  1. Those who don’t learn from history…
Anyone with a reasonable knowledge of customers and market dynamics knows YOU CAN’T PUSH A ROPE UP A HILL.

Most distressing about this is the obvious tendency by manufacturers to react not to what customers want but to what industry and government (there’s that f***ing word again) tells them customers need. I believe it reflects a destructive tendency by most firms to ignore their sales staff. By and large, sales people know best what customers want and what they will therefore buy.

  2. I’ll bet Dougy hopes he’s dead before the battery plant boondoggle, blows up for all to see. They shouldn’t be able to sweep that one under the rug. But you never know the I see nothing crowd has had lots of practice.

  3. ” … the company says it will write off massive losses as a result.”

A rather imperfect translation of the original Japanese text that said, “Ha ha! We soon screw you!”

  4. L – Japanese auto company writes off a negative $15 billon investment in a 0 series of electric automobiles. Hopefully, their stockholders have a sense of humour and don’t order the C.E.O. to commit Hara Kiri.

As I recall, the WW2 Japanese fighter plane, named the Zero, was used as a suicide vehicle against allied ships in WW2. The fighter pilots were taught to scream “Banzai” during that last dive. Ironically, the Zero fighter plane was a more practical investment than the 0 line of electric vehicles. Did Honda use Carbon “Net Zero” Carney as their marketing advisor? If so, the honourable thing for them to require of him to do would be…

  5. I hope Honda is alright after this blows over. Seriously, there are a couple other vehicle manufacturers which I think do good work and I’d much rather drive in those vehicles than whatever replaces them from China.

Whatever I drive in the future, will look like one of those Cuban taxi cabs before I’m in a Chinese built car, it’s not going to make a difference to me if it’s Honda Toyota Mazda … I like a couple of domestic vehicles too.

I blame the various governments all over the world for this, and the 99% of MSM which has supported it, and “some” of the auto manufacturers.

“Good luck Jaguar, and don’t call me”

  6. 1. I hope that Honda’s investment wasn’t part of Trump’s negotiated repatriation of manufacturing in the USA. Did the SCOTUS do this?
    2. Every other automobile in my upper, upper, leftist CA suburban wonderland is a Tesla or other high end EV. We are ground zero for EV adopters … but no one in my town would be caught dead driving a Honda EV …
