  1. one guy has been working for the US for ten years and did not bother to become a citizen?

  2. Why do refugees always flee from “peaceful muslims” and seek to move to countries with white christian men? They must be racist islamophobes.
Unfortunately for Canada justin has turned our country into the world’s doormat without immigration standards.
George soros likes to profit off civil unrest (made billions from grreek debt crisis) and Canadian leaders are beholden to him.

  3. Stupid libtards. Trump was very clear throughout his campaign. The libtards chose to ignore him.
As to the migrants being stuck in “limbo”, well, I suggest they just go back to the sihthole that whelped them.

  4. Sure, why not, vetting immigrants to Canada is a fast track process, especially from the ME. There may be one little problem you might want to consider, ALL Canadians who attempt to cross the border to the US will be affected big time. Trump is not messing around.

  5. “Canada should just take these folks in.”
Yeah, our economy is booming! We’ve got jobs for these dudes, absolutely.
I gots a question: Why does it have to be us? Why can’t Mexico take them in? Good Christian country, full of compassion and Catholic do-goodery, why can’t Mexico step up and save the world for a couple weeks?
Or Saudi Arabia, for that matter. It’s closer, after all.

  6. I think the thing that unnerves people most of all about Trump is that he does what he said he was going to do. Not next week or next month but right away. People are used to politicians who say all kinds of things and then follow through on one or two or not at all. A politician keeping even one of his campaign promises is big news. Trump says he’s going to close the borders and the borders are closed. Next problem.

  7. Personally I do think that genuine refugees need help. The problem isn’t really that simple though. Progressives insist that wanting to help refugees means you must have 100% agreement with them on ;who is a refugee, who takes priority, how many, the importance of economic and social effects of host communities. For instance, I’d get condemned as a monster for 1)believing that priority should be given to women, children and the elderly 2)taking in only as many as receiving communities can handle to prevent backlash.
Learn from the friction in host communities in europe. There’s real concerns about crime and strains on welfare, education and Healthcare in poor and middle class neighborhood. Problems that the chattering/caring class are insulated against due to their shelteted existance in expensive postal codes. Giving money and making speeches isn’t anywhere near the same level of coommittment. The chattering/caring class shouldn’t continue being benevolent at others expense.
By failing to be reasonable progressives are going to hit a wall of indifference to the use of guilt and empathy shaming. Once a critical mass of voters gets shame and empathy fatigue it becomes very easy to say “No. Not my problem.”and walk away from those who demand too much. Very much like an experienced parent learning to say No to the demands of both children and volunteer work…it gets easier and easier to prioritize your own needs over the constant preaching about your obligation to others. Progressives calling non-progressives every ugly name they can think of certainly can’t have helped their cause either. Why assist people who have made it clear they hate you.

  8. The people who are most persecuted are also being actively prevented from migrating – that is the Christians.

  9. Leave it to the NYT to describe Muslims from sketchy regions of the world, trying to enter the USA as … “travelers”. It’s bad enough that they cannot distinguish a “refugee” from a young, able-bodied, 20-something Muslim male who should be defending his own homeland instead of wrecking Europe … and soon, America ! The NYT can sit on a chair leg and spin ! Go Trump 2017!!!! MAGA !!!!! Awesome !!!! I am finally (after 8 long long long years) proud to be an American

  10. Not one of these people is a real refugee, according to the definition of the U.N. High Commission on Refugees. One becomes an “official” refugee when one arrives in the first “safe” country adjacent to the war zone, or to the source country, if one is fleeing systematic state persecution of minorities. If Syria is the war zone, then Iraq, Turkey, Lebanon, and Jordan would be considered as “safe” countries.
Refugees are supposed to remain camps in the safe countries, aided by the U.N. until the conditions in their home country that caused them to flee have ended, and then they can be safely repatriated.
Parasites. Mostly, these so-called refugees are just parasites, and should be treated as such.

  11. President Trump is going to Make Mexico Great Again … and Make Syria Great Again … and Make Iraq Great Again … and ALL those countries experiencing the brain-drain, and brawn-drain by allowing their most able-bodied citizens to FLEE their countries for America … by STOPPING the flow of healthy, capable, 20-somethings from FRAUDULENTLY claiming “refugee” status.
Just think what all these TALENTED young men can accomplish in their OWN countries! Especially talented bilingual translators! Eh UnoMe ?

