    Suppose a skin-and-bones, obviously underweight person went to a doctor and said, “I’m fat.” And the doctor, instead of referring him/her for anorexia, replied, “You’re right! Let’s get you on some meds and a diet to help you lose weight.” Is the doctor helping that person, or is that straight up malpractice?

    2. They already did this with obese people — “health at any size”. Medical professionals can’t use certain words…like “obese” any more, among other ridiculous (and very unhealthy) things.
      People died from it too. While unlike this situation it was self-imposed — although I question how much agency a child who was allowed to become morbidly obese or anorexic has due to lack of self-awareness — nonetheless it does bring up an interesting point: do you have some responsibility (especially if you are in certain professions) to tell people that they are doing unhealthy things to themselves, and that they should perhaps stop it?

      And that does rather tie into this very sad story.

        I just read a book by Melanie Phillips called “The World Turned Upside Down.”
        Written in 2010 and even more relevant now.
        She researched and argues compellingly on how the West has devolved to what we have before us.
        It is one of the best explanations of progressivism and its myriad effects on our once common culture and values. It covers Islamism, irrational ‘science,’ ideological capture of institutions, and also has an excellent contextual explanation for antisemitism and the plight of the Jews.
        Core to her argument is how we abandoned Reason, which has led to the irrational dystopia we are living through.

  9. There was a concerned woman on Bannon’s War Room (in the second half this AM) who said there were reports of the shooter’s mother having posted on Reddit asking for help for her son. His psychiatric care wasn’t helping, he was taking 280mg Zoloft or 2.8x the high dose, in addition to a laundry list of other meds. Seeking other opinions is 100% normal behavior for most mom’s…

    I blame the gov’t, the BC big health (actually all of big health), the media, for enabling this, and legislation passed making transition therapy illegal, voted for unanimously in our garbage parliament.
    The person who did this, was a male, and not a woman in a dress, and not a “gunperson” as the garbage RCMP refers to him as.

    One fine December day in 1989, Gamil Rodrigue Liass Gharbi, the bastard of an Algerian Muslim, Rachid Gharbi, by a French Canadian Catholic nurse, Monique Lépine, brought a semiautomatic rifle to the École polytechnique in Montreal, and went on a shooting spree, targeting women for death. Gharbi shot 14 women dead and wounded 10 more (along with four men who got in his way) before killing himself.

    The name your moral and intellectual superiora used to refer to Gamil Gharbi was Marc Lépine, the French name he had given himself. (Monique ran away from Rachid when Gamil was seven, taking Gamil with her, after Rachid threatened to kill her and the bastard. Gamil, by all accounts an incurable mama’s boy, took his mother’s name.)

    It was easier to use the worst mass shooting in Canadian history up to that point as an excuse to make it harder for law-abiding Canadians to own or use firearms (which the Progressive “Conservative” government of the day promptly did), and not as a prompt to re-think Canadian immigration policy, if the perp could be portrayed as a White Canadian and not as an Algerian Muslim.

    Fortunately in 2026 it’s gotten harder to control the narrative and make the story about how it’s too easy to own a gun—and not about how it’s impossible to institutionalize the criminally insane, no matter how clear and present the danger, until *after* the lunatic has succeeded in killing his family, half his graduating class and himself.

      1. Postscript: Jennifer Strang, by all reliable accounts, paid for ruining her son’s soul with her life.

        Monique Lépine claims she learnt about the attack on television, and prayed for the murderer’s mother, not realizing at first the murderer was her own son. Taking that account at face value requires a genuine belief in God not in evidence.

        We do know that Gamil Gharbi, for reasons he took to hell, decided to spare the mother who, after leaving Gamil’s father had neglected Gamil and his sister for most of his childhood in favour of her nursing career.

        Monique’s daughter was driven to cocaine abuse by the shame of being Gamil’s sister, dying of an overdose in 1996.

        Monique herself, who has no shame, has done fairly well for herself since her son’s murder-suicide, speaking about what it’s like to be the mother of a mass murderer to anybody who will pay her to do so and who won’t dare suggest that maybe, just maybe, Monique could have done something to prevent this.

          So Lepine was buried in an unmarked grave at public expense.

  14. I wonder if they are doing a thorough scan of the shooter’s internet footprint. One of the other things that has been evidenced in other cases like this — they’ve popped up like poisonous mushrooms, haven’t they? — is that the shooters had rather interesting online presence.

He is paying out over a billion dollars of our $$ a year to CBC and today I read that JUNO NEWS was the first in the world to report that the Tumbler Ridge horror show was done by a young man and not a gun person wearing a dress.

And she paid for her inability or unwillingness to act with her own life, her family’s lives and the lives of several more innocents.
