  1. In my neighborhood in 1963 … only RICH people owned a color TV … we were still watching Ed Sullivan in Black and White in 1964 when this group of colored girls were broadcast … and we just saw them as black girls … on a white background.

Ohhhhhh mommmaaaaa my B&W TV was systemically racist. And we missed out on those ‘peach’ outfits.

    1. Harlem Aces centre jumped into the small town Alberta crowd circa 1982. “This game is just like TV!” he exclaimed. “Black and White!”

    2. Speaking of Sly Stone …

Yeah … dropped in 1971 … with Stairway to Heaven and We Won’t get Fooled Again. 1971 … greatest, most diverse year in rock, funk, soul, music ever.

How can you not marvel at the incredible texture of Sly’s voice. He could sing the phone book to me with those funky dulcet chops … and I’d be in heaven.

    3. Diana Ross was attractive enough to make me give up my Klan membership. Color TV did big favours for black people. B&W TV showed black faces with little contrast.

    1. Let’s recap shall we?

Biden’s Autopen granted temporary legal status to refugees from:

Venezuela … and we got Tren de Aragua narco terrorists raping, murdering, and taking over apartment buildings
Haitians … and they started dog hunting season … mmm mmm
Somalis … and we got welfare fraud that would make African Princes blush.

Did I miss any other fine refugees, who are strengthening our diversity?

    2. The thing is every sensible thing that Trump does is immediately blocked by some judge, which the admin has to challenge through the appeals process.

So, those common sense measures that should be kicked off immediately for the good of the country get delayed and then delayed again and then again.

Making matters worse, many Republicans in Congress don’t seem particularly interested in helping Trump out by attempting to get those measures enacted. They don’t even give Trump much verbal support.

  2. The head of human Resources ans Inclusiveness at the Philadelphia Art Museum has been arrested and charged foe embezzling $53,000 for her personal use:

Also, Canadian-born Sasha Sadu, the CEO of the museum, was earlier fired for embezzling money. The Canadian corporate media has censored these two stories.

    1. Globe and Mail has the Sasha Sadu story, under paywall, but can be used to search with. Same theft accusations to fire her, and she has sued in state court. Museum applied the court to move to arbitration, Sadu refused to clear her name.

I have not found anything on what was happening between her and the board other than they were in negotiations to end her contract as some board members did not like her work. What they didn’t like has not been found yet.

Had not seen anything on the HR person until now.

  3. We didn’t get a color TV in my house until 1980. Cable TV didn’t arrive until the mid-1990s. Did I mention an upstairs hallway was my “bedroom” until I was about 10 years old? lol.

    1. You had an upstairs hallway? Wow. Luxury. We got our first color TV in the early 1970s but it was strictly controlled by my parents. We won a color TV in a raffle in 1976 and I drove my parent’s 1969 Grand Prix to the store to pick it up. It was a “portable” Sharpe TV (white plastic) and it barely fit in the trunk without the box.

    1. Which is exactly why I never leave an air gun attached to the hose. You never know when some kid or idiot adult will do something like that. I remember the death of a young girl when her brother stuck the gun into her ear and blasted her brain to bits.

    1. David I wonder how bad Canadian Housing starts for Canada would be without Alberta”? Alberta is on pace to top last year’s record with housing starts up by 21% (7,137) when compared to Q3 2024.

  4. When I was a teenager I fixed radios and TVs for folks. Simpler repairs that normally involved replacing a bad vacuum tube or cleaning a dirty potentiometer. A couple of years ago I bought a 1941 RCA Victor console radio and restored it, replacing some tired and failing resistors and capacitors. Tubes were all OK but I have a boxful of old tubes just in case. Found some incorrect components from previous repairs, fixed those too. It works like new, pulling in remote AM stations better than a modern radio. These things were popular on the rural prairies because they could do that. This one sold for $199 in 1941, equivalent to almost $3800 today. You can see that not every family could afford one.

    1. Dang. I need your address! I’m a casual collector of 1960’s McIntosh audio equipment … and my current stable of pieces all need some attention… new Cap’s … and yeah some Deoxit on the potentiometers. I have shipped equipment to Terry DeWick in the past … but sadly he passed in 2024.

Sadly, you are a practitioner of a lost art in our current disposable society.

    2. Hey, why is it that receivers suck so badly these days? This is a problem that goes beyond the limitations of digital tuning. And, with that in mind, who makes a good one? ($10 says it’ll be German made).

  5. Tip maybe, more of a preposition
This “deal “ that Carney signed with Abu Dabi was for financial.
Ok but what does Canada have that they want? And what do they have that we want?
Strike that, what do they have that Carney needs?
They certainly don’t need oil or gas, do they.
    But Carney sure needs financing.
    Here’s the theory
He agreed to do whatever it takes to keep Alberta oil from making it to the international market and in exchange they will send some Petro dollars to Canada to keep the country solvent.
What could go wrong with a deal like that?