  12. I can understand this measure to some extent, but it does trouble me.
From a safety standpoint, wouldn’t terrorists be itching to launch a US attack ASAP to undermine Trump and the GOP, to set the nation against itself?
After all that’s what terrorism is, an attempt to corrupt the people against their leadership.
But, unlike other travel bans enacted by other presidents, this one lacks the input of cause on an individual basis.
I understand the Order does allow for specific exceptions. I suggest that be beefed up immediately to provide the required due process.
That way, innocents caught in the undertow can have an avenue for redress. It might even dampen enthusiasm for court challenges.
That would be boilerplate Trump, come in with a super strong position, beyond what you actually want, and then soften his stance.

  13. Very well said, Gord!
My experience working with Muslims from the nations which are in this turmoil has been an eye-opener. Most to the man, have always referred to their homeland as the bastion of longing and have deep desires to return there. Lebanon, Syria, Turkey, Kurdistan, Egypt and Israel (they say Palestine-we all know there is no such place other than a nick-name) with many having the intention of making their fortune here and then one day returning to live the “good life” again. They work and save their money, sending everything back home to the families still there, building houses and apartments, many still holding properties through the joint ventures of supplying cash-flow to the businesses and development through expanding their properties.
I have done work on the side for a few of them on their own homes and/or properties here because of the friendships I have built with them, not because I am good at what I do or the price for my services and skills. Many have multiple houses or apartments because of the low interest rates and grants they receive through the governments (you and I as a taxpayers). They have special status to build their lives up as new refugees, many doing their work under the table and without work or building permits. They work and live like they are still back in their home countries, giving work to those who are of their own ethnicity and especially if they are Muslim, to the exclusion of multi-generational Canadians.
Another thing I have learned is that they have left those countries because they have been marginalized because they are seen as the hicks and outcasts within their own populations. They are troublemakers and therefore are persecuted within their countries, many times for not believing the same version of Islam, usually the more peaceful and less strict adherents to the Koran. But they are adherents, non the less.
So, when we accept these refugees, we are opening ourselves up to people who are the marginalized and the traumatized. I would like to know what help they are receiving for this abuse and trauma prior to being released into our general populations? Is it any wonder why they become exclusive to their own communities and have such a hard time integrating into our society?
Our governments see the refugees as being part of the “tapestry” of Canadian society. Tapestry’s are for hanging on walls and appreciating their value as art work. A society which tries to emulate a tapestry mentality have no idea that the tapestry society can not be a working piece of material. When the stress of “washing” comes to a tapestry, it tears apart because the contraction rates of preshrunk fabrics next to more durable or more delicate fabrics.
Strong borders allows for safety and security, keeping out those who’s intentions are of destroying our society, for whatever reason they have against it.

  14. To be fair, anyone who already had a valid visa or Green card should have been excluded from the order, that’s just plain poor drafting of the order.

  15. To be fair, this is a response to an immigration system that under the Obama administration did little or no vetting of any refugees – particularly those from Muslim nations.
So, to be fair, it would be wise to halt even valid visa or green card holders from entering the country until they can be looked at more thoroughly. They could be placed at the top of the pile. A valid visa or green card can be revoked at any time – no reason necessary.
If Muslims don’t want to be subject to such restrictions then perhaps it is time for the so-called moderate Muslims to start protesting and turning in the radicals who are murdering thousands on a monthly basis and those imams who are encouraging such acts.
These actions are required to send direct and concise messages to all Muslims that ignoring the issue isn’t good enough anymore. This is a reasonable and mature response to what has been happening around the world since 9/11.
To be fair, not all Muslims are terrorists, but at this point in history 99.99% of terrorists are Muslims.

  16. Donald Trump said he was going to do this a year ago.
The media laughed and called him Hi–er, the Government ignored him, and the people that can be affected refused to listen.
If the Government did something last year, this would not be an issue. They could have set up a better screening and vetting process last year. But the Government did nothing. How many future terrorists like the San Bernadino killer, and terrorist enablers like Mrs. Mateen are out there? How many innocents will die? We will never know how many Trump saved, because their killers were coming here next week, or next month, or next year.
Canada and the EU better screen their citizens coming to the US carefully. If there are more than one terrorist attack by their citizens, I hope Trump adds them to the list. Norms and International Customs be damned. America has enough with its own citizen terrorists.

  17. Old man two-sticks asks, “WHAT EXEC ORDER???” I just re-read all the trump exec orders issued so far (whitehouse.gov) and I can’t find this particular order… help me out here by showing it to us…
“This idiotic evil exec order also includes people with Permanent Residency. The ACLU and others like them should be on the case. Hopefully some level of court has the balls and wisdom to can this thing.”

