Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

But, but, but! Why are you worried? Haven’t you seen all those “Canada Builds” and “Canadian Energy” ads?
I mean, surely prosperity is just around the corner.
Right?
Around the corner of a traffic circule, maybe.
What I’m noticing is the Americans really hate it when we copy them. Regan introduced the “Buy American” policy back in the 1980’s, and shut Canada out of providing a number of products and services. Canada introduced “Buy Canadian” in the 2020’s, which shut America out of providing a number of products, though not services. If the Americans are really upset about “buy Canadian” they should drop “buy American” for Canada, then Canada can do the same.
“What I’m noticing is the Americans really hate it when we copy them.”
Nobody thinks that.
Fewer say it, unless…
The fact that you don’t know the difference between a “buy Canadian” campaign and banning American products from the stores says all you need to know about why Canada is circling the drain.
Some Canadian products were banned under Regan. Canadian companies were prevented from bidding on projects that they used to bid on. I can’t be the only person on this site old enough to remember that. There was also a Buy American campaign on the radio and television to convince the American public not to buy Canadian (and other) products.
That was part of the reason the Free Trade deal under Mulroney was so important, it got Canadian goods back on American shelves.
“The fact that you don’t know the difference between a “buy Canadian” campaign and banning American products from the stores…”
[Big sigh.] This is the thing the media does to us. There’s a difference between a boycott by the population and a BAN by government. A fundamental difference, really. One is the action of a free society, the other is the action of a totalitarian government.
But the Canadian media is pretending one is the same as the other as hard as they can. A generalized boycott by free citizens is what’s happening to Hollywood. People are not going to watch their movies, because nobody likes them. A ban by a totalitarian government is what’s happening in Ontario with American liquor. #BlubberDougie the Tsar of Ontario decided he needed a bloody shirt to wave on TV, and chose Jim Bean and Jack Daniel’s as his target.
I don’t even drink and I’m still angry about it. The Province of Ontario just decided I don’t get to choose what whisky I can buy? Are you kidding me?! WTF is that?!!
People may wonder why I cheer #TheDonald on as he pressures Canada on trade. Why am I rooting for the other guy and not my country? Because the people who run this place do it for their OWN BENEFIT and do not care about Canadians. At all. Ever. So every time #Donnie kicks them in the b@lls, I win. Canada wins.
I love watching totalitarian socialists loose. If some lady in NY has introduced a Canada Act to the US Congress, to investigate shenanigans by the Canadian government on trade, I’m a fan. Kick ’em again!
I haven’t bought any Canadian beer, wine, or liquor since FFF banned US alcohol.
I’m right with you, Phantom. Let the Don kick our political class in the goolies. They all deserve it if not much worse.
“So every time #Donnie kicks them in the b@lls, I win. Canada wins. ”
Agreed. I just wish the process of our collapse could be hastened somehow, so I can see the looks on the faces of the “Elbows Up!” idiots as they realize what they have done.
I don’t think the pricks are bright enough to figger it out. Time & again they’re shown that this shithole is where it’s at because of them & they’re all still in denial.
I couldn’t agree more with the commentators here about our relationship with America. It reminds me of a teenager rebelling against his parents, I don’t need to expand on that simile, everyone is familiar with it. The problem now is when do we as a country grow up and start electing leaders? Better yet is the question, when is Canada going to produce leaders that can take us out of the morass and swamp that we have inflicted on ourselves over the last decade? Trump has been under constant attack by the Democrats and the press and some Republicans since he decided to enter the political arena, he didn’t have too. He reminds me very much of Churchill. So again when will Canada produce a leader that can bring sanity back to this country?
The charade of Mark Carney likely gets exposed towards the end of this month and into August. He (and his party) have backed themselves into a corner. Their whole continued position of power is based on creating an adverserial relationship with the country that buys 75% of Canada’s goods. Being belligerent and adverserial with a party to which you require cooparation is not a good strategy.
Trump and Carney sit down to discuss the future of the USMCA towards the last week in July. To upkeep the necessary mantra for the Liberals he will attempt to play “hardball” in these discussions. Trump will shrug and initiate the six-month exit clause. China will jump right in, and suddenly Canada is getting a fraction of the worth of the goods being exported. But, China isn’t done. They’ll require concessions. And, they will be doozies….but worry not, the Liberals will continue their Anti-US and Anti-Trump rhetoric and consider it a win while the Canadian Media backs them up. All the while the Canadian dollar will be doing a nose dive.
Newsflash:
Carney can do whatever the fck he wants.
He has the backing of the Forever Government.
