43 Replies to “How High, Señor Maduro?”

  1. The politics of hunger… https://dolartoday.com just a touch under 5k to buy 1 dollar.
The most recent idea of the Maduro gov’t to have a new constitution, and that’ll solve the problem of not having enough food?
The idiocy doesn’t surprise me, but it does catch me off guard from time to time.

  2. To be clear, they are getting exactly what they voted for. Vote socialist, get hunger. And we’re not far behind them.

  3. “…Vote socialist, get hunger. …”
The hunger is only temporary, until the system is fully established. Then they eat each other.
Socialism isn’t the path to communism, they are both segments of the path to cannibalism.

  4. “Socialism isn’t the path to communism, they are both segments of the path to cannibalism.”
    Ain’t that the truth.

  5. Is Sean Penn the third guard from the left, or is he nowhere to be seen?

  6. Yes, Maduro was voted in – and Democracy is like a bus stop – and Maduro was a bus driver before politics….Now I finally get it!

  7. When do the guards start to get it and join them in the fight and hang Nicolas Maduro to finally get there country back. Then hang the National Assembly and possibly the Supreme Court along with them, they are the ones creating this total mess. Or was it some outsider like SOROS and his ilke, to take over the country…Russia maybe!!

  8. I like one of the twitter comments: “He’s a dictator, that isn’t socialism”.
    LOLs were had by me.

  9. wonder if Moscow was like that during the revolution??
and it lasted….after a few millions of deaths…

  10. Exactly! See my Reader Tips on the BC election. People seem to always get suckered by the false promises of the Marxist crowd.
At L. That is what happened in Russia. Much of the Petrograd garrison joined the hungry crowds in March 1917 and began to shoot or arrest their officers. All of what has happened in Venezuela looks like the work of Soros, and he would like the same for the US and Canada.
    NME666, exactly.
Kate suggests, “May there be a lamp post in his future.”. May she be right.

  11. The really sad part of this is that those crowds would happily vote for the yet another socialist dictator, were he to promise the same impossible things that were promised by Chavez and Maduro.
The promise of Free Stuff always wins.

  12. The guards and their families have been eating. Every totalitarian system is the same. The leaders hoard the country’s wealth and bounty. The system, and those that support the system, are first in line for goods and services. The populace share the skimpy leftovers.
Whenever things go awry, which they eventually do, the people are last in line because the system needs the resources to survive, for the good of the people of course. Fist in the air!
It all comes down to what is important.
They will all be EQUAL and that is what counts right? Just ask the CBC, public service unions, and University profs.

  13. Its amazing how long they can hang on.
The police and army….they are being fed.
Where is the ammunition, guns, tear gas, body armour coming from? Cuba? Russia, China Iran?
As diminished as the industry is, the government still has cash flow from oil.
What worries me is whoever takes over will they loot the place further or will they turn it around. I fear the former but the latter represents such an incredible opportunity.

  14. Ken, Is it not always about ‘greed & envy’? It works in almost all aspects of the human condition.
The majority of Venezuelans voted for this government and not just once.
Not to be undone I suspect B.C. voters will elect a Dipper government on Tuesday. Progressives use ‘greed & envy’ as a standard tool. They encourage class warfare and cannot stand the accountability of capitalism and thusly subvert it at every opportunity. It is an enabler of a class of people who net net do not contribute much to society. They do not address the real issues as that would drive a bottom line mentality and thusly expose the weakness of their philosophy.
The biggest crime is that capitalism cannot defend itself and has never made a strong case that voters can get their heads around.

  15. Totalitarian and socialist have the same meaning. Stamp out and eliminate redundancy!

  16. As Rand said, the only difference between socialism and communism is that the former is suicide because it comes about at the ballot box while the later is simply murder. The West is still creeping towards this abyss at various rates. These days, the institutional left is silent on Venezuela as the transition is nearly complete.

  17. … “Something for nothing, always ending with a bad report” – Elton John, Tumbleweed Connection
    http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/eltonjohn/wheretonowstpeter.html
The “report” of which Sir John sings … is the report (sound) of a gun. Socialism (something for nothing) always ends with gunfire and bloodshed. But the allure of FREE STUFF and all the happy woodland animals singing and dancing, holding hands together sounds so wonderful … like a make-believe Disneyesque world where we can all live like children. Until all the FREE STUFF runs out.

  18. They’ll just replace him with another Make Hope and Change Great Again strong man.

  19. From what I can see in that photo there’s a sea of desperate people all willing to drive bulldozers to scrape the communist Maduro menace from Venezuela and then start building real meaning to their lives again.

