There was an old man (“Mr. William Dove”) who bought the corner of my ex father in law’s lot out at Round Lake Sask, and he’d built a 3 seasons cottage on it and because he didn’t have money to live anywhere else I think he lived there year round. Anyways one night about midnight 4 youths came to his door asking if he could help them change a flat tire out front and they’d be on their way. Because he was who he was, he got dressed and went out and changed the tire for the youths, then they beat him to death with a tire iron over his head and left him near Regina…
    Mr. Dove made, painted, and sold wood “garden gnomes” which he painted and sold to the tourists who visited Bird’s Point Resort at Round Lake, to supplement his pension. His survivors were his wife and handicapped daughter. In a decade, I’ll still be bringing this up from time to time…
    The youths were sentenced in youth court to a couple of years each.
    I would like Mr. Dove’s garden gnomes to be the Mayor and city council rather than an owl, not that I dislike owls, I actually really love owls and think they walk kinda cool too…

    1. The drummer, Floyd Sneed was a Calgarian and Tommy Chong’s brother-in-law. Sneed’s grandfather, born in Louisiana, was a black northern Alberta homesteader. His father was a stereotypical black railway porter.

    The Globe and Mail is reporting this morning that the head of the board of directors at the CAAT pension plan has been suspended. He is alleged to have approved a $1.2-million payment to CEO Derek Dobson in lieu of annual vacation pay, and approved a horizontal jogging relationship with Dobson and another CAAT staffer. After the approvals were made, three very senior executive officers immediately resigned, leading to office turmoil.

    The CAAT is an Ontario based union representing technical workers at community colleges plus other Ontario employees. The Globe reports that none of this has been reported to employees at the pensuion plan, nor has anything been mentioned on the CAAT web site.
