Honk! Honk!

Ezra is live blogging the sentencing hearing of Tamara Lich & Chris Barber. Follow it on this thread: the prosecutors are seeking seven years in prison for Tamara, eight years for Chris (and the seizure of his truck). There is literally not a single precedent in Canadian legal history that justifies that. The prosecutors look rabid and unhinged, because they are.

        1. Er not blubber douggie

Tim Radcliffe works for the Public Prosecution Service of Canada

  1. “What — did you think it was Justin Trudeau or Mark Carney who was prosecuting Tamara Lich? No: it’s the provincial attorney general. The prosecutors in this room (there are four of them, if I’m counting right) work for Doug Ford’s “Conservatives”. This is on him.”

  2. This is insane. There is certainly no right of free speech nor peaceful protest in Canada.

    1. Canadians have no rights of any kind. We only have privileges the government can take away at any time on any whim they have. This is why I have applied for a greencard. In the USA rights are given by God and can’t be taken away on a government whim.

  3. Perhaps Karma will someday mete out the kind of “justice” to those abusing the process now.

  4. Looks like Canada is following the Democrats in terms of weaponizing the judicial system.

    1. Yes but in the USA there are mechanisms to safeguard that people can use to fight back. Their system is imperfect and it operates best if you have lots of money for lawyers but it does work. In Canada, no back up.

  5. I thank this site for exposing me to not only the trucker protest, but to Tamara Lich. From my perspective, she is a most impressive human being on many, many, levels. It makes perfect sense to me that Canadian government functionaries are desperate in their attempt to destroy her … as they embarrassingly don’t measure-up. Not even close.

    1. And that’s exactly what ut is. This brave little woman scared them. And it’s embarrassing to be scared by a little woman. So they decided to teach her a lesson.

      1. Not to forget Chris Barber who, by the way, is attending this farce of a trial virtually because one of his parents just died. Humane of them to grant him that concession, eh?
As for Tamara, strong women like her always scare weak men.

  6. So much of this rolled out before the persecution of Donald Trump, I humbly suggest Canada is actually leading in the weaponization of the judicial system.

  7. “…the prosecutors are seeking seven years for Tamara Lich…”.

First reading this sentence, I thought it read “the persecutors are seeking…”. This word-change works as well.

  8. “The Crown respectfully disagrees that a higher sentence would create a “chill or fear of participation in political expression’ ”

Translation: a higher sentence would create a chill or fear of participation in political expression.

And for the nutcases howling about how the Freedom Convoy cost Canada 299 bazillion in cross border trade losses from the blockade of the bridges, the border bridge isn’t in Ottawa.

  9. Do you ever wonder how it all would have turned out if our Loyal Opposition hadn’t caught the yellow fever for 22 months and supported turdo’s Wuhan flu oppressions?

    1. I don’t think they could’ve broken through mask formation pshychosis the way the convoy did.

  10. “It brings the administration of justice into disrepute. If Doug Ford’s prosecutors get their way, distrust of the justice system will deepen.”

My contempt and distrust for the administration of justice in Canada won’t get any worse as a result of whatever sentence that the Judge applies.

    1. If this travesty of justice doesn’t spur the talk of independence into action, what will?

    2. Tina Peters? the J6 defendents? Maro Lago etc…

Canada’s problem is that we don’t have a Trump – and if that means we have to go independent or 51st state to get one (or at least, a Vance) , count me in.

  11. Well, it’s too bad their lawyers don’t understand liberal judges – otherwise both of them would make a big public noise about having converted to Islam because then the judge would send them home with the court’s apologies.

    1. Looks like Metis heritage isn’t sufficient, why hasn’t there been a Gladue report filed?

  12. Seems to me there needs to be a response to the response, but I’m not advocating.

When the State becomes emboldened, citizens eventually just start disappearing.

  13. In the next round of trade talks, Trump should nail us w/ 100% tariffs on absolutely everything until the marketing boards are eliminated & Lich & Barber are freed. Back the [spit] Prog pricks into a corner & see how quickly they capitulate.

  14. Late to the party as I am in the US.

Was there a jury trial at all?

Or is this like the Tommy Robinson hearings in the UK where there is no trial at all, just reading the charges – you are guilty says the judge – so many months/years in prison by the corrupt judge and that’s that.
