made the mistake, back in Trump’s first term, of mildly commenting that I didn’t think he was doing a bad job, citing examples like improving relations with North Korea and not starting any new wars. That was met with frosty silence that went downhill from there. I invited my relatives to stay with me during this visit, but they prefer to rent a hotel room. SMH

    1. Just as well though. They would insist on having their CNN/PMSNBC on all the time.
Whether friends or family, they are all caught in the same delirium.
      Hypnotized, brainwashed, delusional.
We had slowly been rebuilding relationships since the Covid PsyOp, though only those that were reaching out, not the ghosts. Eff them.
But, the distancing has come back. The Trump Derangement is Strong. But, we’re not going to annoy ourselves with toxic relationships, just be ourselves until one of them goes off on their unhinged rant.
One couple has sworn off US vacations for 4 years. Their health is not 100%, in their mid-60s.
YOLO. This is how brain damaged this country is. Yes, they are fully vaxxed too, of course.

  20. The GDR during its existence as a colony of the USSR constantly demonized West Germany as a “Nazi State”.

That’s what Canada’s astroturfed “patriotism” reminds me of. And like the old GDR, we are a mere colony of the Empire of Globalism, which is facing its own Soviet-style collapse.

    1. Pinch me.
If Trump destroys the Globalist transnational progressives like the USSR was destroyed he’ll be alongside Churchill as the “greatest politician” (oxymoron) in modern times.

      1. Yup it might be that great.
        And will someone in Canada.
Leave the trough to give Canadians something honest and good?
What Capitalism is supposed to be .

      2. Too many Canadians are absolutely oblivious about the globalist agenda. That is why many support Carney. It’s insane, and there will be a big price to pay if people do not wake up.

  21. I was just in Phoenix a few weeks ago and many Americans we met were apologizing for Trump. We, of course, tried to defend him in a polite way. Your brainwashing shows and many Americans are happy to have the business of tourism so as LC Bennet says “grow a pair”.

  23. Reporter: Did they ever say why your application was denied at the border or is that something that’s ongoing…”unintelligible”.

Mooney: Because there were issues in the past, I guess that’s why

Ok…we’re getting closer to the truth.

From the comments. She is not travelling to the US on vacation. She had a previous TN work Visa that was revoked back in Nov/24. She first tried to enter the US from Vancouver, but was turned back and was instructed to take care of it at the Consulate office. Instead of doing that, she somehow decided to enter the US from Mexico. This will automatically get flagged by US CBP who then detained her – crossing 2 different port of entries within weeks. But why she was handed over to ICE is a mystery, who basically treated her like an illegal alien trying to enter the US illegally.

Speculative I know but it’s slowly coming out in my opinion.

      1. …she somehow decided to enter the US from Mexico which her lawyer strenuously advised her NOT to do.

I added the last part in there because that’s exactly what happened. Why did she ignore it? Because she thinks she’s too clever by a half. She now realizes she effed up and is appealing to Canadians who are already amped up over the tariff war to take her side. And of course they do.
“Look what Orange man did to me?!?1?

        1. In today’s computerized biometric era, US customs knows everything, right now.
I addressed the visa issues top of thread, from experience of navigating it years ago.
If one is turned back, DO NOT TRY AGAIN shortly afterward.
She FAFOd. No sympathy. MSM are devious propagandists.

        2. Here’s what I also want to know, Burton … how many times did this woman vote in US elections? After all … she acts like she owns the place.

  24. I keep having to refresh my understanding of the difference between jealously and envy.

    This is E N V Y pure and complex.

    You were wise to disengage.
Wiser still would be to stop having political exchanges with acquaintances, friends and loved ones. You’re very clearly a smart cat but these exchanges are stupid.

  25. I was just in Phoenix a few weeks ago and many Americans we met were apologizing for Trump. We, of course, tried to defend him in a polite way. You’re brainwashing shows and many Americans are happy to have the business of tourism so as LC Bennet says “grow a pair”.

  26. I am a retired single Albertan. I live off grid full time in an old 40 ft motorhome. I boondock camp in the Arizona desert for the winter and I camp in BC wilderness areas in the summer. Being that my motorhome and my towed pickup both have Alberta plates I am more worried about camping in BC than Arizona. This was proven out last summer when someone shot at my motorhome with a pellet rifle and damaged a window frame. I had to move in a hurry. A Canadian asked me if I worry about Americans with guns while in the desert. People are scatter camped around the desert. I said that I didn’t worry about it at all. In fact, I kind of like it. Most Americans are armed for protection and they know how to handle a firearm. I like having them around. Most BC people are nice but there is a contingent who think Albertans should not be allowed into BC. They vandalize Alberta vehicles frequently. Some places are worse than others. The current talk of ‘Team Canada’ annoys me. There is no ‘Team Canada’ other than the occasional sports team.

    1. My understanding is that if you remove the worst Blue cities from the crime statistics, that crime in America is very similar to that in Canada.

I’ve traveled all around America for 4 years now and had zero problems.

  27. Ummm, I just left the center of Arizona RV’ing, it’s still full of Canadians, and we’re all still friends.

    Someone’s full of it.

  28. I live in Yuma, AZ – we get tons of Canadians every year for the winter.

    1. Arizona was always a gun-toting state. For 15 years now we haven’t even had gun permits. Concealed and open carry are perfectly legal here. I have ridden a motorcycle home across town with a lever action strapped to my back after purchasing it in a private sale.

    2. Canadians leave Arizona in droves every spring – we’re just as miserable in the summer as you are in the winter;). But there’s still tons here right now.

