Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Not sure about Canada, but we have paid farmer’s not to grow in the US going all the way back to the Depression.
The difference is that China and Brazil are now producing as much or more than the US.
China produces more cereal crops (corn, wheat, barley, oats, rice and sorghum) than the US, and Brazil produces way more soybeans. In addition, 1/3rd of the US corn crop is used for ethanol and we have no shortages of fossil fuels.
My guess is that China and Brazil won’t stop maxing out production and neither will any other country. Prices will remain soft and farm real estate prices may have to adjust downward.
Brazil farmers can double crop, planting right after harvesting. That isn’t going to stop.
Corn for ethanol in fuel isn’t financially sustainable via subsidies.
Makes sense for spoiled grains.
Kate, was this video shared directly from Failbook? It doesn’t allow me to watch without me sharing all data with FB. As I’ve turned data sharing off, there’s a gray window asking me if I want FB to share my viewing history with them. When I click “no” it starts over and over and over…. and I’m not about to click “yes” to see if that’s the problem.
