I assume his political and cultural views are pretty similar to his old man’s, so I’m surprised he didn’t cancel the US tour out of spite. I had no idea he even had musical talent in the first place, and even if I did I doubt I’d be rushing to get show tickets.
Kiefer Sutherland is the latest artist to be struck down by the so-called ‘Blue Dot Fever,’ cancelling his upcoming U.S. tour over poor ticket sales.
Sutherland has been playing shows overseas in support of his new album, Grey, and posting videos documenting his experience to social media.

Shrug. Another one who “made it” via nepotism.
Like he didn’t make enough from 24 alone…ffs.

I don’t believe Johnny Depp’s band is getting much work outside Mayor Bassomatic’s LA either

Note: @ 2:12 … is how I like to see my women putting all they’ve got into the music
Leon Russell !!!! l saw him at an outdoor concert N Carolina coming back from a motorcycle trip all the way to Key West !!! had to be summer 71 or possibly 72. memorable. and ya, he played his heart out for the crowd. eluded to the fact he was under the weather but he belted them out.
I have a great Leon Russell Greatest Hits Test Pressing … which includes “Tight Rope” … which I like quite a bit.

Leon with Joe Cocker were the best Mad Dogs and Englishmen.
Then Leon recorded “Hank.”
An old school eclectic musician.
Like Dr. John.
They were in the right place, not here in these wrong times…
I believe the greatest musicians are those who have created a unique and instantly identifiable ‘signature sound’ on their instrument and or vocal. Russell was one of those on the piano (and vocals) … as was Billy Preston … as was Elton John … Doctor John, Oscar Peterson … and others.
I saw Hollywood vampires about ten years ago.
Alice Cooper was the highlight. He still put on a show.
Joe Perry looked unhealthy. Think he had a stroke like a month later
Depp was just weird. A caricature of a rock star.
I have observed American celebrity culture for over 60 years. In my opinion most actors/actresses get 10 years at the top in either movies or television. The very lucky few may get 20 years and the really smart ones form production companies and source their own scripts and fund their own projects (good job Brad Pitt, good job Reese Witherspoon). Keifer Sutherland has his 10 years and now is just another older actor coasting on his past successes.
I think the British system is much better in that the actors/actresses actually have formal training and can do live theatre. They are allowed to age into older roles and become character actors. The late Maggie Smith and Judi Dench are excellent examples as they were both “babes” in their 20’s and 30’s and then were allowed to age into more mature roles. Maggie Smith’s last role as the dowager Countess Grantham and her role in the Harry Potter series are the only ones the younger generations know of. She was excellent in “Travels with my Aunt” in 1969.
Apropos of nothing … except your factoid about how few actors have staying power. I guess I had never remembered, or noticed it before … but the tv show Star Trek was a Desilu Production. Yes, speaking of longevity and business smarts … Lucille Ball’s Production Co.
I started watching a really in-depth series on the history of Star Trek … and the Desilu story was episode #1. The Star Trek series SAVED Desilu from bankruptcy… and Desilu SAVED Star Trek which had been rejected by all other production companies. Lots more involved … but that’s the shorthand. Who knew a goofball Redhead comedienne produced a cutting edge sci fi series?
I can still remember the first episode in 1965-ish … my brother and I were both huge sci-fi fans … having grown up on 1950s B sci fi movies and literally wet our pants at an up to date sci fi series with all the state of the art *snicker* special effects.
“I started watching a really in-depth series on the history of Star Trek ”
I did too…Gates McFadden was narrating part of it. I just wish there had been a picture of Lucy or Desi with the Star Trek cast, but it sounds like they had nothing to do with the production but financing it.
Like you, I loved the show and never missed it. That, and Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. Good times.
Richard Basehart!
Gawwd … the GIANT swirling garbage patch of useless information that’s stuck inside the oceans of my brain
IDK … some of the early Star Trek episodes were so corny … that LUCY! LUCY! must have been involved *snicker*

Marc … allow me yet another a true story …
When coaching my daughter’s competitive soccer team, I scheduled a tournament … a quality tournament with quality teams in … yes … why else would we be there … Visalia, CA. A long drive to nowhere. I had scheduled the team to stay at the nicest hotel in downtown Visalia … yes it was actually taller than 3-stories.
We checked in … walked to the elevator … pressed the button … the doors opened … and … and … out walked a Ferenghi, Vulcan, and some blue faced woman. Yes. We had unwittingly checked into a Star Trek convention. Facepalm. They were EVERYWHERE… the whole weekend. We must have looked like alien humans to the horde of full cosplaying Trekkies.
I learned then and there that Star Trek conventions were actual REAL things. And yes, inhabited by JUST the kind of people you imagined. Those kids who never felt … safe … in HS, because of their inescapable oddity.
While touring through New England a few years ago, we stumbled onto this.

I’ll go you one better: in the pilot episode of Knight Rider, Wilton Knight is played by Richard Baseheart. It’s a direct call back to his role in Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea.
Daniel … your patch of useless info beats the crap out of mine.
“I had no idea he even had musical talent in the first place, ”
ummmmm, because he doesnt? *acting* is *acting* live music is one of most REAL things one can do.
acting is called ‘roll, cut, take 25 can we get it right before the end of the day please?’
LIVE music is like LIVE stage plays. different discipline altogether.
it is acceptable to go from live music to acting, Kris Kristofferson style do not DARE presume ‘the other way around’ is a given. it aint. ask Gary Sinese, ask Kevin Bacon, even ask the late Johnny Crawford the kid from Rifleman.
in conclusion: nepos ufts. actors, stay in your lane.
and another thing on ticket sales? give it another decade or so and the days of ‘$4,000 for front row seats’
gonna be LOOONNNGGGG gone. when 4K is 1/6 that year’s discretionary spending. that’ll do it !!
methinks the NEXT ‘depression’ gonna make ’29 resemble ‘austerity plus’. they did however survive.
not this time. entrenched leftoidal systems, mindsets, the old ‘fighting human nature’ thing WILL exacerbate it.
then the corruption will finish them off. (them who?)
L – Liberal red dot fever ate up the disposable income from most Canadians.
During the Great Depression of the 1930s, there were times when prairie people survived on one meal a day. Those Canadians failing to opt for Independence are headed that way under the post nation-state of Mark Carnage.
yep.
reason #47 to BAIL NOW
The ego-driven nepo baby can suck it.
He’s chosen … poorly
https://people.com/tv/why-kiefer-sutherland-decided-not-to-give-up-alcohol/
Heard that he had a band. Have never heard one of his songs. Wouldn’t pay more than $40 for a ticket.
Same for most others.
Legitimate music stars like Bryan Adams I will pay to see but certainly nothing over $150.
