Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Was there any success for the new conservative party in Ontario?
Nothing of note unfortunately.
Not one single bit.
Just like the September 2021 federal election…
New Blue Party 2.72%
Ontario Party (Derek Sloan) 1.8%
Ontario Libertarian Party 0.11%
Populist Party of Ontario 0.06%
Freedom Party of Ontario 0.05%
Ontario Provincial Confederation of Regions Party 0.01%
https://rtr.elections.on.ca/RealTimeResults/en/province
Close to 5% for the conservative side, not so bad.
The province is split 50/50 more or less between the left and the centre+right.
“Close to 5% for the conservative side, not so bad.”
Yeah, if only those ego driven morons could unite instead of trying to out pure one another it would be a step in the right direction. I voted Ontario Party, wife voted New Blue, both votes should have gone to the same party. But no, Jacobins will accept nothing but purity. Their purity. Only their purity. ARRRRRGH.
My wife & I seriously considered doing the same as you – then we thought (realized?) we were tossing our votes away and so both voted for the cons. Perhaps next time……
colon
and that Bullshit coming from a nit wit like you, geezus boy, you have NO self awareness!
Amen, and ignore GYM. He’ll be gunning for me next.
My point was simply that, for me, there was a surprisingly high number of votes for the new conservative leaning parties (which is a positive sign).
Col, ignore Gym’s demagogic name-calling. Your comment is well taken. If real conservatives want to be effective, they have to take action and hold a conference with the intention of merging all the tiny parties. Leadership and organization count for a lot.
LOL of course you’d complain about ego driven morons while voting for the party created by and for the worst one. Derek Sloantroll has no place in any serious organization.
Rather than your … impurity? I guess. Lemme see, however. A vote for Ford brings lockdowns, masks and vaccine pressure, fiscal disaster etc. Good on you. At least, you didn’t vote Liberal or NDP for the same things.
what right? more like 95-5, Ford is a big government social justice, massive spending squish. Ontario “conservatives” are left of center.
Yes, well, everything is relative…
The centre is left of centre.
When you vote for the lesser of the evils you are voting for evil. However we are between a rock and a hard place at every level.
Almost like these are fringe parties that do not resonate with most people. But hey, keep doing your thing.
Not entirely true. Strategic voting to hopefully keep schools open and not have our kids injected with experimental gene therapies. We’ll see.
That’s why I’m not voting any more. So we elected a Progressive Con. Big Whoop. We get the same fascism we would have got if we’d voted for either of the other parties. Nothing Changes.
Well, exactly. Whomever you vote for, they are representing someone other than you.
Well if it’s any consolation.
Jean Charest now has a party leadership he can run for.
Heard he has experience leading a caucus that can fit in a minivan.
Dougie wins again. Is it cause for rejoicing?
Would you rather have the Liberals or the NDP?
Thank you for stating that, Joe.
Ford’s greatest asset is the whackjob mentality of the Libs and Dips. I firmly believe that this was not a victory or endorsement for Dougie as much as a rejection of where the other 2 would take the province.
Disheartening.
Maybe the ghost of Ford past will visit him, and he can have a Dickensian conversion?
“Would you rather have the Liberals or the NDP?”
No, they just settled for Liberal Lite.
Doesn’t matter, you get their policies anyway because Canadian (so called) conservative politicians are gutless cowards either afraid of being called nasty names or totally in on the grift.
No it is not, it is probably the least bad feasible result, but, I did not vote for him this time. I voted Ontario Party. It wasn’t the lockdowns, it wasn’t even the noodle spine when faced with focus groups, it was the persecution of Freedom Convoy truckers that was the last straw.
Voting doesn’t work.
All that is presented to us is a Hobson’s Choice.
I voted for myself and spoiled my ballot.
F*ck the Fat Basturd and his minions.
Per Mark Twain, “If voting actually mattered, they wouldn’t let us do it”.
Hadn’t heard that one before. Thanks
It was persecution of conservative member MPs that was the last straw for me.
That too.
Yup!
No. For two years he has demonstrated a complete lack of character and helped Trudeau ruin the country and he now offers Liberal policies and thinks by sidling up to the unions, he is working for the common man. Well, no. Grrrrr.
Still, in my opinion, the best possible outcome given the alternatives. I didn’t vote for the fat bastard either. A lot of good that did. Maybe having the election during the summer may have had something to do with the low turnout. Just a wild guess.
June is summer? Not in this part of the world. Even Vancouver is barely breaking 20 degrees.
The unions he received endorsements from are trades unions mainly involved in the private sector. All the teacher and othe main government unions endorsed the commies.
Guess he had the nicest hair
Damn, the socialist left winger won.
At least the signs will be gone. Eventually.
It was an election to see who could promise the most free stuff. The fascist PCs beat the socialist Liberals, the communist NDP, and the wacko Greens.
