Not a reader tip but a question to SDAers
Trying to remember a song from the 70s about Alberta some of the lyrics I can remember go like this:
“I am a rainstorm a raging waterfall
I am an ocean of wheat fields growing tall this is Alberta the land of sun
telling us all that we’ve just begun”
I’ve looked all over the net and cannot find it but it was a good song and very popular so I don’t know why it’s memory holed
My wife’s money is on you BA!
I’ve searched for those lyrics and the best I came up with was:
https://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/jamesmcmurtry/canolafields.html
There is this, but it was from about 20 years ago:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alberta_(song)
That’s all I found too BA. hope someone remembers.
Oh, well, we tried…..
By the way, I’m not familiar with that song so that may be one reason I drew a blank.
Nonetheless, McMurtry writes some great songs. Heavy on the cynicism and the white trash lifestyle. The really trick thing about James is that his dad Larry penned Lonesome Dove, and a whole raft of other great Western novels.
The really trick thing about James is that his dad Larry
I wondered about that when I read his name.
Larry McMurtry also wrote The Last Picture Show, which was made into a brilliant movie by Peter Bogdanovich.
Try an inquiry to provincial archives. CKUA radio also has a massive historic collection.

Woman Gored and Thrown 10 Feet by Bison After Getting too Close to Animal at Yellowstone National Park
https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2022/06/woman-gored-thrown-10-feet-bison-getting-close-animal-yellowstone-national-park/
Rode through Yellowstone in 2011 on the Hawg, along with a buddy on another bike. Came through from the Beartooth Pass, beautiful ride. Part way through the park we met a herd of bison walking down the pavement towards us. There was one car in front of us, parting the herd. We were one with his rear bumper as the herd slowly moved past, blowing & snorting a couple feet away on either side. One of the scariest experiences I’ve ever had on the bike. If the car hadn’t been there we would have had to turn around & gone back, a couple hour detour.
My, at the time, teenage son said of the buffalo at Yellowstone when warned, “I don’t have to run very fast. I only have to run faster than the old couple.”
Sadly, touron season is upon us, and Wyoming is not the petting zoo that Disney promised.
I hope the woman recovers quickly.
She’s not the only one who thought that wild animals are pets.
I live in a neighbourhood that has a significant rabbit population. They come onto the property of my apartment and stuff themselves on grass. My fellow tenants and I sort of adopted them as pets by leaving food for them, which, in winter, they greatly appreciate. I leave my offerings near a baseball diamond across the street.
Many years ago, I was near a strip mall on the other side of the freeway and I saw a younger one. Some young lady from a nearby apartment thought, “Awwwww, a cute bunny!” and foolishly walked up to it with a carrot. I warned her not to do that but, instead, to leave it a few paces away from the critter and then back off. I had learned by then that one shouldn’t come to close too animals like that but, instead, to give them space so that they don’t feel threatened.
Did she listen? Of course not. The rabbit did the logical thing and bounded off well out of her reach. She went away disappointed.
I suspect she had watched too many Disney shows.
“You can’t fix stupid.”
Give the bison some credit, he tried.
Animal-lover Murrell here. One can go on YouTube and watch the bison, in various refuge-parks. If tourists get too close, I always root for the bison.
Absolutely, I have seen a lot of idiots getting way too close to moose in Algonquin area. Including braindead daddies piggybacking their children within 10 yards of the animal. It would take a split second for an angry bull or cow to come within hoove reach of the drooling moron. People really have no appreciation how strong they are and how quickly they can move when startled.
Saw a lady jogging in this rural area with a little dog ,told her there was a cow moose with a calf spotted here just about everyday She said Oh a moose won’t hurt you. After the cow was done stomping Toto she’d be next
Funny that (we’ll not for the tourist gored), but in Season 3 of Yellowstone, Buffalo featured rather Prominently….as do your idiot tourists.
Happens in Banff as well, Oriental morons standing 15′ away from a black bear taking g pictures….have seen that on more than 2 occasions.
Another time down in Yellowstone I’d brought along the camera gear, wanted to get a shot of the wolves. It was spring. Came around a corner & there was a yearling grizzly grazing on fresh grass about 20′ off the road. A tour bus had stopped nearby & the entire cadre of Oriental tourists was out, photographing the bear. Some of them were as close as 30 or 40 feet! I moved down the road a stretch, grabbed the long glass & was shooting the bear from probably 75 yards away. A game warden came along & immediately started giving the tourists hell. They reluctantly moved back to the bus. Why there aren’t more stories like the one above is beyond me.
We see a lot of stories about this stuff down here in Wyoming, and the I think it happens a lot more frequently than we know, but the sometimes fortunate ones escape with only their underwear soiled. About 35 years ago I worked for a quality control manager who made the usual mistake with a Yellowstone bison, got too close in attempting a photograph, and got gored. He was in the hospital for a very long time, and carried the side effects for life. He never did walk right after he got out of the hospital, and I suspect he was in pretty constant pain.
Evolution moves on, as ever.
Circle of life Simba.
So you actually go and visit Normandy. Well worth it btw. Bayeux is of course where Bayeux Tapestry is held and it is amusing to be in Normandy and read about the wonderful William at historical sites before jumping across the Channel later in the week and reading about the brutal invader of the same name.
So, you go to Arromanches. This is the beach where the Mulberry harbour slowly rusts and was not actually a D-Day beach. Gold Beach is off to the east about 10km and Juno – the Canadian beach – beyond that. For the Americans Omaha is a good wack off to the West.
Despite not being a landing beach it was of course defended. I was standing on the beach during my visit and idly watching the Dutch battalion play beach soccer and volleyball as part of their afternoon off from… whatever reason they were in Normandy for. Arromanches is in a small shallow valley so the beach rises up back into cliffs on either side. As I look to the right (west) I see the bright red and white cross of an army ambulance truck parked at the start of the cliffs and, with my attention drawn, I realise it is parked alongside an era pill box.
So, throwing my mind back in time. Running up the beach. To my right a pillbox I would never have even seen would be shooting at me and the other troops surrounding me.
This is where Private Ryan got their beach scene wrong. You are not charging a defensive bunker that is firing straight back at you. You are attempting to move forward up the sand hills while guns off to your flanks enfilade you.
Sobering.