  29. There’s a Canadian prediction for pretentious behaviour

In regards to this thread, it’s displayed as a kind of admiration when a US President is democrat, however vitriolic pretence is the baseline when a republican gets in the Oval Office.

  30. LC Bennett-

You need to pay closer attention to American politics . Political violence in the US is strictly propagated by the left/Democrats. You’ll be fine I. Your travels.

  31. Nothing changes.

In 1943, the CCF party, now known as the NDP, were opposed to American financing for developing of the Steep Rock Iron Mines in North Western Ontario.

  32. (Canada only exists as a ‘nation’ because the USA allows it. Full Stop!) from below…

    Hello all.

I used to post here frequently about 10-15 years ago. I learned much of what I know from the thoughtful and diverse people that frequent(ed) this site(does ET still post here? or Hans Rupart?). I am an ex-pat (Canadian) living in AZ. Two points:

    1) absolutely nobody (Canadian) who lives here part time has “packed-up” because of Trump.

    2) the vast majority of Americans 99%, could not care less about Canada; CANADA DOESN’T EVEN EXIST as far as the majority of Americans are concerned, and a good chunk of them don’t even think Canada is a real country.

My personal opinion since living here over a decade:

Canada is not a ‘real’ country. It cannot fend for itself in terms of economics nor sovereignty.

The Canadian media and education system has ballooned-up Canadian’s sense of importance and self-righteousness to the point of delusion. I grew-up in Canada 0-36yrs old and suffered from this same delusion: that Canada is consequential. It is not!

I am saying this with all the kindness I can muster, but tough love is necessary here: Almost nobody outside of Canada’s boarders even knows Canada exists!

Canada would be wise to get on board with Trump and his modern version of the Monroe Doctrine (read up). The deal on the table today is the best it will ever be for Canadians! Canadians should be honored!

Canada only exists as a ‘nation’ because the USA allows it. Full Stop!

Whether it is Resources, Strategic location, or trade issues; Canada will fall under the USA jurisdiction one way or another (State, or territory) IF/WHEN the USA wishes it. (a decade ago, this was a frequent topic at sda… looks like some of you were right lol)

I love Canada, and the Canadian people; but your collective reaction to today’s politics makes you’ll look like petulant children. Being offered to join the USA as a State, equal to all other States is a gift… and a sign of the good will Americans have towards Canada. Grow up and have some bloody class!

PS: the most accurate and concise person speaking currently about Trump and his foreign policy is Steve Bannon. He’s done a number of very interesting interviews lately where he lays-out Trump’s vision and the path we are on in the Western Hemisphere. I highly recommend listening to a few of his interviews.

    Cheers

    1. Thanks for this. I actually just arrived in Prescott this afternoon and plan to talk with every Canadian I find. I concur with you that what my acquaintance on Vcr Island said about every Canadian packing up and going home is likely B.S.

      1. Greetings from Vancouver Island… funny, I overheard some similar BS just this morning at the Duncan A&W.

Dude had just returned from helping his aged mother sell her RV park lot (or it might have been a condo or time-share or something like that, but he kept calling it a park) somewhere in AZ and was telling his friends how “everyone” was packing up and selling off their lots/units and “everyone” had a for sale sign, etc… which amazed his friends who asked for more details, like how many were for sale:

        “Two hundred.”
“Oh, wow. How many units are there?”
        “I told you: 200.”
“No, but how many are there overall?”
“At least 200 for sale signs. I told you: everyone’s leaving.”

Finally someone spelled it out: how many units are there in total at that RV park or complex? And he finally answered, almost sheepishly: “3400.” Then tried to deflect to another topic.

So, 1/17th of this particular RV park constitutes “everyone.” Then his friends asked if maybe the exchange rate might have something to do with it and he admitted that maybe that was part of it but then went on to bluster about how it’s really because everyone hates Trump.

And as someone else mentioned in these comments: Canadians are packing up and leaving AZ now because it’s that time of year. Winter’s over and the brutal heat is coming, and if you aren’t a dual citizen, you can only stay the 6 months as a tourist and that’s almost over if you left in October. I have a snowbird neighbor who does that same cycle every single year without fail regardless of who’s in the White House.

    2. Canada is circling the bowl, Trump see’s this and has thrown us a life ring….maybe not the 51st state (although I’m not against that) but a secure economic and socially relative relationship of the two most similar nations on the planet. Canada has always been a collection of regions run by the old collective of Upper and Lower Canada dispensing monies where needed to secure votes….it hasn’t worked.
Grab the life ring before it’s too late even if it’s red, white and blue.

  33. Canada.

A group of British loyalist failed colonists, that fled north, only to strangely let themselves be governed by the French settlers, whom the British had defeated in a war for the said territory.

  34. In Kalispell today. Not seeing anything abnormal. The fact is that Canada is such so small potatoes that even close to the border we do not come anywhere near the radar. We’re the mosquito floating on his back yelling, “raise the drawbridge!”

  35. I believe these “trying times” are a great filtre for seeing who is a stable adult and who is an unstable and dangerous fool. All this Tesla idiocy is rooted in Trump hatred. Unequivocal Ukraine support? Trump hatred. Masking up, social distancing, get the jab, believe the science? Trump hatred. Honk honk? Trump hatred. No pipelines? Drill baby drill.

I like knowing who my fellow countrymen are but the information it gives me tells me that Canada is not really a great place for people who enjoy prosperity and small government. This delusion is now generational.

I’m looking for an exit strategy.
