The elimination of the “new people” smart and resourceful enough to sustain an economic system more complex than subsistence farming—and hence, also, to be a potential threat to the dictatorship of the proletariat—is not an unhappy outcome of socialist revolution. It’s the whole point of it.
Such revolutions, with few exceptions, are led by rich kids who have never faced real consequences for their actions, have never had to wonder where their next meal is coming from, and find life in free, stable, prosperous commonwealths where people get along and things work mind-numbingly boring—so boring that they’ll jump at the chance to replace them with anything promising to be more exciting.
