Here’s an interview with him and his wife, Nathalie Dompe, in which he fully admits how brainwashed he used to be by the media. Then he did his own research, shed his TDS, and now very much supports Trump. So, a big takeaway is, why are the majority of Canadians incapable of questioning the Official Narratives™ and doing their own research?

Absolutely. And that’s why the average Canadian has no idea what is really happening around them, or why: because they are never told the truth. In the US, you can watch CNN and MSNOW and ABC/CBS/NBC news to get one side of the story…but then you are free to tune into Fox News to get the *other* side of the story. Canadians just don’t have that option. We almost did (with Sun News), but then the Powers That Be refused to grant them the same cable access as the CBC and CTV are guaranteed….and that was the end of that.

Many Canadians believe that being Leftist means being one of the intelligent, educated, thoughtful, nuanced, compassionate ones.

You just described everyone I know here in the SF Bay Area … arrogant know-it alls who believe themselves more clever by half than the general population. This guy and his wife (she is from Italy) are very intelligent and successful. He sold his business for $20 billion to Nvidia. There is no necessity for him or her whatsoever to buy into the Democrat Marxist philosophy. There is nothing in it for them. Lastly, his wife is probably the best thing that ever happened to him. She is very grounded, stable and appears to understand him and love him deeply.
America sets people free but some people can’t handle this “tyranny of liberty and free choices.” These people can and did.
You Canadians that are tired of your country’s direction can try to do something to turn things around there but you certainly are welcome here to pursue your dreams and perhaps have more information choices.

It’s ironic, Donald Trump has insulted just about every person he encountered along the way, including some who weren’t even rivals in any field, and then he goes ballistic any time any observer has any comment to make about him that is not outright fawning praise. This is what he loves to hear.
I support some parts of his agenda but then he inserted himself into a pre-existing political movement, anti-globlaism, where he was hardly a natural fit (as a former New York socialite, TV personality, casino owner and developer, playboy etc). From that insertion, he has taken over most of the U.S. portion of the movement. He seems to have a background xenophobia which makes it difficult for him to provide aid or comfort to anti-globalists in other countries. Even as tepid a figure as Pierre Poilievre gained his instant dislike at a time when we could have used some smarter responses to our political challenges, and so the way was paved for Max Carnage who (surprise, surprise) has some ties to Trump in the background. So now we’re stuck with him for the foreseeable future and Poilievre has yet another near-impossible challenge, finding traction between natural anti-Americans on the left and people who really agree with Trump to his right. Good luck walking that tightrope with the media throwing eggs and tomatoes at your highwire act.
I think in personal style Trump is a bit like Mussolini. He is a very grandiose figure who lives and breathes national pride. It’s possible to overdo that. America is a great country and I’ve enjoyed traveling around safe parts of it, which are largely unpopulated. But it is also a country that has a lot of problems that nobody should be all that proud to embrace. Canadians should not keep obsessing about having to live in the shadow of the great colossus. We should just quietly go about our business and try to make the best of the hand we are holding, which is not the same hand. America has a seven-high flush draw and bets like they have a made full house. We have a couple of pairs and act like the table might be raided at any time.
And when I say we, I should say you, because in my case, I was told by the powers that be that I was not welcome here and should probably just shuffle off to a new homeland. Why? I was smart and it annoyed dumb people. At least, that’s what insiders told me, I had originally thought it might be my ability to annoy, even though I have always annoyed simply by holding up mirrors and saying, “what do you see?”