  18. How do you vet someone who doesn’t have any records of their history? We are admitting refugees who have no proof of their status.
They can say whatever they please and there is no way to go to Syria to find out if what they’re saying is true. They may not be lying, but without an avenue to confirm anything they say we’re taking their word. That isn’t vetting.
You don’t know what you’re talking about. Is your job vetting refugees? You’re a liberal/socialist/marxist who can’t think past your next breath.
Forcing healthy Canadians to get off welfare and get a job would negate any need for immigrants to be needed to boost our economy. There are millions of Canadians who can do the menial tasks that most refugees wind up doing. We need that issue resolved before we ‘pile on’ to it by adding thousands of refugees.
If you think bringing a family of four to Canada (x1000)who have no job skills, can’t speak either French or English and have no concept of how our society operates would be a boost, you’re mentally incompetent. Oh, and there is a big differece between a refugee and an immigrant.

  19. That was an interesting and instructive perspective.
Apart from that, though, “…they say Palestine-we all know there is no such place other than a nick-name.”
There was such a place in antiquity, a province of the Roman empire. Palestine at that time and for many generations before was the home of the Jews, long before there was such a thing as Islam. It could be said that the Jews lost it and Arabs/Muslims acquired it by right of conquest and occupation, but if that is the basis of one’s claim to something, one must maintain that claim on the same basis. If someone else comes along (or in this case, Jews come back) and takes it by conquest and occupies it, you have already validated their argument for keeping it.

  20. Thanks, lots more to say about the Muslims and their culture I am discovering whilst I work elbow to elbow with them, stay tuned and I will impart as needed and valid to articles and discussions.
Do some more research as to the beginning history of the Palestinian region. It was named so after the Phillistinians in the region, a defeated enemy from past generations, as a slap in the face to the conquered lands of Israel by the Roman Empire’s expansion in the world then. Everyone living there, regardless of their ethnicity, was known as Palestinians.
Just like we call people of all races here in Canada, Canadians, regardless of where they were born, so Palestinians are. And just like the Native Indians of North America, they are more staunch and protective of their identity, hardly referring themselves as Canadians or Americans, much the same as the Jewish people.

  21. Turdeau has already tweeted in response that all the rapefugees rejected by Trump are welcome in Canada. Time to let that pneumocephalic puppet know that we’re fine with that as long as every single rapefugee is settled in his Montreal riding.

  22. Trump will have Home Land Security auditing “ALL” Visa & Green Cards issued by the incompetent Obama Administration. The task is looking for Radicalized Islamic Terrorists anywhere and everywhere….Extreme vetting is a process that WILL make a valid determination…Those that pass will be admitted, those that fail will be blocked… You don’t want to fail*** Those Canadians from States that promote terrorism are best not to test the border until the new Standards and methods are set.
The Churches that have been sponsoring large groups of refugees… (Sponsoring not in a financial way) have bypassed
the usual vetting process.. They bring them in and get them on the Government systems.. Health/welfare Etc…
You may think they are experts in evil, but we need to take a second look.
If waiting for clearance is too onerous, perhaps they don’t want to enter the USA for any good reason.. Good riddance
The Mexican Southern border has a WALL that we pay them to control in order stop the drugs. They don’t want us to build a WALL on our border because then we don’t need to support their southern wall & they think they will be overrun with SA refuges….Greedy buggers or normal self interest

  23. Looks like every leftist reptile in the US is up in arms with demonstrations and law suits to try and stop Trump from putting a stop to just letting everyone in. There is a large radical leftist movement to have no borders and to let people from everywhere relocate to where ever they desire.

  24. well now fool, at the rate turd”oh was bring them in they would have to vet about 300 a day, in less than ideal conditions. They couldn’t even do that in ideal conditions. Do a$$holes like you ever bother doing math before you post?

  25. “President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Friday afternoon providing for ‘extreme vetting’ of immigrants and visa holders”.
I get it, he wants to be a living god!
Gooooooooo Trump go, and hurry up with the damned wall already.

  26. Making it harder to get to the U.S.A. from the target areas is a necessary first step for the campaign to come. When ISIS is defeated passage will be restored.

  27. No matter how well intentioned or successful a government policy will be overall, there will always be someone who suffers an injustice because of it.

