Elbows Up, Comrades

We sure were lucky to get this new Governor.

Think food inflation in Canada is high? You haven’t seen anything yet.

New food inflation data will be released Tuesday, February 17. Early signals suggest January’s rate could come in around 6.2% — a significant acceleration.

Meanwhile, in the United States, despite tariff pressures and ongoing trade tensions, food inflation eased to 2.9%, down from 3.1% in January.

That gap matters.

  1. A government that was interested in the best interests of citizens would structure taxes and policies to keep essential items like housing, food, energy and utilities as affordable as possible. Canadian governments have done the exact opposite and imposed taxes and polices which has led to increased poverty, food bank usage and homelessness. What does that tell you about Canadian politicians?

Canada need to quit putting those who are intellectually stunted in power, Kanadian politicians are all about politicking, and not leading. To full grasp that, one needs to look at the back room , to see who is actually running things. And according to my very well connected friends, it’s not who most think it is.

      1. Canada has not had a federal government that wòrked in the interest of regular Canadians, especially in the Canadian prairies, in my lifetime. Mostly they are interested in their own bank accounts, gaining personal wealth from public office.

They’ve been using wedge politics and divide and conquer to stay in power. They’ve been doing this (and also stealing) for so long that everyone think it’s normal. The problem with a normalised policy of wedge politics is that it inevitably creates cracks and unrepairable divisions – by socioeconomic class, language, race, religion, by region and by provinces. A breakup of Canada is inevitable. A severely dysfunctional, abusive family that inevitably becomes estranged from one another.

I’ve been saying precisely the same things for decades.

          1. It’s a crazy dysfunctional pattern. Ignore everything that is being been stolen by the political class then thank politicians who bribe you with a few crumbs to get your vote. Not just taxpayer money has been stolen but also economic prosperity, constitutional rights and freedoms, community safety, etc.

      1. I doubt it would change anything. Central and eastern Canadian voters would continue to vote for the same type of politicians. Wedge politics and expolitation of the West has been an economic benefit to those regions. That’s all they care about, not political corruption.

        1. In discussions about separation, I frequently bring up the political cartoon, “The Milch Cow”. As some know, it was published in the December 15, 1915 edition of the Grain Growers Guide.

Ten years after we became provinces, AB & SK knew we were being f’d over by Eastern Canada. Now here we are, 121 years later, & some idiots still think we can vote or negotiate ourselves into a better position w/ the Laurentian Elite.

I always ask, “Since 1915, what’s changed?”. Most people will respond, “Nothing.” I disagree. The bastards are still screwing over the West, but they’ve become more brazen. They aren’t even trying to hide it anymore.

          WEXIT!

          1. It’s changed. The rest of Canada went from milking the cow to poisoning the cow while still suckling. The rest of Canada, under Trudeau’s Liberal government, still wants to redistribute the wealth of the West while simultaneously strangling the energy, agriculture and mining industries. Destroying the very wealth generator they rely on…bloody geniuses in the ROC. Explains their voting pattern and their economic decline.

          2. Silly, silly Canadians … LOTS has changed since 1915. In particular that one cow has become millions of cows because white settlers have an addiction to eating beef and are pumping out planet killing methane … hence they need to be culled from Canadian farms.

Oh! And cows milch is “bad for you” … loaded with hormones that are turning our little boys into dress-wearing mass murderers …. I read that in Mother Jones or something

  2. An open question: Assuming (bear with me for a second) that the federal situation we currently find ourselves in is due to simple stupidity & incompetence. What would the pricks do differently if they actually intended to create a 3rd world shithole?

    1. my adage about evidence applies, aka ‘if thats true it explains everything’.
having watched politicians in Canaduh since early 60s, BA poli sci 1995, participated briefly,
what l see now saddens me because its just going to get worse.
every time l lament a Liberal government we get another one.
then blubber dougie shows up and shows how bereft of alternatives and any hope we are.

AB you have to leave. there will come a point they will drag you down with them.
get out. it will only get worse, they will continue to pick your pocket the only solution is to become the newest nation on earth.
      get
      out
      now.

        1. I am pessimistically optimistic about it. I will be elated when Alberta gets out of this toxic relationship. However, I expect we will be leaving on a gurney instead of our own two feet.

  3. There is another gap that matters, which is growth. The US 4-4.5% Canada -1-0%. The US is growing with a suddenly no growth population, while Canada is shrinking with a growing population. We will get another 6% poorer vis a vis the US this year alone.

    1. Well … if you all would simply get on board with the Net-Zero Revolution … then you could be creating an endless number of “clean-green-sustainable-jobs” … And Canada would be wealthier beyond imagination! You could all be living the indigenous dream … before the white settlers came to destroy everything they touched.

That’s what the CBC and the Canadian govt. taught me.

  4. It looks to me that our government is like the Mafia, only without any principles whatsoever.

  5. “You haven’t seen anything yet.”

And this is where Poilievre is wrong.
Shit isn’t broken, its smoothly spiralling downward (or cost-wise, upward) as per the plan.

Newsflash: Liberals Hate Canadians and Canada.
