  1. L – So, would a ban on plastic packaging extend logically to a ban on
cell phones, too? After all that’s how the gov’t. is packing their
misinformation via a ban on everything except gov’t. packaged
information(Ministry of Truth) for the last 3 years.

  2. The real story here is that no one from the Opposition or the major grocery chains or from public health agencies have called press conferences and denounced this for what it is: stupidity.

    1. Heh! I can still remember the days when grocers switched from Paper bags to plastic — to save the trees, dontcha know…
The enviro-greenies can’t seem to make up their minds.

      1. they briefly switched back to paper, and then decided that a 33-cent single use “reuseable” bag was the way to go…

    1. It’s time to start mailing him a lot of chicken and potato salads in paper bags.

  3. Ontario’s liquor dispensary, LCBO is banning bags too. Paper bags.
    Everything is stupid (EIS).

  4. If only Canadians would stop throwing plastic bags into rivers in China and India. Just like a carbon tax in Canada will solve the air pollution in those countries.

    1. Exactly. Article cites how much of global marine litter is plastic. Real question is, how much of that originates from Canada (besides the garbage (aka stuff we sort and call recycled waste) shipped overseas to the third world including those used adult diapers that were shipped to the Philippines).

      1. the problem is that the recyclable plastic, isn’t, so it either gets shipped to a third world country and dumped, or gets buried here.

But government will not recognize that the correct way to deal with it is incineration to power

    2. ha ha ha !!! good one. actually didnt ya know, it’s chirese and indians throwing their plastic in our rivers. now go figure that out it makes as much sense to ban
      -plastic drinking straws,
      -plastic groc bags and
      -hmmm . . . . .

  5. Stephen Guilbeault could order the construction of extermination camps for people charged with crimes against the planet and the majority of Canadians would approve. They are Eloi grazing in the cities waiting for their “dinner horn”.

  6. Here in the states, it’s enough to say that the Democrats are pushing for us to go Socialist and the Republicans are pushing for us to go Socialist, just not as quickly. If the Democrats proposed we all jumped off a 500 foot cliff tomorrow, the Republicans would counter with a proposal that the cliff only be 450 feet tall and we wait until the day after tomorrow.

Thus the “commendable ambition” to eradicate plastic waste by eliminating plastic altogether. We need more time to adjust to a brave new world without fossil fuels, without electricity, without cars, without food! We can’t do it all in the next 6 years, we need at least 7.

  7. Just ignore that ass. In fact, build factories that will make the things he is trying to ban. Who put this ass in charge of our lives anyway?

        1. Both of you are wrong. You can blame the retards in Laurier—Sainte-Marie in downtown Montreal for getting elected. Justatwit just put him in cabinet. Conservatives in that riding get much less than 3.5% of the vote. It’s about as Communist as you can get anywhere in Canada.

          1. I wonder if those constituents are as unhappy as he looks. Man that guy is a real shit stain. Always looks like his granny shit in his lunchbox!

  8. I think it is a very creative way to make up for not meeting the Liberal government’s MAiD quotas!

  9. Salmonella is … well … “natural”. The First Peoples learned to live with Salmonella … so why shouldn’t all you white devils too? And you shouldn’t be eating meat anyway … unless you are using the WHOLE Bison … picking it’s bones apart to make war clubs and fishing hooks.

Ohhhhhhhhhhh Mommmaaaaaaaaaaaa … if only we ALL learned to live like the First Peoples? There’d be no more War, no more (white mans) Religion, and everyone would live happily with the woodland animals, holding hoofs and singing songs of Gaia …

    1. Before the Europeans landed, the various indigenous tribes were at war with each other for the land that they now claim as their own. When the indigenous marauders migrate, and found that the land they wanted was occupied by another indigenous tribe, do you think that they paused to negotiate a land settlement claim with the occupiers?

And now can you guess who it was that brought peace and civility to the new world? Yep! Those dastardly colonizers from Europe who committed “cultural genocide.”

I suppose under this government, I could be going to jail for thinking such thoughts, let alone saying them out loud.

      1. Yeah … but we white idiots would have all died off if the Natives hadn’t taught us how to grown corn and tobacco. We were helpless without the love and care of the beautiful natives peoples in loincloths. My children’s middle school teachers said so …

  10. Just wait till this complete arse bans songle use green garbage nags. Blue recycle bags and heaven forbid, the neferious zip lock baggie or cling wrap! How about construction grade vapour barrier. He is a megalimaniac.

  11. IMO He is a despicable nihilistic zealot. Through that lens it becomes clear why everything he says is either a lie or just plain evil.

Now the bureaucrats who make and enforce the policies, they must be an unholy army of darkness.

  12. Going to be a LOT more food waste…

    And diarrhea.

Until eating meat becomes illegal….except that bugs carry bacteria too. But who wants to eat them anyway, so no problem, right?

    1. You win the thread. The direct and immediate impact of this will be a rise in bacterial contamination everywhere such as salmonella and e coli. This will put a large additonional burden on health care system among many other things, but the convicted criminal Guilbeault doesn’t care about that. Health care is up to the provinces to pay for, not Gibbie.

  13. The writer gets to the nuts and bolts in the 15th paragraph. It’s about reducing meat consumption.

  14. Then we will probably elect Pierre Poilievre, and like the rest of the Conservative Party will sit on their hands and do nothing about it.

  15. Whatever.. Piss people off enough and they will start burning cars.. That is how things are done these days..

  16. If you think the food industry uses a lot of plastic, talk to a nurse and see how much is used in the hospital.

    1. Pretty soon hospitals will go back to reusable cloth bandages, rubber tubing, glass sterilized bottles and cat gut. If these pigs have their way.

  17. So, no plastic packaging makes meat unsafe? Well, get rid of meat, then, problem solved.

  18. And this clown has banned fully-compostable ‘plastic’ bags at the checkouts at Calgary Co-op, but they’re OK if sold off the shelves in bulk. Go figure. These are a made-in-Calgary product, fully endorsed and supported by our city. I’m wondering when (not if) this idiot will ban the compostable bags we use for our kitchen waste.