+++OJ. Let’s see where he goes with the ongoing whu who flu, because that insanity is not over yet.
Mandates coming back???
Spot on OJ.
Year ago Mark Steyn described political discourse on CBC: (from memory): “A center left host moderates the discussion between the soft left, the hard left and the loony left.” Applies perfectly to Morontario.
Steyn is generally spot on.
Can’t argue with that, OJ.
More proof of what we already know: 95 percent of the electorate are helpless children.
Spot on OJ.
Voter turnout 43%.
Makes that 5% for ‘fringe’ look relatively impressive.
Agree…they should have united.
Conservatives can’t seem to unite. Two conservatives will agree on 9 of 10 things, but because they don’t agree on the tenth, they’ll vote differently.
Result?
Someone who opposes their position on 7 out of 10 things gets elected, and the conservatives get nothing.
So what are the things that Ford stands for that are different than Trudeau or Del Duca?
Ring of fire development.
Infrastructure spending.
Limits on money for ps unions and welfare bums.
The Liberals should contact the Biden administration to learn how to:
a) collect votes
b) count votes
For the first time since turning 18, I did not vote. I have given up. I have no hope for our government, politicians or country. Sad times for me.
Me too. Voting changes nothing and makes them think they have legitimacy.
I know the feeling. I can’t berate you. My wife and I went out and voted for a “none-of-the-above” candidates, knowing full well what the results would be. She asked, “Why do we even bother?”
“Well, it used to be genuine concern, but we know we’re not going to change anything.” I said. “So I guess at this point we’re still voting just so we can say we did our best to stop the )(*&^%$g mess.”
I guess it’s our virtue signaling.
That’s exactly what voting is.
That is the feeling for a lot of people.
A Pyrrhic victory perhaps. “A pyrrhic victory is a victory that inflicts such a devastating toll on the victor that it is tantamount to defeat. Such a victory negates any true sense of achievement or damages long-term progress.” Indeed. Rob Ford has moved so far left and acts so much like a Liberal in order to win, that it is truly a pyrrhic victory for any conservative. Sadly it is the lesser of many evils, but it is still evil.
Rob Ford is dead.
I think you meant “Doug Ford.”
We got his brother – he was cheaper.
yep. Wrong fat blueberry. Point of the post is still the same.
How true,Rob Ford has been a reliable Liberal voter, ever since his death.
Canadians don’t believe in small government.
Its a lost cause and goes with all the other Canadian attributes that have gone into the toilet.
That’s why we are a self-defence-less nation.
We are indebted into thralldom.
Pedos and mental defectives make policy & educational programs.
Its illegal to call out stupid bastards who are women, “visible-minorities” or alphabet people.
The re-election of 3F and the Cons may well be the least putrid, but its still rotten.
The “government should DO something” is the mantra of the Ontario & Canadian voter. On average, a stupid fkn idiot.
Pretty much sums it up.
Buddy.
That right there says it all….
“…The “government should DO something” is the mantra of the Ontario & Canadian voter. On average, a stupid fkn idiot…”
I expect similar result in Alberta in a cpl yrs..
UCP will win, some Kenney Clone will be premier and his first activity being getting fitted for Knee Pads…
Precisely.
Yesterday at radio AM they were BSing about ‘federal liberal brand’ which as per those ‘experts’ it HAD to translate in big gains for Liberals in Ontario. I was like for God sakes, what liberal brand, you morons?!? Scumbag Trudeau + retarded midget Freeland & co screwed us every time, a total imbecile and a liar, a petty little entitled dictator with no clue about real gov and no character whatsoever cheered and applauded by a group of fellow clueless liars – Libranos+NDPers and propped up by slave/paid-for media, this is federal liberal brand.
Lo and behold, they failed to reach in Ontario party status again. I wish Trudeau&co the same fate.
” …. entitled dictator with no clue about real gov and no character whatsoever cheered and applauded by a group of fellow clueless liars … they failed to reach in Ontario party status…:
What are you talking about? Blubber Douggie won, didn’t he?
Actually, you’re pretty close to bang on the mark. The Ontario Liberals were politically exterminated AGAIN after the party was demolished under the leadership of Kathleen Wynne the first time in 2018. What the past two elections showed is that except for certain dark neighborhoods in rundown sections of Toronto and those of the deluded woke elite like Rosedale, Ontario is no real repository of socialism. It tends to be moderately conservative in personal outlook, slightly progressive is social outlook, tends toward fiscal conservatism and tolerant of ethnic divisions.
Del Duca’s campaign hit all the wrong notes here, which is why all the toss-up ridings between Libs and Dips went against him. There is still deep resentment in the province against Wynne and her dismal predecessor Premier Dad. Del Duca was just more of the same and got the reward he deserved.
