“The press only seems to show interest when immigrants have parallel experiences that the people who built Canada have been experiencing in the system for literally decades. One of the many reasons our system is collapsing is the influx of sickly, elderly foreigners and medical tourists who I am told sometimes will take a taxi straight from the airport to the hospital.”

They promise “free ” healthcare, not good care or timely care, just the promise it’s “free”.
And free abuse by nasty old nurses who are nothing but union hacks putting in their time until the promised land of retirement is reached. The younger nursing staff is much better than the bitter old union hags who should be fired immediately but can’t because the union loves under performers with “attitude”!!
I had one of those, night nurse.
Not taking your pain meds?
I’m ok, don’t need them.
We have ways!
Should I be scared or excited?
Who Cares?
Look inside yourself Rosemary. Muslim Values are Canadian values
FILTHY LIBERALS love this. Cloward Piven Kanada
I agree with what Natasha is saying on her X/post, the Canadian medical system was failing the citizenry all across the country with wait lists well documented to exceed expectations. THEN… the gov’t of Canada added millions more people who wanted out from their countries to escape to a new land of opportunity which supposedly looked just like the tourist brochures shown to Europeans. Only to find that they too stand in line, waiting for a Dr. who is juggling another 20 people in front of them, all of them bleeding more, coughing harder, even more immobile, with worsening chest pain.
They stand in line with urgent care and folks who just have sniffles or don’t know that antibiotics are actually meant to be taken for the full course of 7-10 days and not 2 days… along the way there are some broken legs, some cardiac cases, and as I saw on 30. November this year, emergency rooms with +30 people on beds waiting to be attended to, all with a crumbling sense of security that gov’t medicare is a good we all have a right to. Nobody cares to get in line when they’re bleeding, nobody cares when it’s their child choking on a cashew or peanut, nobody cares after checking with the wait times at local hospitals and see 8 hours. All absolutely normal events, all seeming to be beyond repair.
Exactly a month past my Calgary hospital experience was outstanding and could not have been better, I was an exception and nowhere near the norm. For the vast majority of others, every moment in hospital is defeating and soul crushing, painful, and all too often, “a poor outcome” … “a suboptimal outcome” and we read about this every day when the media feels it’s relevant to their case. I see people screaming on X/Twitter that the Covid vax/jab took away their mobility, their wellness, people who are left as paraplegic by these jabs and haven’t felt complete since then. They all believed what the media told them. Perhaps they should sue the media for those TorStar headlines which said the Covid is the Gretzky of viruses?
The gov’t controls all aspects of health care in Canada, the health care available outside of gov’t is outside of their control only because they’ve relinquished control or “permit it”, and the health care you see in hospitals is all gov’t all the time. If it’s not optimal, when it fails, daily, hourly, when that healthcare bleeds out in the hallway of an emergency room, there’s no one else to blame but gov’t.
And now there are millions more of people in the lineup, who haven’t paid a nickel in taxes, who haven’t taken care of themselves for their previous 30 years, who have no real idea that they’ve just stepped in front of the lineup and are not quite the princess they thought. And it was the same bunch in gov’t who invited them here. And in 2026 it’s going to be the same bunch in gov’t who tell the citizenry it’s now against the law to mention online of which demographic have stepped in front of the line. Because that would be hateful. All the while, gov’t controls it all…
“Covid is the Gretzky of viruses” is actually true. It’s all flash and slick promotion. But it’s not more spectacular than anything else out there.
When Kundeepar, Xiao, Naidoroshan, Bukbol, Olagunladee, Sergei, show up, taxi straight to the airport, then straight to the local “newcomer welcoming centre”, then straight to the welfare office, and reminded of how special they are and how they’ve enriched Canada just by arriving – what should we expect.
“The press only seems to show interest when immigrants have parallel experiences that the people who built Canada have been experiencing in the system for literally decades.”
Exactly! And the same can be said for three or four decades of politicians. Every political party in this country has sat back and watched our health care systems turn to shit.
Actually not even then. It’s only when it can use something to sh*t on Danielle Smith and promote the Dippers.
If she’s not going to change things she should be shit on … just like every other Premier in this country present and past.
She’s gone after the managers who bloated the AHS administration at the expense of front line staff.
From what I am also told by those in AHS, front line staff generally support UCP while managers, administrators and doctors promote the Dippers.
The Herald and Calgary Sun are pretty much the Edmonton Journal. It’s a publication that doesn’t hide its love for Lieberals and Dippers while dripping with vitriol for the UCP.
Before the Spawn was anointed PM, even citizens returning to Canada after foreign residency had a 90 day waiting time before you were back in the system and you had to either get private insurance to cover all healthcare or pay cash. I’m assuming the “Muslim values = Canadian values” era changed all that.
in the “latest outrage”, it appears the hospital only did 1 of the three standard tests for a heart attack, which didn’t show anything of concern, and gave him tylenol when he should have been chewing ASA.
