A “six year attempt” at pleasing their enemies. This may be the dumbest generation of CEO’s in corporate history.
Shell and other leading energy groups have abandoned a six-year-long attempt to define a net zero emissions strategy after being told that such a standard would require them to stop developing new oil and gas fields#ootthttps://t.co/zLb7lte1Z9

All those who believe in preventing global warming (Liberals, Democrats, Hollywood movie stars, etc) can:
– stop flying
– sell their multiple houses
– move into a small apartment
– give up their cars and take public transit.
Until you do I won’t even entertain listening to you.
You forgot “stop exhaling”
Yep.
Liberals who try to force ‘Net Zero’ on everyone else should in turn be forced to practice what they preach.
They should be forced to stop breathing.
Don’t forget
-throw away your cell phone
-turn off the main breaker in your house
-survive on your 6×10 ft communal garden plot
It shouldn’t be voluntary to do without those things. Nope. Shell Oil and all the other fossil fuel providers need to just show these simpletons a glimpse of the world they’re preaching YOU must live in … by being FORCED to live in it themselves.
We need a one month strike/boycott of everything derived from fossil fuels. ALL of it. Brownouts aren’t communicating the coming disaster these numbskulls are maneuvering us toward. We need a blackout. A prolonged blackout. Period.
Sooner or later North Korea will impose one on us; meanwhile government and utilities are doing nothing to harden the grid against an EMP attack. Not to worry, only about 90% of the population will perish when the trucks no longer deliver groceries.
I believe that if we just say no to the climate loons it will go away.
World destroying climate change is a bullshit theory …. in reality …
“THERE IS NOTHING NEW UNDER THE SUN.”
Net Zero, for the win!
Just on a brief inventory while perusing the Enbridge website…I’d say they haven’t learned a damn thing. If it took six years to figure out Net Zero was corporate seppuku…imagine the come to Jesus moment they’ll have if they ever shut down line 5?
In the meantime, expect the stupidity to continue.
Yes, stupidity continues indeed. TransAlta’s DEI CEO shut down its coal mine after spending millions on a dragline.

I sold all my Enbridge stock when they embarked on a $1 billion solar farm on the on the south side of Cheyenne. Sooner, rather than later, it will be devastated by hail and they can start again.
After a career leaving behind geophysics, geology, economics, or engineering, and navigating corporate politics, culminating in the big office and hounded by spin doctors and “stakeholders”, the brain ceases to function.
Our “conservative” politicians still use the language of the left when discussing global warming including the need to reduce “emissions”. Of course emissions do not refer to oxides of sulfur or particulates. Emissions are CO2 baby!
They are still scared to death – or collecting cheques – to simply state that AGW is, was and always will be a fraud designed to subjugate humanity while taking massive grift.
Regarding corporate executives, the primary skill most have is climbing the corporate ladder – and if that means embracing DEI, rainbow ideology, climate change etc – they will do it with great enthusiasm.
I, sort of, understand the dilemma that led Shell and other petroleum companies to play this game. They are at the mercy of the Courts. And, we’ve seen in detail how they can be infiltrated with activist hacks not interested in the actual law.
Shell, specifically, actually lost a case to a Dutch environmental group requiring them to lower their CO2 emissions to 45%. Luckily, the Hague Court of Appeals overturned that verdict from the lower court. BUT, that same Dutch environmental group has fine tuned and refiled. This will be an ongoing, voluminous, and expensive venture just to defend the operation of their business. This same strategy is being applied to all petroleum companies on a daily basis. Eventually, one of them is going to get through.
Shell, and the other companies have been walking a tightrope. The fact that they have taken a solid stand is more surprising than their previous playing along and providing lip service to their opposition.
Incidentally, US taxpayers have been financing these lawsuits through grant money handed out by the EPA (IMO, illegally)….but for the time being, that’s been halted.
Pleasing your enemies does not make them your friends, but they had to do something to take the pressure off. I’m guessing they went along with it in the hopes that reality would eventually dawn on governments and they would reverse on all the climate change BS. Sadly it will take much longer. The public has to first suffer enough, to the point that they put pressure on politicians reverse course. That hasn’t happened yet.
Governments are unacquainted with reality. That is one of the principle reasons Trump has been so effecting in the past 6 months. He routinely introduces socialist nations to something they have never seen before.
That they never have sufficient testosterone to cease supplying oil and gas products to entities that are determined to sue them into bankruptcy is simply absurd. Bringing those nations to their knees is easily done.
“This may be the dumbest generation of CEO’s in corporate history.”
Without a doubt.
Shell Oil climbed onto the “green future” train to oblivion at least 30 years ago. I have found fuel for my automobiles at non-Shell locations ever since.
I’ve been checking the press releases from the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers for years. Their groveling to the greenies is enough to gag a maggot. It’s as if they are begging for a bullet; I can’t figure it out. It has to involve unbelievably massive payoffs and promises yet to come, but to whom? From _________ ? How?