As to Trudeau, he lucked out enormously in the last federal elections in Ontario. He managed to win lots of seats by very narrow margins. That’s the only reason he’s Prime Minister today, essentially lots of successful coin tosses that went in his favour. Having a twit as PC Leader didn’t help much either.
But it won’t happen again. The loathing of Trudeau is far too baked into small town Ontario. And as shown by the losses to the PCs in Thunder Bay and Timmins, the Libs/Dips are losing any grip on the labour union/working class vote as well. Jagmeet Singh getting run out of town by his own actually means quite a lot. Give a different leader a chance and the PCs will have quite a different outcome next time.
But Dan, you are right, regardless of the bilge on AM radio or the Red Star. There is no real Liberal brand in Ontario. Justatwit and Jughead have made it truly, deeply unpopular.
superb assessment. been watching the parliament hill and queens park riff raff a long time.
this is all spot on. and succinct.
So Dan, At least you can say about of all the pleading of “the government must do something” Well they did do something! Nothing useful, helpful, or of consequence, or anything that we might approve of, but they did do something, right??? …..right? sigh.
He thinks he has enough suburban support, watch out rural Ontario. 1.5 million new home pledge, every acre of decent farm land within the development sight of a city is gone. I am foreseeing a tsunami of trouble heading for Ontario and elsewhere in the Western nations. The irrationality will surge. Who was the wise one who once commented ‘We need a famine’? Her wish may come true sooner rather than later. We have the famine of the mind and soul of Canada happening now, the wealth and heritage of generations being maladsorbed by the diseased body politic and the millions of leeches. The real famine will begin when the entrepreneurial movement says, ‘To hell with it’. The Bolsheviks never prosper and people will be ripping boards off the fences of their neighbors ala Dr. Zhivago.
Just under half of the PC caucus will be GTA seats. The member from the GTA campaigned for GTA votes with GTA policies and won GTA seats and will govern for the GTA just like he did last term.
The one positive is that Jagmeet’s brother lost his NDP seat.
” 1.5 million new home pledge, every acre of decent farm land within the development sight of a city is gone.”
Good. We need more housing not more farms.
Actually, we need both. Unfortunately climate change isn’t happening fast enough to open up new land for farming in the north.
Maybe in a couple of hundred years…
No we don’t need more farms we actually need less because of productivity gains. That’s why the amount of land under the till is gradually shrinking. Would shrink a lot more without subsidies and biofuel mandates.
Not with the no-fertilizer mandates you irrational WEF hysterics want to bring in to fight “climate change”.
Exactly, Waterhouse. And, consequently, the price of foodstuffs go up, as well. You gotta go around that field anyway. The fuel, labor & equipment cost of cultivating, seeding, spraying & harvesting will be the same, but the yields will be less without fertilizer.
And who is going to feed them, stupid?
Vertical farms.
One thing I have learned about Progressive Conservative parties, the ‘Progressive’ always eventually cancels out the ‘Conservative’. I don’t understand how any non-leftard could support Ford, he proved over the past 2 yrs he is just another tyrannical elitist… the morbidly obese prick.
But then, I am still befuddled how any non-leftard could support the overtly leftist CPC.
Ford had the greatest advantage any mediocre party could have: Opponents even worse than he is. I voted not to elect him but to vote against the Liberals.
Exactly. At least Dougie put an end to non-stop windmill building. And has said he hates those monstrosities. And only the prog Cons are supportive of hunters and not totally beholden to gun control (i.e., the others hope to get rid of guns for all except the military, police and of course Aboriginals). It’s not much, but better than the alternatives.
“At least Dougie put an end to non-stop windmill building.”
Not in Stormont County, he didn’t.
Its bizarre how the bought and paid for media gave so much coverage to the wacko Green Party during the election. Now that the election is over, they still are talking about the Greens like they narrowly lost becoming the government.
I found that pretty bizarre as well. They’re giving a guy with 1 seat equal time to the other leaders.
A couple of things. Printed and radio media are zero reflection of what people are talking about on the ground.
Everyone here at SDA knows that but more people are coming inside the tent.
The entire world lost it’s mind for two years. Even the reddest states shut down everything, playgrounds, parks etc.
The key was to see who wanted to get out as fast as possible. Florida, Texas and Western Canada and they have been rewarded. If Ford goes the contrition route, and he can now, he can put pressure and embarrass the so-called Liberal brand. VOWG is right, we are not out of this yet. Let’s see what direction the PC’s go.
“Let’s see what direction the PC’s go.”
Ha! That’s an easy one. Whatever way the Trawna Press Winds blow.
Just wait for 2024.
Any election that sees the NDP leader and the liberal leader quit is a good election. Not a Ford fan myself but you have to count your blessings.
Even if they lost because they were commie-checkmated?