  28. Well, presumably, our PM has indicated via a tweet that all are welcome to come to Canada — along with his usual mindless cliche” “diversity is our strength”. Presumably this is in response to Trump’s clamp down on refugee arrivals. Before opening the doors to Canada, however, Trudeau might want to check out some of the numbers on daily refugee arrivals to the US — this is just since Trump’s inauguration. (These figures are from Refugee Resettlement Watch: https://refugeeresettlementwatch.wordpress.com)
    January 20th: 29,895
    January 21st: 30,063
    January 22nd: 30,063
    January 23rd: 30,063
    January 24th: 30,063
    January 25th: 30,885
    January 26th: 31,521
    January 27th: 32,094
This morning the number is 32,125.
Taxpayers, of course, must pay for all of these people and it is communities that bear the brunt. Mr. Trudeau might want to reflect on that before swinging our door wide open for one and all.

  29. If all these refugees are being ‘vetted’ and we’re doing such a good job at it then how did Maryam Monsef become a Liberal MP? No good answer to that one is there.
And while were on the subject about bringing in the refugees that America is refusing we would do well to consider the lifeboat equation. Never heard of it? In a nut shell, you are in a lifeboat, with fourteen other people and the boat is designed for twenty people. As the boat makes its way clear of the sinking ship there are numerous other survivors in the water clamoring for help so you take on five more people. Still more are in need of assistance so if you overlook the rated capacity of the lifeboat and take on more survivors at what point does the lifeboat sink. The corollary to the equation is based on the same scenario but when the lifeboat reaches capacity it is decided that more survivors can be saved if some of the first fifteen, because they are in better condition than the rest since they were never in the water, give up their positions and get in the water but hang on to the gunnels of the lifeboat. Thus perhaps twenty more people can be saved, the problem then becomes if you were one of the first fifteen that set out in the lifeboat can you trust the people you saved to bring you back on board when it is their turn to get back in the water, or will they cast you adrift as you become weaker.
Canada and Canadian culture is now in the lifeboat equation and perhaps there is only the Trump solution.

  30. Yeah, nice, all rejects by the US can come to Canada. How will that play out for those of us who wish to travel to the US?

  31. what buns me off is when the local media does a story, 3 or 4 times now since turdeau 2.0 showed up, about a Columbian (thing FARC) etc refugee family with kids integrated, working parents, bla bla bla, getting the heave ho by Immigration Canuckistan because, well, I suppose we need to make roooooom for more middle easterners.

  32. Nancy Pelsoi made a great compassionate speech about the evil Trump stopping children coming from war torn Syria.
Well Nancy, What Brown Clown Started The War in War Torn Syria with his Arabian Springy and World Weakness Apology Tour.?
    Syria-
    Libya-
    Egypt-
    Iraq Withdrawal-
Created Millions of War Torn Children
Voters voted against the most stupid administration in American History.

  33. I remember a discussion on CBC last year about the number of refugees and Canada’s situation. The talking heads seemed full of the old banalities. Only one person dared demure. It was Chantal Hebert. She said thoughtfully that it may be a matter of logistics. Then nothing more.
Where I live in a city of 75,000, there is a waiting list of 3-5 years for affordable public housing. I was told that it is 10 years for senior citizen apartments. This being where staff are needed to assist the elderly. I will have to check on that figure though.
I have absolutely nothing but praise for the local medical system. Yet, the staff are being worked to a frazzle in some cases. Wait times for surgery are formidable.
The Prime Minister seems to have little clue as to simple logistics

  34. Interesting fact: not a single American has been killed on US soil in a terrorist attack by anyone who emigrated from, or whose parents emigrated from, the seven countries included in the ban.
Which makes it all the more interesting that Saudi Arabia (home to most of the 9/11 attackers), Egypt, the UAE, and Turkey are all exempt from the ban.
One can only guess why. MAGA!

  35. “These people have been vetted over and over again. It’s an extremely thorough process.”
    Actually, it’s not.
Much of the vetting is based on nothing at all. Or do you think the Canadian government simply calls up the Syrian government and has them pass comprehensive files on refugees?
(By the way, if we manage to get ourselves cut off from US HUMINT on unsavoury personalities in the Middle East, we’ll really be flying blind.)