The Forever Federal Liberal Government hates your stupid guts.
Every single thing they do is anti-Canadian.
And yet, here we are – shit health care, unaffordable housing, corruption, gun crime, investment flight, industrial stagnation…
Mass-immigration is a Ponzi scheme and its killing us, but call me a xenophobe-racist.
What’s wrong with the health system?
It’s run by and for the unions and all related employees.
Bureaucrats, doctors, nurses, admin and support staff.
Great system, good pay and fringe bennie’s.
Oh, they have to be productive and efficient?
Silly little proles, GET IN LINE AND WAIT!
WE’RE SERVING DRUG ADDICTS AND ZOMBIES LONG BEFORE YOU NORMIES!
This is how the system “works”.
Yes, it’s completely dysfunctional, we, the unwashed masses come last in their priority list.
Foreigners, fresh off the plane, and cannot utter a word of English, are a higher priority. Just gotta ensure that Surinder gets back on the plane soon after treatment, to avoid getting billed. Standard practice.
Heh.
Another great success then.
Good Enough for Government.
This is the very best a State run Bureaucracy can do.
Nothing will change.
Nothing any Premier can “Fix”.
Look at the system.
Examine the incentives.
Why could you expect any other results?
There is so many reasons those veteran nurses are grumpy.
They did not sign up for this soul crushing mess.
Most of them came into the “Healthcare System” genuinely caring about other people.
After decades of being helped by the “Healthcare bureaucrats”, who outnumber actual medical staff, those who remain are the ones who can’t stop caring.
Government Unionization will always bring such results..
It is Standard Operating Procedure.
If we actually started treating the tax payer as the client and fired 99.9% of every “Supervisory,Human Resources Minions..Guess who might come out of the woodwork to help?
Of course Canadians are the biggest obstacle to change,so nothing will change..
Dread Covid should have focussed our attention on this mess.
Instead we did the full NAZI tapdance.
Like Can Ahh DUh,Government run healthcare cannot be fixed.
Both are working exactly as designed.
I remember back in the early 90’s the Ontario government shut down a number of medical schools in order to cut costs. Then in the late 90’s and early 200’s, there were doctors leaving Canada and moving to the US because the pay, and other incentives, were significantly better. Governments didn’t want to keep paying to train doctors who would just leave so nothing was done to address that problem. Now here we are, 20 – 30 years later, and the consequences of our earlier decisions are finally catching up with us.
Private healthcare is expensive. Public healthcare is expensive. It’s just a matter of who can afford to pay for what.
BTW, here’s an old joke about healthcare:
US: You need stitches, it will cost about $40,000.
UK: You need stitches, it will be about a 6 week wait.
CAN: You need stitches, have you considered MAID?
It makes the news when immigrants are affected because anyone from the Third World who has the job skills and overall clues to actually be an asset to Canada can live like a king in his home country, and afford to pay cash to ensure his elderly parents get to see a doctor who speaks their language and knows what he’s doing at any time, day or night. So if he’s well informed, he stays put, and helps his own country get rich, not ours.
If he does come, and his parents learn the truth about what a joke Canadian healthcare actually is, most will tell him, “No, son. We’re not going. You’re coming home.” And because in most of the Third World honouring your father and mother is still the done thing, he’ll go home and stay there.
So who actually comes to Canada and stays? The dregs of humanity.
1.Deep-cover industrial spies (mostly from Red China).
2. Members of terrorist organizations (Muslim and otherwise) fleeing justice at home.
3. Members of organized crime syndicates who know that in Canada ethnic mafias are free to operate above the law if they contribute enough money and votes to the Libranos.
4. Other people deemed surplus to the requirements of a genuinely developing country, anyone from unskilled labourers to beggars, petty thieves, prostitutes and other riff-raff whose members any civilized society would be well rid of.
The only medical treatment most of the last group can afford for elderly relatives is prayer. They really have nothing to lose from trying to dump the cost of medical care for their parents on the Canadian taxpayer.
More to the point, the governments of their home countries have nothing to lose from using Canada as a dumping ground for their country’s criminals, terrorists and elderly peasants who are too old to still be useful as farm hands and can’t be euthanized without the human rights crowd raising a stink.
That will be all right with the Third Worlder who might have been an asset to Canada. Fewer useless mouths and troublemakers in his home country makes for better business, and makes it more likely that when he gets rich, he’ll stay rich.
If he does have any regrets, dor old times’ sake he can always invest some of his hard-earned wealth in some GTA real estate. Or some GTA Liberal MPs.
Not to tell you how to do your job, bro, but have you considered having a ‘Project Veritas’ style sting camera set up to capture incontrovertible proof of this ‘medical tourism’ stuff. I realize the cement headed conservatives amongst you will instantaneously come up with reasons why this cannot be done.
Who dares, wins.
