  1. Interesting article about how the Mintx Group (a large foreign firm specializing in China business) was harassed out of China by the state police:
    https://www.reuters.com/world/china/us-consultancy-mintzs-executives-leave-hong-kong-after-china-raid-sources-2023-05-19/

World corporations still do business in China, and require China-based consultants to tell them factual information on China’s businesses and the economy. The China government lies and cheats about everything, including the production of Chinesec economic data. So these consultants are important.

The business media still talk about investing in China, but a decoupling between the Westvand China is slowly taking place. More Western consultants and media will be given the heave ho.

    1. “The China government lies and cheats about everything, including the production of Chinesec economic data.”

I would posit that Canada’s Government sincerely resembles that remark.

Canada’s numbers are massaged more than Deshaun Watson.

  2. I get regular emails from the Alberta Institute, as well. This one asks for your participation in a survey.

At the Alberta Institute, we do a lot of work tracking, analyzing, and reporting on what is happening in Alberta politics and at the legislature in Edmonton.

But we also spend a significant amount of our time doing original public policy research and generating new ideas that Albertans and our representatives can adopt and implement to help make our province a freer and more prosperous place to live for everyone.

Last year, to help us with that work, we launched the first edition of an annual Alberta Policy Survey and received an incredible response, with more than 5,000 people from across Alberta participating.

Today, I’m very pleased to be launching the Alberta Institute’s second annual Alberta Policy Survey.

Once again, we need your help to guide us in determining what kinds of issues are the most important for you today, and what types of solutions you would like to see proposed in the future to solve these challenges.

    1. So who gave the order?
      To vandalize the backhoes?
      Seems to,not be apparent.
Criminal order, carried out by criminal minions..”Just following orders uh huh”.

  3. Breaking on the Globe and Mail web page: the then-Public Safety Minister Bill Blair purposely delayed signing a CSIS warrant for monitoring a Chinese-Canadian Liberal power-broker:

…until after the 2021 federal election, in order to keep everything under wraps.

SDAers, could someone unlock the above paywalled link? This is a stunner, a grabber. Extraordinary bombshell.

I do not see how Canada can go merrily along without a successful non-confidence vote. The ongoing revelations are beyond the pale.

  4. Former CBC reporter claims broadcaster shut down stories critical of lockdowns.

    No kidding, sherlock!

I was there! I heard the testimony live. The only thing I was surprised about when listening to this former CBC-Manitoba reporter, is that there were actually reporters who worked at the CBC and actually cared about their profession. I didn’t see anybody from TNC there, though. Must have covered the hearings by remote, but I didn’t know all the independents who were there, so maybe…

One other observation: It appears that only the good reporters feel the need to quit not only their jobs, but their careers, raising the question of the integrity of those still working at their profession.

  5. In 1947 and onward, there was discipline in schools that was strict. Indian residential schools did not have as much as normal Catholic classrooms.

  6. Finally some good news: “Mass absences break out at Ontario schools as Pride flag flies”

“More than 400 pupils at one of London’s largest elementary schools – about one-third of the entire headcount – stayed home Wednesday, on a day when the rainbow flag flew across the school district as the area public board saluted International Day against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia.”
