Our industrious little Mel the Disassembler is having a tough week.
Auto giant Stellantis says the government, not the company, insisted on redacting copies of a controversial agreement with Ottawa worth hundreds of millions of dollars requested by a Commons committee.
A letter sent to the House Government Operations Committee by Stellantis appears to contradict testimony by top Industry Canada (ISED) officials last week that redactions to the agreement sent to MPs — who demanded unredacted copies — were requested by the auto giant.
In response to the letter, Industry Minister Mélanie Joly told National Post Tuesday that her department would finally release the unredacted agreement to the committee after repeatedly refusing to do so.
“I received the letter (from Stellantis) earlier. There’s no problem, we’ll remove the redactions and send it to the committee,” Joly said.
But the contradicting claims between Stellantis and ISED about who requested the agreement be redacted against the committee’s will raises a new question: who may have lied to MPs?
And her week just became tougher.
Algoma Steel CEO: Feds knew about plans for layoffs before giving $400M loan https://t.co/lS5AQUA2PL
— CTV News (@CTVNews) December 3, 2025

This keeps up pretty soon there won’t be any francophone MP’s in the liberal caucus to anoint as the next leader.
The Honourable Member for Garnier-Clairol-L’Oreal.
That’s a gem right there.
“I don’t believe you for a second.” From an Algoma steelworker who I hope kept his job…either way I’ll bet he’s feeling like Nostradamus today.

I like the part where he talks about his lazy neighbour who lives the same life as he does.
Joly is the female version of our former PM, the black fag.
A cunned stunt with the depth of a puddle and the arrogance of a Queen.
She should be waxing bikini lines and bleaching arseholes.
The Liberals are so infected with contempt for the average Canadian, I swear they don’t even know when they are lying anymore. It all seems like a coordinated effort from their propaganda department.
I call it the Lilliputian syndrome.
They see themselves as very significant but get them 500 feet from Parliament Hill and there isn’t a significant thing about them.
They live large in their own mind and they never realize how insignificant they are to others outside their bubble.
They no doubt think everyone can stop using personal automobiles because everyone can just take the subway.
True. And they have been in that bubble so long with bloated salaries and freebies on top, they think every Canadian lives like that.
Freeloader basically said everyone should take transit. She beamed about how she lived 300 metres from transit in Tronna and everyone else should do likewise. Apparently she has never actually traveled in Canada (except for when she got a speeding ticket in Alberta) and doesn’t realize this is not possible for 40 million people. But then again, she billed the Canadian taxpayers $17,000 for limos, taxis and Ubers. That must be what she means by living so close to transit. It comes to your very door.
When you have a bought media, you lose your ability to lie effectively as you expect never to be called on it.
Dissembler, perhaps?
Imagine the trouble she’d be in if the Canadian electorate (a) knew, and (b) cared.
FILTHY LIBERALS
Ha, this is just a few hundred million. Shut up, Piggy….”Who Cares?”
This $400 million is like a rounding error for these FILTHY LIBERALS.
I hear we’re flushing more money down the Ukraine toilet today!
A decade of fiscal malfeasance and no ideas as where the money’s gone to. An opposition MP rises in the House of Commons to ask what the hell is going on, the Minister of the Crown rises in response, “Mr. Speaker, the honorable opposition member doesn’t want the gov’t to care for these downtrodden citizens, doesn’t care for the environment, speaks against the prosperity of the nation” … and NEVER, NEVER, responds to the actual question as to “this is what the hell is actually going on” and in committee when the questions get too close to where the malfeasance has cut, the committee’s time is closed, it’s time for a new parliamentary sitting, maybe in 6-8 months from now, with cabinet secrecy, nobody ever discovers the truth.
Taxpayers send their checks to the cesspool which is Ottawa, the gov’t misappropriates it, nobody has any clue as to where the money is gone. A nation of dunces, led by only the purest of imbeciles.
I recall Ralph Klein addressing one of the conferences that I attended in Ottawa…
He started with
”Ottawa!
This…is where your tax dollars go to die!
The crowd went wild.
It’s only gotten worse
It is amazing how intentional the destruction of the Canadian economy appears. This amount of financial destruction could not possibly be the result of coincidence alone.
Yes, if the malfeasance was merely by chance and not by design, then *sometimes* that would go the other way, we’d expect a good result here and there. Maybe even 40:60 good : bad … but it’s not, it’s 0:100 good : bad and garbage all the time, always a poor result, always $ millions/billions missing, misappropriated and they say these funds are “working” and not a straight answer from anyone in gov’t.
Marc, I agree this must be by design, but ever expecting a good result from government is simply not in line with lived experience. Government does nothing cheaply or well, EVER. The tell is the amount of harm being done. Use the same ratio, but it should be 40:60 benign failure : malignant failure. The 100% malignancy rate is the proof it is evil, not just incompetence.
Love the headline, Kate.
I think there is an insinuation the carpet may not match the drapes.
What’s a little lying in the big picture? It’s all for the common good!
Given that the layoffs were announced back on January 17th, 2025, before Trump was sworn in, because Algoma planned to close 2 product lines, when they converted from Primary Blast Furnaces to Electric Arc Furnaces, why should anyone be surprised that the Canadian government “loaned” another $400 million to Algoma.
The Trudeau liberals were behind the conversion, starting in 2021, giving Algoma another $400+ million to convert it from making virgin steel, to making “Green Steel” which because of the higher cost, no one wants to buy, not even BC for their Fairies.
“not even BC for their Fairies.” I’m guessing you are referring to Eby?