  20. Exactly my sentiment.
I laughed out load at the tweet line “rising up against totalitarian socialists”.
PaceTony Blair and his third way, there are no other kinds of socialist.

  21. Yes,there may very well be a lamp post in his future.
Now,the only decision is whether to hang him by the neck or by the feet.
Maybe they can form a discussion committee on this important matter, and we can hope he won’t starve to death by the time they finally make their choice.

  22. “Now,the only decision is whether to hang him by the neck or by the feet.”
Also, nylon or hemp? Durability vs irony.

  23. A spiritual insight into socialism:
And the Lord told Samuel: “Listen to all that the people are saying to you; it is not you they have rejected, but they have rejected Me as their King. As they have done from the day I brought them up out of Egypt until this day, forsaking me and serving other gods, so they are doing to you. Now listen to them; but warn them solemnly and let them know what the king who will reign over them will claim as his rights.”
Whenever you see a vote for more government you will always see the people have rejected God.

  24. “…Just no money, no aid, and NO Refugees…”
I’m in favour of giving material aid: smuggle handguns and ammunition into the country. “Seed” arms, that can be used to disarm soldiers and police officers, acquiring more arms. No refuge here, but practical help to take back their own country.

  25. Just under 5k : 1 US dollar @ 5 am
    Just over 5k : 1 US dollar @ 5 pm
a trend… that the hungry will notice.

Rioting in Venezuela’s “3rd city” … with video and photos
“Greater Valencia has seen frenetic scenes in the last 72 hours. Reports, pictures and videos have flooded social networks: people looting supermarkets, shops, warehouses and even factories in every part of the city from north to south, plundering not only food but also everything else from machines, fridges to roof-plates, in what constitutes the worst violence in the city since the February 1989 riots and the worst in the country since the Ciudad Bolívar looting in December.”

  26. “The Prosecutor’s Office reported 35 people dead and 717 wounded during protests until Thursday morning, besides 152 arrests and 18 arrest warrants pending enforcement. The update they will have to make for today will be important, because this entire tragic report excludes the State terrorism perpetrated in Carabobo between Wednesday and Thursday, with vandalism, widespread lootings and an astonishing violence, including processing civilians before military courts, as if violating their Human Rights wasn’t enough.”

  27. “Once Latin America’s richest country, Venezuela can no longer feed its people, hobbled by the nationalization of farms as well as price and currency controls”

“Venezuela has the world’s highest inflation—estimated by the International Monetary Fund to reach 720% this year—making it nearly impossible for families to make ends meet. Since 2013, the economy has shrunk 27%, according to local investment bank Torino Capital; imports of food have plunged 70%.”

  28. This can all be blamed on Trump, right?
I know because Maddow said so on CNN.

  29. Hang hang hang them all! I think Canada is overdue for same: Trudeau, Robertson, Nenshi, top of the list

  30. We can certain do without Red Rachel and her band of Bolshies.
It’s now 2 years since Alberta has been afflicted by the commie menace and, unfortunately, there are 2 more to go. I’m sure she will continue pursuing her fondest dream of establishing a western Canadian Venezuela.

  31. I feel very sad and very badly for the people of Venezuela. Everyone wants a better life and although we here at SDA as politically savvy people know that the government has no money of it’s own and must STEAL the fruits of the labour of it’s productive citizens, most people, unfortunately, are politically naïve and do not understand that GOVERNMENT IS THEFT.
It just so happens that not only have the people of Venezuela voted for a political party that plans to steal the fruits of everyone’s labour, but they made the mistake of voting for SOCIALISTS who plan to steal every aspect of every citizen’s decision-making process in their lives for ever-and-ever, world-without-end, Amen.
This could just as easily happen anywhere in Canada.
Especially given Canada’s immigration policy and the general ignorance of the Legacy population of Canadians.
Multiculturalism is not your friend. Why?
Because most new immigrants aren’t assimilating and they don’t come from countries where Liberal Democratic values are part of the culture.

  32. Oz >
“Because most new immigrants aren’t assimilating…….”
That’s not by chance, Canada goes out of it’s way to promote keeping their Third World cultures while demonizing western cultures.
As with Europe importing millions of illiterate Third World barbarians, is NOT a mistake its strategy.

  33. The only difference between Venezuela and the USA – the marchers in Venezuela don’t have guns. Could you imagine 150,000,000 million people in america protesting and being locked and loaded? What a lovely sight it would be!
