As for TIFF, it has charity status so it is subsidized by taxpayers through its donor tax credit. Charity Intelligence Canada has given TIFF an “F” rating as to transparency, wasted use of funds, etc.:

And for 2023, the last year of available data fron the CRA charities division, government subsidies are as follows: federal $1.2-million, Ontario $1.8-million, Toronto $1.3-million.
