January 13, 2026: Reader Tips

From 1943, here’s Frank Capra’s ‘The Battle Of Britain’. This was the 4th in a series of 7 propaganda films produced by the United States Army Signal Corps between 1942 and 1945 to explain to American troops the historical and ideological reasons for United States involvement in World War II.

Bonus: Prior to recent events, this was my entire world view about Minneapolis. So sad to see how completely it has fallen.

We always appreciate your best news tips!

      1. “Real or not, that was a thing of beauty. Inspirational too.”

Definitely. I look forward to seeing more like this, as average citizens get fed up with all the organized, *paid* protesters getting away with their BS (and costing the taxpayers plenty).

Even just having a group grabbing the protesters one at a time from behind and pulling down their masks would be a good start.

  1. Do not take the subway in Edmonton.

CBC link but hey, at least they are covering this “one of the most dangerous transit systems in Canada”.

Less than 50% of incidents are followed up on. There is a red button you can push … but … nobody comes to help.

    1. From about 1970 to 1975 I spent lots of time in downtown Edmonton. I went downtown to theatres, restaurants, and bars and went shopping. I preferred downtown to malls. Never once do I recall observing a violent incident and I could count the number of creepy people I saw on one hand. Back in the day every one of those drunks and druggies would have been hauled away for a minimum 30 days assessment in the nuthouse. Rinse, repeat. Someone who passes out in a train station from drugs is clearly a danger to himself and maybe needs 18 months of treatment.

    1. “Corus Entertainment owns 15 conventional television stations, 25 specialty television services, and 36 radio stations across Canada. It’s share price is a mere $0.04 and its market value is just $7.84 million. In 2025, Corus reported a $321.8-million net loss on revenues of $1.12 billion. The adjusted net loss attributable to shareholders was $73.5 million.”

Looks like it will be gone within a year. For less than $10 million someone could own Global with 15 TV stations, 25 specialty TV operations and 36 radio stations. Global news was hard to stomach as it was communist to the core. Corus radio stations were mostly conservative talk radio and dropped most conservative hosts for communists. I have to wonder whether someone could save it by changing to an unserved market and making it a Fox north but it is likely too late.

      1. Remember “the medium is the message” coined by Marshall McLuhan back in 1964? He was referring to television. Switch that to the Internet and it’s no surprise that television stations are going bankrupt. I have to laugh when I click on my favorite wood-working video and the guy starts with “welcome to my channel”.

But the message is also important. As the media has lost its power a small group has swept in to control what is left. This government and union controlled message isn’t pulling in the fellow comrades, hence the move to control the new media like the X platform and Tik Tok.

I don’t think Fox North would work. People who are critical of the media have already switched to Internet blogs and those who believe the media feel comfortable with the bubble provided by CBC, BBC and CNN.

It’s true. My best friend was a big fan of Sun News (even paid extra to get it). The CRTC screwed Sun by not granting them the same guarantees and protections as CTV and CBC, all but ensuring their demise. The Canadian government will never allow a right-leaning network to flourish here…it’s just not ‘Canadian’, is it?…

        1. You should give up the vodka that comes in a plastic bottle. Either that or enroll in an English as a second language course.

  2. 1970s Minneapolis was probably an okay place. Lots of cities in America were still okay in the early 1979s.

    1. Yes she was. But so was her white 1970 Mustang Fastback in the opening …

My Foster parents had the same 1970 351 cubic inch V8 with 300hp. And THEY LET ME DRIVE IT!!! A punk HS kid driving a badazzed bitchen-looking (for the era) Mustang. That was a kick-ass car. I have no idea how I survived it.

And to extend Roberts theme … only a few years later … after the oil embargo and gas lines … Ford issued one of the absolute WORSE automobiles of our new American malaise … Mustang 2, boredom 0. There was no more graphic example of a turning point, an inflection point in American history than the trashing of its most iconic automobile. Mustang 2 … stripped of all power and style literally LOOKED like Jimmy Carter in his fuzzy cardigan sweater. America was no longer a defiant James Dean with smokes rolled up in his white t-shirt. Nope, now America was an aging, scold … the first ‘Karen’ … sitting in the White House telling us we were awful Americans who needed to “lower our expectations”.

Yeah … the destruction of the Mustang was an inflection point for America.

      1. Nice cut, my friend! I have that on vinyl. Original state 1977 vinyl from my brother’s collection played only with a Grace tonearm and Audio Technica VM cart. Pristine.

  3. When the state has to warn you to protect your own children from yourself and your psychotic delusions and cult behavior:

In other news from Canada’s couple: Hollywood is evil! …because of Kevin O’Leary…(they almost had me agreeing with them for once, but did not disappoint after all).

The female’s body language and facial expressions are really getting choice — she will likely have to be warned not to endanger her cats by taking them to protests.

    1. That’s a FABULOUS public service message from DHS. Calling out leftist Minneapolis for using Palestinian tactics. Note also how these cretins keep crying about how ICE is operating in and around schools and even BUS STOPS! Sound familiar? Next, these rioters will be storing piles of bricks in schoolyards … just so they can cry about ICE “attacking their ‘safe’ school zones”.