As I said I’m not a Ford fan, but he’s not a commie. The poor showing by the the ‘conservative’ parties shows that the people of Ontario aren’t buying what they’re selling, ditto the out and out socialist parties. Ford is obviously in their comfort zone.
Or it shows corporate media blocked or otherwise ‘massaged’ their conservative campaign messages.
No truly conservative-minded party can campaign fairly in today’s media landscape. Period.
“…but he’s not a commie…”
He isn’t? Sure as hell felt like commie-ism for the past two years. He killed small private businesses, pissed all over freedoms, called in his goons on peaceful protestors, and isolated and stigmatized those of us who chose independence of thought and action.
Agree with you 100%, I’m disgusted with every politician that chose to enforce lockdowns and mandates. But itwas a time of unprecedented uncertainty and any politician that bucked the stupidity was getting blamed for every death and every new case. Very few chose the right path. Everything he did was a case of ‘monkey see, monkey do’. I’m just saying I’d rather see Ford win than the NDP or liberals.
It’s often said, “a Liberal campaigns to the right and governs to the left. A Conservative campaigns to the left and governs to the right.” We’ll see how far left the party has gone.
BINGO Arty …. I can’t believe all the whining on here that Ford isn’t conservative enough etc. ….. In Alberta we had folks protest and not vote or vote NDP thinking they could never get in and were stuck with Red Rachel and her commie lite NDPers for 4 years …. they switched the coal power generators to Natural Gas and now with rising nat gas prices the cost of electricity is soaring and we are sitting on hundreds of years of coal reserves.
It could be worse and a lot worse.
How did Ford do it?
The eligible voters that sit out elections had no compelling reason to come out to vote due to a lack of inspiring leaders.
There were three parties advocating lockdowns and mandates on steroids.
All Ford had to do was be more inspiring than Dr Bunsen Honeydew or Miss Piggy.
The kicker is, he’ll misconstrue the results as a ringing endorsement of his crap policy & carry on, harder & faster.
Perhaps a silver lining to this is that at least there will be an ongoing adversarial press, and ongoing civil service sabotage. That will help in keeping the chaos in the spotlight for all to see. I can hope.
I’ve been a libertarian all my life.
In Canada there is little to differentiate between the mainstream parties. Canadians love a liberal politician no matter what brand they wear.
The same voters who endorse the Bong endorse Ford. That is why the libranos were silent on Ford. It’s better for the libranos to have a Ford ‘PC’ government in Ontario.
Of course we who ‘voted’ have NO IDEA what happened to that fancy card when it went into the cardboard covered machine. Could have been a paper shredder for all we k know
Ontario typically votes one way federally the other provincially. This is probably the best possible outcome. Those NuRight parties are a joke, you don’t get to pretend trucker thug convoys organized in part by white supremacists and COVID denialists are the good guys. Get rekt.
I actually like that the NDP came ahead of the Liberals. Horwath actually had, of all things, a decent idea on housing: ending regulations favoring single family housing. The Liberals just had more ‘tax the speculators’ jenkum. Horwath had almost completely bad ideas but the Liberals are just cynicism and entitlement condensed into a party.
Those of you in Ontario: you’ve done all you can to improve the place with your vote. Now comes the part where you leave. There is no reason to be in Ontario. Save yourself and bail.
Move to Ontario. Jack-ass commentary like that would make you a shoe-in for the NDP leadership.
Good luck!
Good to hear from the retard faction.
And keep regurgitating your dreamboat Justin’s “white supremacist” line, bootlicker. You’ve really got your finger on the pulse with that one.
Off topic here folks but thought everyone might be interested in this book.

Why, that looks like a book for Christmas!
Thanks.
Mandatory vaxxing kids was Del Duca’s position. Thank the Lord that the voters rejected him so strongly.
Additional comment – watching the Royal Jubilee coverage in London I didn’t see one mask. Back in Ontario covering the election I saw many useless cloth masks.
I was in the US and didn’t vote not that it mattered. Same as it ever was.
It would have mattered if you lived in Georgia.
Or in Florida in 2000.
I can’t vote in US elections, however. Unless I die and vote Democrat, that is.
A friend of mine ran in that election as an independent. He had realised that one of the polling divisions in his riding corresponded exactly to his neighbourhood, where he’s lived for a while and has a bit of a profile. He figured he’d campaign in his neighbourhood and see if he could give the established parties a run for their money. His goal was to get 250 votes in his division, and he gave not a thought to the rest of the riding.
On election night, he only got 25 votes in his division; but he got 160 more in the rest of the riding, and ran third amongst several also-rans. I believe he beat the Greens. We discussed this result for some time and eventually agreed it was a moral victory. And he’s on immediate familiar speaking terms now with everybody in the neighbourhood. So, not an important story, but a reminder that there can be some human good even in an Ontario election.