Tesla Owner Exposes Dark Secret About Electric Cars

“The doozy was needing new tires at around 28,000 miles,”
Tires largely made from…petroleum.
The new “green” tires will no doubt be made of wood.
Well in the olden days their version of a pickup truck was the buckboard wagon.
It had wood wheels wrapped in a band of steel.
Guess we might be seeing those days again soon.
With all that battery weight to bear, I’m thinking skinny-assed wagon wheels ain’t gonna cut it. Gonna be more like an old Advance Rumely steam tractor.

Oil prices are high because of scarcity artificially created via the actions of the Biden administration. What do they want to do now? Impose an exceptional tax on companies who are experiencing record profits because of the scarcity that is a direct result of Biden’s actions.
Great idea. In a time of oil scarcity, mandate lower profits for oil companies. CERTAINLY that will encourage them to drill more. Because what company doesn’t act to accelerate the depletion of its sole resource, when low profits have been mandated.
These people in the Biden administration are insane.

Ukrainians who’ve fled to Canada can now apply for government income support
OTTAWA — Ukrainians who have fled to Canada due to the Russian invasion of their home country will begin receiving financial support from the federal government in the next five days, Immigration Minister Sean Fraser said Thursday.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced in early April that Ottawa planned to offer money to newly arrived Ukrainians to help them settle in Canada.
The Ukrainian Canadian Congress has criticized the government for not acting on those promises sooner, as thousands of Ukrainians — some without a previously arranged place to stay or much money — have already arrived in the country.
The one-time payment of $3,000 per adult and $1,500 per child will be available to Ukrainians and their family members who arrived under an emergency program that allows them to live, work and study in Canada for up to three years.
The government approved 120,668 applications under the emergency program as of May 25 and more than 35,000 Ukrainians arrived in Canada between Jan. 1 and May 22.

So if i get worms or bots how the f*ck can i treat it.
Ivermectin is explicitly made for this ailment.
Ask your average North Korean defector how its done in South Korea.
Asked a vet friend how Ivermectin helps in Covid cases. Apparently most of us do not have an optimally-acting digestive system, so Ivermectin cleans that up and allows the body to be more efficient in fighting infection.
