  1. L – One could argue that it was the great stories of ancient Greece, Rome and the Biblical narratives and variations thereof; that inspired the creation of Western Civilization. The great books and plays and popular literature reflecting that was the basis of the age of the cinema and TV movies. But no more in the age of Identity politics/post-modernism/Cult. Marxism, as living on the corpse of even a dead whale can only go on so long.

    1. I once read (back in the dark ages of the 1980’s) that our species, Homo Sapiens, not only are tool makers/users, we are story tellers. We are unique in that no other species (correct me if I am wrong) tells stories. The higher primates and perhaps the herding species DO teach their young how to survive and work in groups, but to actually make up a story and tell it with all of the accompanying facial and body gestures is unique to us.

I am a 74 year old woman who prefers watching Brit Box and British stories. The British seem to have a better grasp on this and they train their actors/actresses more rigidly with body movement, horse riding, how to do sword fights. They also allow their performers to age into character roles – just think of Dame Maggie Smith, Judi Dench and so many others. Perhaps I am becoming an “old fart”!

    2. interesting take on things. aka like l have said countless times. ‘if thats true everything fits’
l think last theater movie l watched was Ron Howard’s thing about the whaling ship ‘Heart of the Sea’.
dey sho’ aint makin’ dey millions off me . . . . .

    1. They still don’t dare to say it, even though they can see the sandcastle melting right out from under their feet. The retribution that will fall on anyone in Hollyweird who says the truth, that it’s all down to the Woke, will be terrible.

We all know it’s that, but nobody who works there can say it. That’s why I like the Critical Drinker and Nerdrotic etc. Those guys don’t give a rat’s @$$, they’ll call a spade a f-ing shovel.

    2. The Liberals did it! Again.
      Killed off half their audience.
      The half with money.
Put everyone to sleep with their woke crap.

      Oh, and that Covid thing.
When are Liberals going to pay for that little attempt to take over the world and nearly destroying it?
Liberals and Liberals only own that.

Well, feckless Conservatives did do their usual turtle.

  2. The last time I went to a movie theatre to watch a movie was when the original Lord of the Rings trilogy came out. And then, only because my brother wanted my kids to see it. Don’t remember whether he paid my ticket as well as the kids. Probably not.

  3. People still go to movie theatres? How adorable.
I guess there’s some out there who enjoy sharing space with noisy jag offs in front, beside and behind you. Getting shivved at the concession stand is always an added treat.
Movie theatres are kind of like public transit…only the bus ain’t moving.
    Just die already.

    1. Suffice to say movie theaters are no longer inhabited by … my people. Nope. They’re inhabited by … them. And their wilding behavior isn’t what I purchased a ticket to watch. I’m forever done with movie theaters … haven’t been in at least 10 years. Don’t believe I’ve missed anything.

  4. I recommend Los Angeles be renamed New Detroit. Amazing they can’t just figure out why?

  5. Went to see Anger Management with friends who brought their 3 adolescent children. The mother is a clinical therapist.
Small venue, packed. About 20 minutes in the movie stops. We wait about another 20, all the treats eaten, then leave.
A message there. Never did see the rest of it.