  36. There is a lot more to this than just limiting immigration…and safety precautions. Watch what he does next and grab some popcorn. There was a reason Elizabeth May was honored with one of the first visits to the White House. If you want a hint, just look what he did with the TPP (Pacific Rim Trade Deal). He nixed the deal and is currently negotiating individually with the members (which means they will compete against themselves to use the US Market). May’s early arrival suggests he is doing the same with UK (Brexit) and opening up an individual trade deal with the UK. It will be a real sweetheart…because next he will go after Italy, France and the Netherlands (who are all teetering towards their own exits from the EU).
What’s the linchpin issue that the common citizen in all three of those countries is starting to absolutely resent. Well, if you’ve been paying attention, it’s the open borders, no accountability immigration process that is dangerous as well as costly. Currently, Trump is showing by example just how their own governments are failing them in protecting their country and their own wallets. Next he will dangle a carrot to show them there is life after the EU…if they jump at the carrot before the next guy. Immigration is just one of those most obvious failing and not the only one.
The landscape is changing folks…more than you realize.

  37. We are in for some big problems with this fool and his cabal we have leading this country, there isn’t a clue among them.

  38. We need to fear for our safety with Trudeau and his crew as well. We can joke about Trump building a wall to the South but he may put up an invisible one to the North which we will become aware of every time we try cross the border.

  39. What’s happening in Europe and Scandinavia should be a warning to North America.
=This is What Happens to Countries that Muslims Occupy =
As long as the Muslim population remains around or under 2% in any given country, they will be for the most part be regarded as a “peace-loving minority”, and not as a threat to other citizens. This is the case in:
    United States — Muslim 0.6%
    Australia — Muslim 1.5%
    Canada — Muslim 1.9%
    China — Muslim 1.8%
    Italy — Muslim 1.5%
    Norway — Muslim 1.8%
At 2% to 5%, they begin to proselytize from other ethnic minorities and disaffected groups, often with major recruiting from the jails and among street gangs. This is happening in:
    Denmark — Muslim 2%
    Germany — Muslim 3.7%
    United Kingdom — Muslim 2.7%
    Spain — Muslim 4%
    Thailand — Muslim 4.6%
From 5% on, they exercise an inordinate influence in proportion to their percentage of the population. For example, they will push for the introduction of halal food (clean by Islamic standards), thereby securing food preparation jobs for Muslims. They will increase pressure on supermarket chains to feature halal on their shelves — along with threats for failure to comply. This is occurring in:
    France — Muslim 8%
    Philippines –Muslim 5%
    Sweden — Muslim 5%
    Switzerland — Muslim 4.3%
    The Netherlands — Muslim 5.5%
    Trinidad & Tobago — Muslim 5.8%
At this point, they will work to get the ruling government to allow them to rule themselves (within their ghettos) under Sharia, the Islamic Law. The ultimate goal of Islamists is to establish Sharia law over the entire world.
Sweden shows what becomes common at 5% Muslim occupation, and how political correctness ignores it and buries the stories.
“Muslim Rape Epidemic in Sweden and Norway — Authorities Look the Other Way.”
    http://fjordman.blogspot.dk/2005/02/muslim-rape-epidemic-in-sweden-and.html
Sweden: A New Hell for Women
    http://www.d-intl.com/2013/10/15/sweden-a-new-hell-for-women/?lang=en
When Muslims approach 10% of the population, they tend to increase lawlessness as a means of complaint about their conditions. In Europe we’ve seen car-burnings, riots, and now terrorist attacks. As a group they simply cannot be trusted.
They won’t integrate and will always want special treatment. We already have a large group of first immigrants who do that. We don’t need any more.

  40. OK, what do we in Canada do about the fool we have in the Office of Prime Minister? How many rejected by the US will flood into Canada now that Trudeau has said they will be be welcomed?

We’re still here!! Thank you Queen Mother!

  43. I think you are close Orson.. The fear of EU Democratic countries is that the incompetent politicians are rejected and that Russia become the defacto choice… The AGW fraud destroying Energy & wealth, adding refugee hords that threaten State sovereignty that the EU in Brussels hoped would create a World Order… may result in a rush to embrace Russia..
The UK does not want to have to admit their stupidity in Climate change policies.. Waste of wealth.. They hope the USA
will provides leadership and cover.. I hope Trump dumps & flushes the Paris nonsense, such that the fools will have to answer to their citizens… Better to face the truth
The Trump ban on immigration & refugees is not about Muslims. It is an indictment of USA incompetence. The leadership failure… by the Wrong people, in the wrong place, at the wrong time. The failure of the USA system..Once Trump has confidence in ability of the system to detect & prevent “Radicalized Islamic Terrorists” the USA will return to normal.
